Maybe the world does suck, Heathen, and maybe it doesn't. But we can make sure that our lives don't suck. Stopping an org from controlling you is a good start.

My mate in CA loved it so much he took a carton back with him. Paid about $40 for the carton and $150 in excess baggage.

My 34 y.o. son was recently door-knocked by a pair of sombre J.Ws. who began by emphasising what a bad state the world is in and asked him to agree. His response was "Bull #hit". It's a beautiful place. He's got a job, a mortgage he can handle, a daughter who adores him, heaps of mates, a surf board, a set of golf clubs and cold beer in the fridge.
Dave can't stop global warming, tsunamis, terrorists etc. He concerns himself with the things he can change. Like mowing the old lady's lawn next door and sharing one of his coldies with her.
You gotta feel sorry for the JWs always looking at life through an eye of misery. Lighten up fellas and maybe more people will listen to you. (I know that they can't so I'm safe in saying that).

Legolas - Dunno if I will. We fully appreciate the hypocracy of the WTS and many of it's adherents. Part of my job as her 24/7 carer is to keep her calm, happy, contented, settled. We younger folk can afford the luxury of anger. But it's really hard when the subject of the WTS arises.
I like to read her items that make fun of the WTS and there's so much good stuff here. She just laughs so much. (She reckons that the jeans that I just bought from a thrift store might have a demonised zipper..........She can be so bad !!)

Will do Legolas - plus a big hug. She is so frustrated that she can't see a computer screen. But we did spend five weeks in a two star hotel in Calcutta this time last year - just after we got back from Japan. That's another story. She is so strong.
She had a great 88th birthday. Shame that I was the only one of her 5 kids there. Still hasn't seen her great-great grand daughter. She is very disappointed in them but refuses to let it upset her.
She is determined to live to see the WTS disappear up it's own bottom. (Trying to be polite.)

This is such an addictive chat room. My dear 88 y.o. mother staggered out at 2.00 am yesterday and asked me "What are they talking about?" I read to her for about half an hour. She loved it.
She hates the WTS with a vengence because of the harm it has done to her family. It was affecting her health. She tells me that now it is such a relief to discover so many similar souls that it has reduced her anger and frustration.
This site exposes the stupidity and duplicity of the WTS so clearly from the mouths of those who would know.
Now my mother and I can get rid of the anger and begin to feel a bit of compassion for those still trapped.
I guess that I had better hit PayPal soon with $20.

so what comes next........
by fleaman uk inive had a day off work today and have been reflecting on stuff like never before.. ive had the strong jw belief system from pretty much the word go.then in 1995 that all started to end with the change in generation.i couldnt believe what i was hearing!at the time i was an ms and reg pioneer and 100% in my beliefs.overtures were made to me about being an elder.. the doubts continued until about 3 years ago,i couldnt stands no more (in best popeye voice)and dropped out the religion with a bang!i had long relinquished the pioneering and the ms.. what came next?well for a year a completely hedonistic existance..boy,did i make up for lost time with the beer and the laydeez.i did it far away tho..still worried about the elders.then i became more blase..what right did those elders have over what i chose to do?
?i celebrated xmas..did birthdays,fell out spectacularly with parents,got a great gf,split up,got back together again..all in all a bit of a busy period!.
but now its hit me.. ive lost an entire belief system, one i adhered too before i saw the light.now im completely nihilistic, nearly 35 (half way thru 3 score years and 10)and am genuinely concerned about what the future holds!.

We, in my opinion, are here to LIVE life NOW. Not worry about the future..surely not a hedonistic life, but a life that can bring joy to ourselves, without oppressing others.
I think the greatest "sin" is to waste the life that we have now. I believe in life before death
Well said, Diamond 2. This is a great discussion
