  AGAIN with the college bashing

  ok so the mate took good notes at the ca and here is the newest on "higher education:.

  the usual bashing of motives: those who want great wealth, prestige and seek it in a college educationcollege graduates don't always get jobs in their fieldsdrugs, drinking and sex are "rampant" at collegesthose who want to "snatch us away" are near if we go to college (isa 54)if we seek a college education, we are not spiritual mindedthe most disturbing for me was this:.

  those who choose college will not get blessings from jehovahand of course there was the obligatory interview with the college graduate who disdains the education whe received.. .

  There was way more drug use going on with the kids at the KH than I ever encountered with the groups I hang out with in college.

  Kids at college are (mostly) self-directed kids who are trying to learn something and better themselves in life.

  Kids at the KH were (mostly) lazy, skating along on some part time job waiting for the new system to come. Nothing going on in their life, so why NOT get involved with drugs and alcohol.

  Also: Homerovah the Almighty: I like reading your posts but your font is always soooo tiny and it makes it hard to get through thte paragraphs :(

  On a radio piece on NPR talking about current unemployment rates, they report that the unemployment rate is twice as high for those without a college degree.

  Olin Moyles Ghost: YES! I love that talk. I quote it all the time to my mom... but, it ususally makes no difference.

  It is one that I would recommend to all exiting JWs.

  Yes- TED talks are SO cool. They have something for everyone. Art, Science, politics, social issues, techMOLogy... love it! Some of them have made me cry too...

  Yes, phrasing it the was drwtsn32 suggested would be the best way to approach the question you are trying to ask.

  "Do you accept evolution?"

  You could next ask, "Do you accept a heliocentric solar system?"

  Although the question "Do you believe in evolution?" makes the assumption that our understanding of science is faith-based (the "believe" part).

  People believe in the Easter bunny. They don't know he exists.

  So... I know that the fact that evolution occured is explained by the theory of evolution (which has more proof that the theory of gravity... or the existence of electrons...).

  Didn't think you were going to avoid this stuff here did you... heh heh.
