  Quentin (from JW-net) is dying

  quentin robburts has been on jw-net off and on for over 6 years and he is one of my oldest and most loyal friends.. his wife called me awhile ago and gave me the news.. quentin was rushed to the hospital's emergency room with acute renal failure and congestive heart failure.. .

  this does not surprise me for the following reason.

  his pain doctor put him on oxycontin last thursday.

  There is no getting around it - the fact that it neglects showing Jesus is a monumental point.

  I cannot see how an error of this kind could have been made - but on the other hand, it is so obvious that it could hardly be anything BUT an error...

  That is a good point, Jgnat. You just have to pick and choose arbitrarily as a witness to support this two class nonsense.

  DATA_DOG - it is interesting that Ed Dunlap believed that all christians should partake, but he refused to partake (as a witness) for this very reason. He thought that it was a mockery given their obviously wrong teachings on the subject. Ray Franz, of course, was a partaker (annointed) as a witness. Many have speculated that Ed could have advanced as far as the governing body itself if he had agreed to partake.

  i was wondering on the views about homeschooling vs public/private scholling.. thoughts?.

  I guess homeschooling is sort of like the gun debate - you either love it or you hate it.

  I am against it for several reasons:

  1) - I think that very few parents have the training or natural ability to actually do this well.

  2)- I think that most people who do this are doing it out of some agenda they wish to teach the kids - religion, creationism, etc. rather than purely unbiased educational values.

  3) - I think that it offers zero opportunity for kids to grow up socially and learn to interact with friends, teachers, and society in general.

  4) - I would want to be able to put an accredited public or private school on my resume if I were a kid growing up - for getting into university or just to get a job.

  5) - In today's economy, the parents would be better off having gainful employment instead of doing this full time.

  This might be as good a place as any to point out that the notion of some christians partaking and others not partaking is completely unscriptural. There is NOTHING in the bible to suggest such a "division of classes" in the christian congregation.

  It is quite amusing to watch the witnesses scramble around for some basis for this weird teaching - no scripture being available to support it.

  an insider at bethel has confirmed that there will be a new book released this summer at the district assemblies.

  the society is using some new technology called "current light.

  " it allows them to print the book with certain parts in permanant ink (as has been historically used) while other parts of the book have erasable ink.. as i understand it, sentences that begin with words such as "evidently, apparently, obviously, it appears that, likely, clearly, doubtless" and numerous other phrases will be in a slightly different font so that the "current light" sentences can be easily changed when needed.. for example:.

  I think he was able to channel some genuine amazement about nearly anything ordinary.

  Samantha Brown who used to be on the Travel Channel was able to do that too - this is an old city fountain...WOW!!! This is my hotel room...WOW!!!

  How many decades/centuries before 1914 becomes irrelevant?

  how long do you think the watchtower can speak about 1914 and have followers think it relevant?

  i think for people born in the 1900's, it feels like an acceptable year.

  but what about those born since 2000, will 1914 seem like a year of relevance?

  It really is already irrelevant - the change to the "overhapping generations" is all the proof anybody really needs.

  What I think they will do is the same slow death by non-mention that was given to the 7,000 year creative days.

  Very nice pictures, Scott77. Yes, the ones at top right and bottom are Testarossa Flat 12s, but the upper left is a Lamborghini.

  All the Ferrari techs I know here in Dallas say you cannot tell anything by visual inspection, and to replace the belts on schedule. There is usually enough other things to do to make pulling the engine worthwhile at these intervals anyway, and you get a complete underhood detail practically free when you do the service.

  It is just the price of tickets on this ride.
