Self-righteousness has nothing to do with it, Eden - I am simply pointing out why I disagree with your religious approach here.

by flipper ingreat time of year for us football fans !

Let's hope Jones sells the team before he dies but if his ego is as big as you say it is - it ain't gonna happen.
My stepson is an executive in the Cowboy's organization and I have input there...yes, it is as big as I say it is, and no - it ain't gonna happen.
In fairness, I should say that the stepson claims that Jerry is really a pretty good guy to work for - so long as you are on his good side. So, my problem with him is team recruitment and coaching issues but not his integrity as a businessman.

JAMES_WOODS- Me too, I want to see the 49ers win. My son and I are HUGE S.F. fans . I understand your duress about Jerry Jones owner of Dallas. He seems like a control freak type powner to the penultimate . Why can't he just let his coaches do their job and not try to control every detail ?
Why? The answer to that is quite simple - the man is a massive ego-maniac.
Why would you openly disrespect Tom Landry (arguably the most respected NFL coach in history) the very day you bought the team - bringing in your own pet head coach? < simply put - to make a big opening statement that you have ultimate power and consider yourself more important than anything or anybody else...
Why would you then fire that same head coach that had won you TWO superbowls the day after he won the second one? < because you are afraid his fame is overshadowing you...
Why would you hire nothings like Chan Gailey or Wade Phillips to "coach" that team? < because you want yes men instead of a real coach...then after a while you can look like the big man and fire them for incompetence...
This team will not improve until Jerry Jones is gone - and that will not happen until Jerry Jones passes away from this earth.

James Woods, I wrote this to you in a PM, but now I will say it here. I'm not starting a new religion and I'm not looking for followers. You're stuck in that notion, and you pass your judgement based on that. Of course that my background as a JW since infancy shows. Why wouldn't it? I'm openly frontal about aknowledging my spiritual heritage. Of course I'm sharing the result of my studies as I go. I'm not set on making a "theory of everything". God knows where this will lead me. Finally, a word about keeping a respectful tone. I've kept a respectful tone towards everyone here, you included. I expect the same from you.
Your actions tell me different. You have created a belief system all on your own, made a website to promote it, and are preaching your self-made doctrines here. To what exact purpose I cannot say - but I cannot imagine any purpose except to convince others of your beliefs. And yet, at the same time, you (unbelievably) are still hanging on to the JW religion while deceiving them about your private religious activities.
I am sorry, but I find this behavior quite bizarre - and no, I cannot respect it.

Not only that, Ballistic, but bars often have half price for single ladies on singles nights.
Where, I ask you, is the fairness in THAT?

Do you ever think about what you think about? Or--NOT!

ask yourself why you don't deserve kindness.. if god says you don't deserve something and he gives it to you anyway...who is the conflicted party here??
who is breaking his own moral code?.

I believe that it would be well-nigh impossible to think about ANYTHING other than what you are thinking about.
There is a certain recherche quality about that thread title which practically rises to - WIBBLE!

Anybody else kinda intrigued about Oprah interviewing Lance Armstrong?
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm a bit excited about this to be honest with you.
i'm not even remotely a cycling fan, but all this controversy made it a bit difficult to simply ignore.
i'm curious to see how he does when those questions come at him full force.

The latest rumor is that he cynically did wealth-hiding efforts prior to doing this admission to protect himself against lawsuits - including fixing up some kind of funny "mortgage" on his house.
There are many more riders than just Lance that need to answer to this - as well as the sanctioning body:
Quote:
"Ever since the UCI set up an independent commission to investigate itself, there have been questions about how independent this body will be. Those questions have been answered today in an outbreak of very undiplomatic language from the commission, which is comprised of two distinguished sports lawyers and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.
"This trio, worried about having their hands tied, has told the UCI that unless the governing body allows an amnesty for honest testimony from riders, it cannot shed any meaningful light on the sport's dark, Lance Armstrong-dominated recent history.
"This stance is supported by Wada and Usada, which relied heavily on plea bargains to build its case against Armstrong, and the UCI now finds itself very isolated in its opposition to so-called 'truth and reconciliation'. The questions now are about what the UCI is trying to hide." -

Trend of Fewer Baptisms Continues: Latest JW Conventions in New Zealand
by steve2 inthe round of "international" conventions that started in the middle of last year in the states "wrapped" up last weekend in new zealand.
there was some media converage (from which i derived the information that follows).

Good point James - although I'd add it is not so much producing fewer offspring but fewer offspring who take the step of baptism and/or even remain in the religion.
That is probably still true for now - certainly was true for the past 2 or 3 decades. But eventually, without a demographically normal segment which is of child-bearing age, (as the young ones leave) - they will indeed have far fewer offspring and accelerate the downward trend.

Edenone - If I understand your article you are saying that Adam and Eve were intended to live on earth for a little while as a sort of test, then they would eat the "Tree of Life" and be transferred to eternal life in heaven. You are basing this on the visions in Revelation.
Have I got that right?
I assume that you read his website - and would also assume you have analyzed what he said correctly. However - that is a truly weird belief system. For one thing - how do people get into heaven today if the "tree of life" is gone? My problem with EdenOne is that he seems to have one foot in the JW Kingdom Hall and Religion - and another foot planted in a La-La Land of a religion he seems to be making up as he goes along...which is as yet not complete or fully formed in his own mind. And yet, he seems to be obsessed with teaching this self-made belief system here as if it were the received wisdom of the ages.

It was mentioned on the other thread (the one about how elders are aging and becoming more scarce) - but again I am reminded:
The JWs seem to be on a trend toward an ever older demographic - one that is producing far fewer offspring.
What offspring they did have in the past who were baptised as JWs seem to have left in large numbers.
