Underground Reformed JW movement
by RealNewLight inthis is a movement which has been growing slowly but steadily among young people in spanish and portuguese speaking congregations in the united states.
basically it is a movement created by winesses who believe in much of the teachings of the organization, but do not believe in the authority of the wts, or any other body.
they also do not believe in disfellowshiping, and believe that every decision should be a personal conscience matter.

One of the people who originally came up with the idea of this loosely organized movement had originally created a website for it, which was very harmless, basically just for communication purposes. However, he shared it with someone who was originally sympathetic to our ideas, and this person later threatened to share it with the elders of his congregation. Either way, it is probably better, because a website would make it too out in the open, and would make it easier to strike down and demonize by the WTS.

Hi again. The website was discovered and was forced taken down, but that was probably a good thing. The more discreet this can be kept the better in my opinion. It is very difficult to know how many people are part of this "movement" because we stress keeping the contact and the communication as local as possible. We are not trying to form a large Reformed JW Movement, but rather thousands of small ones all around the country, and hopefullyt the world. We know for certain that the movement exists among spanish congregations in New York City, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Miami, and Portuguese congregations in New York City and Miami. Of course their are people with doubts and disagreements in every congregation, but this is where we know their are people who know and associate themselved with this loosely organized movement.

Thank you both for your encouragement! Yaddayadda, these are very good questions. I believe part of what triggered this movement was not only the use of the internet, but also the fact that many young witnesses are now attending college, and freeing themselves from the confines of the society, and beginning to learn to think in different ways...which natrually leads to questions. As to how we know who to talk to about the doubts they and we may have, one of the best ways we can do this is by staying in contact by the young people from the congregation that have been DF'd or left the organization. Through them, we can get information about which members have remained in contact with them, and what they have spoken about with them. This is also a great conversation starter (online usually) for example "Hey, you know i talked to (insert DF'd young brother/sister here) for a while..." and see what reaction you get. Also, those young brothers and sisters who do things which are clearly looked down upon by the society, such as going to clubs, studying long careers, etc. are also often open to talking about these doubts. We protect ourselves from the "apostate" title, by starting off only talkign to people about things we know they themselves are doing, and therefore will not go to the elders abour for the fear of getting themselves in trouble.

What Revelations 18:4 says is up to interpretation, which is the point. If someone wants to leave the organization completely, more power to them. But their are many who cannot, or do not want to leave the organziation for many reasons, and for those, this is a good alternative we believe.

You can leave an organization in your heart, while still phsycially being part of it in order to help others leave the organizations in their heart.

The reason for posting is just to inform about its existance, and just to let people know that it can be done within their own congregations. I understand the skeptisizm, and it really doesnt matter. Im not claiming this is a huge movement, and its actually impossible for me or anybody to know how large it or small it is, but i can tell you that in my congregation their are 4 others who i speak to about this. And I know of 8 or 9 congregations in my area (I live in an area with MANY hispanic congregations) in which their are people who agree with this movement.

jgnat: Yes, their is still alot of grown among hispanic communities. Most of the sharing and gathering of information is done online, but we do try to do as much of it as possible. And we would love to get new "recruits" but we understand that if others took note, the movement would be slapped down and would surely not survive. So rather than a large organized group, we try to promote just healthy discussions among those within their own congregations descreetly of course.

This is a movement which has been growing slowly but steadily among young people in spanish and portuguese speaking congregations in the United States. Basically it is a movement created by Winesses who believe in much of the teachings of the organization, but do not believe in the authority of the WTS, or any other body. They also do not believe in Disfellowshiping, and believe that EVERY decision should be a personal conscience matter. Debate and questioning should be welcomed, and their is a recognition that our interpretation of "The truth" is just that, an interpretation, and could be incorrect but it is what we get out of it and what we undestand at this point in time. We believe that debate and questioning when studying the Bible helps each person to get a better understanding of what they themseleves believe, and therefore apply. It is our goal to very slowly and subtly change the WTS from the inside, rather than the outside. These members are very descreet, and even when caught, it is very difficult for Elders to DF them, because they are asked (if they wish to of course) to "show remorse" for what they have done in order to slowly continue affecting change in the organization. If any of you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask them. Thanks.
