Thank you Rhett. Yes I remember the ugly orangish, pinkish, cream colors.. All teal grean and cream now.. Very nice.
After we got back from our walk Sunday morning, my girlfriend gave me the tour of her mother's house where we spent the night. Upstairs, prominently display on a table in the hall, was a picture of my girlfriend graduating from Harvard University. Picture was dated June 6, 1991. I could'nt help but think of what I was doing at that time. Preaching. Preaching. Preaching. And to think the version of the truth I was preaching then is different than the truth today. AKA "generations" "Blood fractions", "separating work", etc.
Now, so often, I think about how much farther behind I am in life because I wasted so much time blindly following those people on the stage.
Now, I'm going to Purdue University and can't wait to graduate in 2-3 more years. But I always think that there is some young, talented, intelligent, enthusiastic Witness out there who is cleaning at night and pioneering the days away, instead of going to the "evil" college and getting an education, traveling waiting to get married for a few years rather than immediately past the "bloom of youth." I'd like to talk to him, reach into his mind and show him a different path is available; but I know, like me, he'll have to figure it out him/herself. For me, sometimes it's hard not to feel like an underachiever when something you poured your heart into turns out to be a mirage.
When I first bought this computer 2 years ago, many Saturdays were spent reading and researching JW stuff on the internet. It has turned out to be a great friend. Knowing there are other ex-Witness survivors out there brings some real relief.

5 years removed from being inside the Indianapolis Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4 years from attending a meeting at the Kingdom Hall, this morning my girlfriend and I walked into the Assembly Hall. We were taking an early morning walk in our jogging clothes in downtown Indy. She asked if there was anywhere I'd like to go. I said, Yes. Let's head that way and see the assembly hall. It was only 8:30, so few people were there. As we approached, I saw the 6-8 brothers doing parking lot duty as I used to do. We walked in the front doors, and of course stuck out like a sore thumb. The bright red and black outfits we were wearing were easy to spot. We walked up the center steps to the auditorium and looked around. The building itself is very beautiful, as are the people, (they're just wrong), and my girlfriend was impressed with the blacks and whites who were there worshipping together.
We attracted attention, and a brother approached and asked if he could help us. I said where I was from and that I used to attend. I mentioned that we were just walking by, and I just wanted to show the building to her. Of course, I was given a program and invited to attend. Thanks anyway, kindly.
We had a great walk and talk this early morning. I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for those inside whose weekend was spent sitting in those chairs all day, all weekend. Really, it felt like a released prisoner walking through the prison cellblock as a free man. Unfortunately, she thinks I might want to go back someday. I try to explain that it's more like a college alumnus (on my way there)visiting campus. I just want to see it, not get involved again, ever. Even though I was baptized on that pool on that stage. Even though I gave parts on that stage. If I ever walk in there again, I think I'll ask for a resignation form. I'm really ready to make it official. Thanks for letting me ramble. -

I should say that I like facts.... plain, simple, cold, hard facts. (Probably the reason I no longer associate with WTBS.) I had one fact wrong about Br. Day. He does play in a local band, but no member of that band is DF'd...... but he's still a jerk.

waiting
I know (knew) Mark fairly well. He got married, moved to Plymouth. Moved back to Lafayette, got divorced, disfellowshipped, married and divorced again, then lost his job and went blind. But other than that he's doing fine.(a sad story indeed)
I never understood the Matt Greiner fascination some people had when we first moved here, but I honest didn't know him very well. I know a boatload of brothers who worked in trimline. statewide, so many did.
I would love to help get you caught up on what's shakin in Lafayette, so give me your email, and I'll try to fill you in. I just started Purdue full-time on Monday, (ten years later than most, but better late than never, and not even one RHYTHMISM! lesson), but no, I don't know what the steam tower is called.

waiting.
I know of an elder named Bob Brown. His wife used to cut hair, never remember her doing iridology. I was very close at one time to their sons, Mark, Jeff and Jim. Jim was the best man in my wedding. The anointed brother must have been Ken Herron. He is a very nice, mild brother. Your description sounds like his wife, Pat. A little intense, you could say. Yeah, intense is a good word.
I met Matt Greiner a few times. He used to run a car detailing business. He moved to the Fowler Congregation several years ago, then moved to Florida, I believe.
Anyway, nice to virtually meet you. I guess you were gone by the time our local legend Jimmy "liitle drummer boy" Day came to town. You missed very little, but its my pleasure to post the information.

Some Witnesses Enjoy Witchcraft!
by metatron ini guess i've just been naive.. i was surprized to find that some 'super loyal'.

How about motivational "witchcraft".. I posted this on a different thread, but this thread seems to be appopriate. Check it out.
James Day, a local elder in Lafayette, Indiana is in the paper again. He has started a motivational business called "RHYTHMISM!"
Apparently he visits businesses, schools, or athletic teams, or any other organization that needs motivation. He brings a trailer full of various African drums, gets the crowd into a circle; then whips them into a frenzy. He calls himself an organizational motivator. He says that whatever message an organization is trying to convey, he can communicate it metaphorically through the drums. (Coming soon to a Watchtower Lesson near you.)
A few months ago it was front page news when he worked his mystical magic on the Purdue University Women's Basketball team. Thursday, he performed at a local elementary school. I guess he never mentions to them that he is an elder in the West Lafayette Congregation of Jehovah' Witnesses, or that Witnesses abhor education, organized sports, flag salute, national anthem, holidays, etc. It's curious how he can motivate during the week, only to discourage the very things he motivates on Sundays. Did he mention that he motivated his son so much that his own son is disfellowshipped?
Here is a link to the story in the Lafayette Journal and Courier. http://www.lafayettejc.com/news0824/0824l06.shtml
HIS PHONE NUMBER AND WEBSITE ARE INCLUDED IN THE STORY. If you don't want to read the story, you MUST SEE THE PICTURE. IF YOU WANT, GIVE HIM A CALL!!!!!!!!!
BTW: At the end of the show, when Br. Day walked around and shook the teachers' hands, when he came to the principal, he grabbed his face and gave him a big kiss on the cheek. Just what you want your elder to do... Simply nauseating. -

It's not what he does outside of the KH that disturbs me. But it is the blatant hypocrisy. He gets away with his behavior because he is an elder. He is also a member of a local blues band; the lead singer and namesake of the band is disfellowshipped. The hypocrisy continues.
