Sure FairMind....Ynaks are popular here. We just had a visit last week from the humungus aircraft carrier US (Some President' name). The 5000 sailors were the toast of the town.

Brits migrating to Australia
by wombat inaustralia has a severe shortage of skilled workers and is targeting brits - very successfully.. last year nearly 100,000 brits moved here.. the australian 4 feb... "the big lure wasn't economic..it was a new lifestyle and better opportunities for the kids.
and the big sweetener was the exchange rate.
prospective workers owned homes worth about (pounds)160,000 to 190,000, or about $450,000.

do you think the end is near?
by drew sagan ini will say that the "evidence" for a drastic change in mankinds history (end of the world, the great day of god the almighty, what ever you want to call it) seems likely when doing a survey of where mankind is a the current point in time.
nuclear weapons, wars, technology, globalization, and ecological destruction all seem to point towards a place that mankind has never been before.
mankind is unquestionably in a position differant from any point in human history.

Tetrapod is so right.
Having lived through the Cuban missile crisis, etc. etc. I get very cynical however about this generation thinking that it is unique in that mankind will end in our time
Read this.........http://www.ku.edu/kansas/medieval/108/lectures/black_death.html
Compared to those folk we aren't doing too bad.
Sorry...but we are all just going to keep on fumbling on.
That book "Famine 1975" that the WTS promoted so heavily isn't available any more.
The WTS said that the "Green Revolution" which created huge yields of staple crops would cause all crops to die. That was back in the early '70s.
Bloody scaremongers. And you all are jumping at your own shadows.
Sorry...Your grand kids will be laughing at you for these silly thoughts

Bloody hell Undecided...Cheer up before I am forced to fly across the Pacific with a carton of good Aussie beer. Like I said before, in ten years time you will wish that you were a sprightly 70.

Australia has a severe shortage of skilled workers and is targeting Brits - very successfully.

The Australian 4 Feb..
"The big lure wasn't economic..It was a new lifestyle and better opportunities for the kids. And the big sweetener was the exchange rate. Prospective workers owned homes worth about (Pounds)160,000 to 190,000, or about $450,000. In Mackay that will get you a brand new house on 850 sqare metres with four bedrooms, double lock-up garage and a pool."
Brits are very welcome here so long as they don't mention The Ashes or the Rugby.

Dealing with a Pregnant Jehovah's Witness
by Clam ini posted this recently inside another thread where i think it was rapidly buried.
i think it's an important piece which shows from a medical person's perspective the problems encountered when dealing with a pregnant jw woman.
i sincerely hope this post is read by jws who are planning to have children.

Clam..I hope that it doesn't get lost here too.
It is a topical post, tying in with the 5 page letter being read out to the congos.
From what I can gather, this letter appears to be written by WT lawyers. It mentiones Leviticus in passing but primarily tells Witnesses that it is up to them to make their own choice. It doesn't mention the consequences if their choice is considered by the WTS to be a wrong choice.
It gives no details on fractions etc but it is up to each individual Witness to gain this info from an Elder.
People like Anne are totally lost.

Undecided.....As Henry Ford said "You are always right. If you think you can you are right - if you think you can't you are right".
My dear Mum was a year younger than you when she decided to go to college and become a travel agent. Opened her own shop which she sold when she retired at 84.
She's still going strong at nearly 89.
To be honest I'm a bit like you. When I turned 60 the only happy thought I could muster was that in 10 years time I would wish that I was only 60. Sometimes Mum annoys me with her positive attitude.

A JW's reaction to new BLOOD letter.
by jeeprube inhere is an actual jw response, from another board, about the new blood letter.
notice the brainwashing.the service meeting was very informative and clearly helped spell out the duties of our dear elders in helping us during a trying time.
it also made things very clear to each one of us regarding our individual responsibility when it comes to making our own choices on the blood issue.

So it is left up to individual JWs to make their own personal choice on the blood issue.
Is their a "right" choice and a "wrong" choice?
Is any choice that a publisher makes acceptable to the WTS?
Will members be punished because of the choice that they made?
Forgive me...I don't quite understand. Is the WTS distributing printed information directly to their members regarding "fractions" etc. or do they need to approach an Elder to get this information? Will they give talks on the blood issue to explain it to everyone ?
It's a bit late to be studying up on fractions and haemogoblin on a bed in Intensive Care after a car accident on your way home from a meeting.
It appears to me that the letter was written by a lawyer to cover the WTS's miserable butt.

JW ghost, demon, superstition stories
by RunningMan ini would like to write an article outlining some of the goofy stories that jws believe.
for example, when i was young, this story went around: .
a couple decided that they would miss the meeting to go to see a hypnotist.

In one of my earliest posts, I referred to a story I had read on this site.
A brother purchased a jacket from a thrift shop (second-hand) and wore it out on service. As he was giving a presentation at a door, the jacket suddenly wrestled him off the porch.
(I also made comments about what happened to me after consuming a bottle or rum that I had obtained from someone else. But let's not go there again).

He is incredible.
So tell us what you do for a crust PMJ. (I haven't had a job for 5 years).

About to serve up dinner. Pickled pork with a cheese sauce, small boiled potatoes, cabbage and carrots. Mango and ice cream for dessert.
