I don't even like bringing up my disfellowshipping to ex-members. I just don't want people to know. It's private. I hate it when people just ask me straight out. It pisses me off. I don't identify my self as a disfellowshipped person and I don't want anybody else categorizing me that way. I never ask people if they are or ever have been disfellowshipped. I wish more of you on this forumm felt this way, then we could avoid buying into JW Speak words and concepts.

Why use the word apostate?
by greendawn inwhy should we define ourselves by what the fds defines us?
our enemies who seek emotional control over us even after we left their destructive cult have invested a lot of effort to demonize us with the word apostate and when we use the term ourselves we do their work for them.
most so called apostates simply thought about things deeply and came up with many questions that the jws instead of answering in a logical manner labelled these inquiring minds as demon inspired apostates doubting the god appointed fds and expelled them from their org.

I like making fun of people and laughing at them or even creating a situation that ends up making them look foolish, so I loved Borat. When I was a witness, the one thing I couldn't stand for was being laughed at. Sadly, I knew that by being a JW I would probably be laughed at the rest of my life. But it made me think and ask myself, "Why are they laughing at me? What is so funny about what I believe? If the whole world thinks I'm crazy, maybe they have a point" Of course the WTS headed me off at the pass and told me that being made fun of proves that I have the truth, and that it was Satan blinding the minds of the unbelievers that made people laugh at us. this worked to stuff my questions back down my throat, but they would resurface later as bile bilging up. So, now, one of the things I do when I'm out protesting, is I spend some time just standing there laughing at them. No words, just laughing and pointing my finger at them. Nothing any sign ever said, gets them as emtionally reactive than laughing at them. I have seen brothers and sisters cirling around me just steaming trying to think of something to say to me. Some have called me fat and bald, some have said, "Noone is paying attention to you." and some have even struck up conversations with me after the crowds thinned out. laughing makes a point, is my point.

NWT Oddities
by snowbird inthe nwt rendering of this scripture has always irritated me: psalm 10:4the wicked one according to his superciliousness makes no search;.
all his ideas are: there is no god.. why select a 16-letter word when all other english translations use pride/haughtiness of his face/countenance?
i used to cringe whenever this psalm came up for the bible reading because superciliousness was almost always mispronounced.

Put side by side like that it makes the NWT sound like the language of the book of Mormon. It has a false, pretentiious air to it, like they are trying to sound Biblical on purpose because they are just making shit up.

JWs in world politics: Jehovah's Witnesses Are "Politically" Neutral - NOT
by Dogpatch inhttp://www.osce.org/odihr/16533.html.
so, you say that jehovah's witnesses aren't "political" or take any part in the affairs of the world?
http://www.osce.org/documents/odihr/2006/10/21654_en.pdf what does the watchtower say about "political" involvement?

Jesus is the answer!
by startingover ini hope it worked.
my intent with the title of this thread was to attract both believers and non-believers.
whenever a thread appears promoting the wonders of jesus, it will inevitably develop into a back and forth discussion ad nauseam.. i was born into a family that believed there was a god, he had a son jesus and his word was the bible.

All debates on the existence of God are won by the atheists as far as I am concerned. The religious will never fail to retreat to the claim that one MUST have faith to believe because they can not furnish evidence or proof of God's existence. When asked who told them they must have faith, they say coyly, THE BIBLE! Well, the Bible is the thing in question in the first place, so it doesn't make sense to quote the Bible to prove that the Bible is true. Of course the Bible will say that the bible is true. Proving it is true entails looking at secular history and seeing how it adds up next to science. in this case, it is science not the Bible that proves or disproves the Bible is true. Until it is proven true, it can not be referred to at all, or the experiment is null and void. So, you can't say we must have faith, because that statement originates in the Bible, and the Bible is the thing in question. It is literally begging the question to say that.
The other retreat that religious people run to is emotional appeal, or appeal to emotion. One "JUST KNOWS" in this case that Jesus is true. When pressed to disclose HOW one JUST KNOWS, the religious person either doesn't know at all, or they describe, like my brother, some generic event like feeling warm and fuzzy one day, wile sitting in traffic, and that warmness or glow was Jesus. this kind of vague "proof" is fine for the person having it, but it doesn't help anybody else to know Jesus. In any case, it's so vague that it can't be DIS proven. So, again, the religious person is safe, retreated rather cowardly to the safety of their own un provable claims. -

Interesting-Account Servant uses his own $ to pay bills
by Younglove1999 inabout a month ago we were invited to an old friend from our old congregation to attend a bonfire.
this was before we finally started telling people were weren't going to meetings.
at any rate, my husband was talking to the guy who took over the accounts when my husband left and he was saying that donations have dwindled significantly.

In halls that I have been in, it was sometimes announced that the brothers should donate to the local congregation first and formost and that way if there is a surplus, a donation can be sent to the WWW via a congregation resolution. It sounds like that guys congo. just doesn't know how to do it. It's his own fault for not making that announcement that so many other halls have made.
