"If you are teaching intolerance, we WILL shut you down!" English Prime Minister David Cameron
by stuckinarut2 inthe prime minister of england made the above statement yesterday regarding any schools that influence youths in a negative manner.. he went on to say that if youths are influenced in a negative manner regarding religious teachings that promote judgement of others (including same sex relationships, etc ) or that look down on other peoples free choice, the government would take action.. i cant find a newspaper article sorry...i just heard it on the radio news.... very interesting though...it may have a bearing on how those who learn ttatt are treated by the organization??

So Microsoft made a laptop - Surface Pro 4 / Surface Book
by Simon inmicrosoft definitely seem to be undergoing a revival and are coming out with some cool tech.
it's good to see them turning things around and keeping apple honest.. the holo-lens looks fantastic - much better than full vr headsets by providing augmented reality instead (imagine 3d minecraft projected on a table or aliens running round your living room to shoot at).. more practical though is the update to the surface tablet and the surprise release, the surface book laptop / tablet.
yeah, it's confusing - one is a tablet that becomes a laptop and the other is a laptop that becomes a tablet.. i promised our eldest a laptop for his high-school graduation and to use now he's starting university and took him to the apple store a few months ago but the macbooks i was leaning towards weren't available at the time.

Windows 10 is awesome, be aware of your privacy though! When first time install, don't just click on automatic install. Click on advanced install. clicking on automatic install will not protect your privacy. Microsoft can collect data on everything you do, including keystroke data!
I had the first generation surface tablet, it had windows 8 RT, absolutely hated it, but it does look like Microsoft are now getting into the game a little more by listening to customer feedback.
I have just ordered the Ipad air 2 and hoping I have better luck with this one. So far I have had 5 tablets in the space of two years, non of them I liked. The last one I had was the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, Samsung's build quality is shocking, the thing fell to pieces so I have vowed I will never buy another Samsung product again!
For my phone I will probably stick with HTC ONE, the build quality is pretty awesome with it's metal unibody, and it is surprisingly durable. There is a video on Youtube where they tested the HTC ONE M8 by placing it in water for 30 minutes. It emerged still fully functional, and the glass screen is extremely tough too.
OMG! Can't you tell I'm a bit of a techy

The right to shun - wrong?
by Simon inmany people are understandably upset and angry at the notion that jws have the right to shun people.
it seems such an obvious "no brainer" cruel and inhuman thing to do - it must be wrong ... surely?.
of course we look at things from the perspective of those hurt and harmed by shunning.

Propaganda is a powerful tool. The watchtower know this to be effective, therefore they use the fear of an evil entity that may or may not exist to inculcate the rank and file into believing anyone who leaves the "truth" are demon possessed.
Get someone to believe good and evil exists in the form of invisible spirit entities then you have them.
Unfortunately this does not address the issue that their are certain amounts of good and evil in all of us, it's how we control the dark side we have that determines whether we go on to be murderers or a decent member of society. I don't go for "it must have been a demonic force that made that person murder all those people" it takes responsibility away from the person who committed those evil acts.
The watchtower uses such propaganda to take the responsibility away from them, when in fact it is the watch Tower who made this "law" to protect from anyone who knows the real truth about the organization. The rank and file are essentially victims to the propaganda and most of the time cannot be blamed for something that is constantly drummed into the rank and file.

Operation "Change meeting infrra-weekly" is a smokescreen
by LaFrancia inthe operation "change midweek meeting" probably was a move to divert attention of the brotherhood from layoffs to betel and the ranks of special pioneers, a smokescreen for the pedophilia scandal !

Unfortunately (and not without reason) a lot of the time people want to see want THEY want to see. For example, there are some who are so angry (justifiably) at the deceit that the watchtower has used when we all put our trust in it and will see every change as the watchtower in trouble and its about to crumble.
Then there are ones who realize the only way to live somewhat of a normal life is to try and let things go. I totally recognize and empathize how hard this is, especially when loved ones are involved. All we can hope for is more and more people realizing just how big a sham the watchtower really is.
Jefferey Jackson mentioned in his testimony the immediate aftermath of 9/11, there was a spike in new members. When the next big attack happens, this will happen again. At this moment in time religion is on a downward spiral, the watchtower is included in this trend.
Sometimes, the only thing we can do is stand back and be a spectator, the watchtower will not be running out of money anytime soon, not with all the shares and the 80,000 real estate properties in its portfolio. It's a sad fact put unfortunately a true one.

I swear this prime minister of ours is turning into a dictator. There are so many sound bites to be gleaned from recent speeches this prick has given. He said on Sunday he is not afraid to press the red button! Absolutely scary, another Thatcher all over again! -

Regarding changes and my poor mother!
by username inwell i just got off the phone with mother (thankfully she has no part in the shunning policy) and she thinks the changes are "marverless" this i would imagine is the general consensus of most hardcore rank and file!
she is even investing in a roku device so she can watch more indoctrination programming.
to be honest i wouldn't even try make her think, because she has far to much invested in the cult.

Well I just got off the phone with mother (thankfully she has no part in the shunning policy) and she thinks the changes are "marverless" this I would imagine is the general consensus of most hardcore rank and file! She is even investing in a Roku device so she can watch more indoctrination programming.
To be honest I wouldn't even try make her think, because she has far to much invested in the cult. Our brother died at the age of 21 and our dad is no longer with us either so she is living for the hope of seeing them again. As a descent human being, there is no way I would be able to take her away from that thinking.
Sometimes we have to let go and respect the persons belief system. The hard truth is, it is very rare that we can wake a person up, especially if there is emotional investment. We have to hope that one day something comes along and makes them think something is not right.
Sometimes we need to put ourselves in there position, if there is a certain amount of emotional investment, in my opinion, trying to wake a loved one up could be more harmful to that loved one than beneficial.

Child Discipline, new article to address Jackson's Royal Commission testimony
by jwfacts ini have published a new article at watchtower corporal punishment, as a response to the testimony that geoff jackson gave at the royal commission.
it includes the relevant part of the transcript, along with a string of watchtower quotes to show that what he presented was not accurate, and that watchtower translates rod as a literal implement to hit children with.
