Outdoor Spirituality.

i often find myself engaged in outdoors activities.

once while fly-fishing on a sunday, i realized a deep spiritual feeling.

standing in a trout stream, watching an otter swim by, and listening to the gurgle of moving water, i felt closer to god than i ever had in a kingdom hall.. has anyone else ever felt this?

How about a little indoor spirituality, my best experience in 2005 was the "U2, Vertigo tour" concert. It was very spiritual for me, the best night of 'church' I've ever had. The songs spoke to me and I was moved in an extremely profound way.

I can also identify with your "fishing" experience. When I am in a river with my waders on and I look down to see the trout gathered around my feet and legs, I forget about catching them on my fly rod and lose myself in the beauty of God's creation. It is wonderful.

Here is an illustration that was sent to me from a witness. I think it is disturbing, decide for yourselves. How sad and sickening, imagine hearing this at the assembly.

There was a farmer who raised sheep and had trouble with wolves stealing
his sheep. He loved his sheep and didn't want to lose even one of them.
One day the wolves came and the farmer quickly raised his rifle and POW! -
killed every wolf he shot at. As he turned his rifle toward a shadow he
saw a puppy wolf huddling besides a fence post shivering. The farmer felt
sorry for him, picked him up, tucked him inside his coat and took him
home. As time passed, the farmer grew to love the puppy wolf and
took him everyday to help him tend his sheep. The sheep loved the puppy
wolf too and thought of him as one of one of them. The puppy wolf learned
to call the sheep by their names, just like the farmer did.

It wasn't long before he grew to full size and the farmer trusted him to
care for his sheep while he rode to town to buy
supplies. Then one day the puppy wolf was running in the farmer's field
and heard howling in the woods. He ran to the edge of the fence and
watched as a pack of wolves approached. They seemed happy to see him
although he didn't recognize them. One by one, they told him of all the
fun they were having, running anywhere they wanted, doing whatever they
pleased...no one telling them what to do! They invited him to come on the
other side of the fence with them.

The Puppy wolf thought about the fence, and how he'd never been on the
other side of it. The more he listened he began to wonder if he was
missing out on something. It only took another minute and he dug under the
fence and left with the pack. For three seasons he lived with the wolves.
They had plenty to eat and did whatever they wanted. It was such fun and
he was glad for the choice he made.

But winter came and everyone became hungry and restless. It was cold, so
cold, where they had to sleep. The puppy wolf began to think about the
farmer and how he'd never slept cold and never felt hunger. Soon he heard
the leader of the pack announce it was time to steal some of the farmer's
sheep, so they could survive the winter. The puppy wolf loudly exclaimed,
"NO, they are my friends, don't hurt them". But the leader said, "You're
one of us now, do as you're told!" They all began to run fast toward the
farmer's property.

The puppy wolf reluctantly followed. Soon they arrived and began to dig
under the farmer's fence. The farmer heard his
sheep cry out so he grabbed his rifle and ran to shoot at the wolves.
BANG! He killed one after another and soon was face to face with a wolf
backed up against the fence post who cried out, "Wait, don't shoot me. I'm
he puppy you raised. I'm your friend. Don't you remember me?"

But the farmer looked at the wolf and saw how matted his coat was and how
he smelled like the rest of the pack. He said to the wolf, "I don't know
you." He raised his rifle and shot...BANG!!! The! wolf was dead!

Brother McIntosh said that there was silence in the auditorium, and then
the brother giving the talk said, "Brothers, when Armageddon comes and
Jesus is doing his destruction work, will he recognize you?"

Ever had to go to hospital?

in general have you been physically healthy in your life or did you ever have a serious physical illness to the point that you needed hospitalisation?

fortunately up to now i never had any such illness nor did ppl of my age that i know, except one (heart operation).

the only one that died actually got killed in an accident at work after the machine he was operating snatched him and minced him.

It really isn't that bad. I had great nurses and wonderful care. I was nervous as well but in retrospect it wasn't that bad. Take a good book, music and plan on being out of it.

I have endometriosis, had to have Laparoscopic surgery to remove the Endo. and a fallopian tube. Very uncomfortable procedure.

I then had 2 miscarriages, had to go to the E.R.

Then spent a whole week in the hospital for a staff infection in my kidney.

The only thing that made these experiences bearable are the wonderful pain killers the hospitals can dish out. Also I have a great husband, he takes good care of me.

That is a good suggestion but my mother is so nosy and I am not ready to "completely come out".

I think I will exchange this cross for a differant pendant, I really don't want to offend my soon-to-be african brother-in-law.

I found this pendant that represents the never-ending circle of life and the eternal love between two people, I think it stands for what I want.

I understand, I appreciate your knowledge.

Being one of "jehovah's witnesses" my whole life I never realized there were differances in crosses. Catholic vs. Protestant, White Supremacist, maybe I should have done more research. I just thought a cross was a cross. I may have to pick another one out. I don't want to offend anyone.

Well that's a real bummer. I am sure my sister-n-law and her African American boyfriend will really appreciate that. Maybe I should see about exchanging it.

I will consider this my first act of spiritual freedom. I bought myself a Celtic cross, I will admit I picked one out that I hope isn't recognizable to my parents. I know it is pathetic to be 31 and still afraid of what they think but I am not ready to lose them. I just feel inside that I need something to help me feel spiritual again, close to our savior. I only hope I can get away with wearing it, I plan on telling my family it is a Celtic knot. We'll see how it goes. Let me know what you think.
