This place is great. Everyday I get to laugh so hard I cry. Caz. Today you submitted the story that made my day.

my last 2 posts have been so sad that i thought i would tell you about something that i remembered once when the jw"s came a calling.
i guess it would have been funny if it wasn't so darn embarassing!
when i was younger i was trying to 'get fit' and had taken to doing aerobics in my loungeroom.

i'm curious how many people on the board have looked into other religions or spirituality groups since they've left the jw.. what have you looked into?
did you join anything else?
read up on any others?
I've been going off and on to Catholic Mass. They have XLT (Youth night) With singing praise songs. Honestly? That was about the only thing I REALLY liked about the KH was singing. My roommate is Catholic so I go every now and then just for some kind of spirituality. Anyway...there's guilt in Catholicism and lord knows I'm not stranger to that.
Joking aside though...I've looked into Wicca. The spellcasting doesn't really appeal to me, but I'm ALL for "Do what you will, but harm none." I guess if you go by mainstream Christianity it means I've converted to Satanism...but in any organization where God/Jesus isn't the part of the big deal, it's satanic in nature.
I'm all for this, which is a paganistic/wiccan viewpoint...We're on a wheel, all of us...and in the center is God/Allah/Vishnu/Bob/Whatever...and the religions of the world are simply spokes to get to the center of the wheel...what does it matter what spoke you're on if you eventually reach 'God'?
And for those atheists out there that would I guess disagree...I feel that it takes the most faith of all to be an aethist. And I mean that will all respect.
my name is todd and i am new to this forum.
i just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
i am from salt lake city, utah and i have been free from the wtbts since 1998. i wanted to also see if there are any ex-jw's in utah that might want to chat.
Wilkommen, Beinvenue....Welcome!
Sorry, watched the first season of the Muppets Show last night and they sang Caberet.
I'm not from Utah, but I did leave the JWs. Does that count for something?
Anywho, welcome to the board! Sit back and relax and enjoy. Good times, my friend, good times!
i wouldn't call myself a graphic designer exactly.
more like an amateur with a steady contract.
http://www.newspagedesigner.com/portfolios/portfolio1.php?userid=3801.
I'm a graphic designer, also working in the newspaper business. I'm in retail advertising design, so basically designing ads that go into the paper. What a drag. I'm actually looking to get out of the field after about 6 years in because I'm just so burned out. I don't even draw anymore I'm so tired of it. :}
wait a minute. You work for the Pilot?! I work for the Daily Press! I'm looking at your page now. :} Wow...nice stuff...I love typography! I used to work for Military Newspapers of VA, just to let you know. :}
small world!

hello everyone..i just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my experiences.. i'm 23, have been raised in the truth all my life.
when i was 18, i made a foolish decision to get married, something i knew deep down i wasn't ready for, still being very much in the 'bloom of youth'.
i reluctantly saw my future as being one of jehovahs witnesses and with all my adolescent drives, i moved away from home to marry a man with about the same maturity as me.
Welcome Riko!
::BIG HUGS:: I've been there too! I had a terrible time trying to find my way in the 'worldly' world, terrified of men, (cause they're evil dontcha know. ;), socially inept, mistrusting, not knowing how the heck to make friends and desperately alone. It's not an easy road...I've dealt with severe depression, and still battle with an eating disorder. I'm on medication now and am seeing a therapist and honestly? Things are going pretty good ie. getting better.
This is what depression is ultimately. It is misplaced anger. And just why should any of us "Witness Brats" be angry, really? Hmm...my list goes on and on just as everyone's here does. Just know that you're not alone here, Riko...you've got friends in us. We've been through the same trauma that you've dealt with and that you have every right to feel what you are feeling. Don't give in to the 'sadness.' Life can be good and fun and a joy to experience. And I'm seriously not one of those "Up with People" kind of persons. ;) Just take every day at a time...talk about your experiences, ask questions, rant even. We like to read.
beards!
in my congregation it is frowned apon.
a male can have one but he wouldnt get any privilidges and would probably be labeled the black sheep.
What do I think about beards, and why the organization in general doesn't allow them?
Because beards are cool, and are linked to long hair for having strength and virility. Look at Samson from MBoBS. He's wrestling a lion for fun (which goes into "Are Cats for True Christians?") why? Because the lion is bad because it doesn't spill the blood upon the ground before eating it's supper. ;) I digress. Samson also had his act cleaned up by a woman (Delilah) cause she could stand the whisker burns she would get from kissing the overly cool, if hairy, Samson. So she cleans him up, in accordance with the spiritual food from the FDS and suddenly he has no strength and he's not a hit with the girls anymore. (Oh, and it's her fault too.)
Tune in next time folks when we discuss the Parable of water into wine, and why god wants us to drink.
i am engaged to a wonderful man who is jw.
this wg has been bombarded by his mother.
father is pretty happy to us about us.
Marginally evil? Like the Diet Coke of evil? One calorie still not evil enough?
Welcome aboard! I know I like it here.
Congratulations on your engagement! Best of luck for the both of you.
.
many thousand years ago, jesus expelled demons in people.
do you think it's possible today that people, maybe you or i, may have one or more demons in us, controling us to a certain extent?
Don't demons cause cancer in laboratory rats?
for those of you who will be disgusted that i even attended the meeting, let alone allow my son to give his first public talk tonight, please, spare me the shouting messages.
i take full responsibility for what i experienced this evening.
yet, i feel the need to share this experience that has me enraged.
I almost see the KH as an event horizon where the physics of this reality no longer apply. I applaud your restraint, first off. This in itself is the key reason why we enter a different set of physical mechanics currently unknown to our most brilliant scientific minds. Sure, you could have ranted and raved against that dipsh!t brother, beseeched the Lord to rain down fire upon these unrepentant sinners, but would it have impacted in a normal way? No. The twisted laws of KH physics would decree that "I'm rubber, you're glue! Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks right back to you!"
You did fine. Love your son. Tell him just how awesome he really is, cause that took a lot of guts to get up there and speak. :) Also, not sure just how old your boy is, but have you discussed this event with him? Was he aware of what was said? Does he know how that made you feel as his dad? Not sure if that's the right thing to do, but most kids simply won't abide their parents being dissed. :)

It was written by someone with the handle of J.R. So I'm not sure WHO exactly wrote the article. It is, however, all over the place from what I've found, and there has been a lot of discussion on the blogs as to the veracity of this document. People are actually thinking this is a TRUE article. I just know that it's funny, and coincides perfectly with the evil-doer Friskie.
