i was a third generation jw, did the elder thing, rasied two sons in the troof......both are out now, and we've never been closer.. .

Glad to have you here, the more the merrier, and yes the longer you're out the weirder it gets, and the less likely you are to even ADMIT to people you used to believe it! hubby just got back from the meeting, they have put a list up of new groups and who is going where.. so rather than try and remember it he took a picture with his phone camera.. the presiding overseer then calls.. says hi to me, but that's it (has said nothing else to me since i stopped going) and asked to be passed on to hubby.
then told him he must delete the picture because it was against data protection.. i am very familiar with data protection laws in the uk and know this story was utter rot, so think that asking hubby to delete the picture might be something to do with me not seeing it... am i just being paranoid!!!

weird day with a bit of a shock.
for some time now my best mate and flat mate has been couging up blood and sweating, and a few other things... anyway, came back from hospital diagnosed with tb (tuberculosis).. for those in other countries, tb is almost illiminated in great britain, and children are routinely immunised (including my flat mate) but there are still 7000 cases a year here.
it has 99% successfull treatment rate and yet worldwide still claims 2 million lives.. anyway, i went straight to the hospital for x-rays and... amazingly (as i seem to catch every cold and flu bug going around), i don't have it.
Hey ballistic, I'm only just getting to know your quirky posts, dont go and keel over on us! Drink plenty of whiskey, stay in bed lots...

for me, i've learned to be content.
a to what makes me happy, well, i'm happy when other people are happy.
i'm happy when i give my grandchildren plenty of hugs and kisses.
I had a truly happy moment (and I feel they are only momentary and must be savoured like a fabulous chocolate!) this morning when hubby took kids to the meeting, I turned up the radio, they were playing 'merry little christmas' and I just danced around the kitchen feeling so FREE!!!!
Yep, later I have to pay when the whole family are coming round and I will no doubt have to discuss stuff, but for now.. I still have 10 more precious minutes!!!

I really dont feel it's a 'drinking blood' kind of thing, in my experience it's because we were taught (read brainwashed) all the bad things ie the health risks about blood to the point where lots of ex JWs still wouldn't take blood because they have not been fully informed. the BIG news, although not as big as I had hoped, struck a nerve in this regard, because I was also one of those who gullibly believed everything I had been taught.

I asked my hubby what he was going to do and he just said (like a well trained dub) that he was going to say no to everything just to be on the safe side!!! Just struck me that a lot of witnesses will just do what they are told rather than try and work out what is right and wrong for themselves as it's too complicated! arrgggh

in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.
Just want to say, I'm GUTTED about the site, it helped me so much in my first tentative steps because it was so well documented and clearly just 'quoting' and nobodys own ideas. Hats off to you for all your hard work and fighting it so far and nobody thinks you should lay everything on the line to bring down the cheating lying snakes of the WTBTS. Your work will continue and just rest easy and know you have changed LIVES.

I now actually feel embarassed telling people I believed it!! Because it all sounds so stupid. But yes I do tell them the cult mentality and also how we were taught never to question, never to speak to people who had different thoughts etc.

feeling pretty smug.. a couple of months ago i cancelled my dd to the society.
i have since been waiting to be struck by lightening, but as that hasn't happened, and i do feel i want to donate something, but wanted this time to think more carefully about it.
today i decided on my charity and set up a dd.
Oh yes! You can even contribute via credit card now at the conventions!!! Pubs are encouraged to do the direct debit so you dont forget your contributions and also so that they can claim the tax back from it.
I'm so glad I stopped it!!
