Dakota, you stole my thunder! Thats exactly what I was thinking.
There were few that I really felt were genuinely caring, but the very essence of being an elder runs contrary to being caring or compassionate.
there are so many horror stories about elders.
many people dislike or can't stand elders, in general.
a number here have been truly hurt by some.

bart simpson cereal.
(kellogg's, 2001)
gimmick: at long last, a breakfast cereal tie-in to america's first family, the simpsons.
Dammit I want full reviews!!!
ANYWAY:
It's funny because its true.
"jehovah,".... that name is being dragged through the filthiest filth of the world's media day after day and this god seems powerless to stop it.
does jehovah like the publicity of being associated with child molestation?
if not, why is he letting this happen to his "holy name?".
Seiously, I mean I don't believe all the JW crap and all and I am still questioning just WHAT I believe about god, but who are we to say what God is, or what God would do? The fact is, we haven't a clue. We don't even know for sure what happens to us when we die.
You could say that God doesn't care, would you care what a flea thinks about you?
Then again, there might not be a God like you say. I just leave it up to each person to decide that for themselves.
armaggedon - jehovahs witness speculations
o.k, so we all know that j.w's all have their own ideas on what exactly armaggedon is going to be like.
here are a few of the ideas i have heard from loyal dubs: .
What about those who arrived an hour late and then took a nap, just lucky I guess.
I've heard rumors that if I post in this thread that I'll get some kind of magical powers.
I'm waiting...
everybody has their own timetable when it comes to leaving the organization.
some due to family and friends continue indefinetly.
others, when they see all the lies of the "truth", leave right away.
I would say that from the time I started having doubts to the time I consciously decided to not go back to meetings was about a year.
like a typical witness goody-goody-two-shoes, i eschewed college in favor of "theocratic pursuits" when i was a teen (i.e.
over 5 yrs at bethel).
now, at age 26, with my eyes opened and purged of the witness insanity, im thinking about college again.
Almost everyone has already said it, but go to Community College. Its cheap (at least it is in California).
Take Psychology, Philosophy, English Literature, History etc... All of the "taboo" subjects of the Witlesses and open up your mind. Ponder the world and your existence.
now that i am d/a , i now have the freedom to walk into any church or any darn place for that matter, without being afraid the end will come.
i know of a few who go to church , but i wonder what religion you are in now, and why?
my hub is totally agaisnt going to church right now, i can understand that, i know some people come to a point they don't want or need to go.
I still believe in God and I am somewhat inclined to believe in the bible, yet only as a moral guide for our lives.
My belief in God though is more like he put things into existence and then left humans to live their lives on their own. I still believ that humans create what is bad in the world, and they also create what is good in the world. And I see a lot more good than bad. I don't believe that God really takes an active part in our lives.
So religion therefore isn't really a big part of my life, I concentrate on finding my own path and my own happiness, which is a lot easier to do without the 12 ton weight called the Watchtower.
The only reason I would ever even get involved with religion is if I had children and I would want them to have a moral guide to live their life by, so that they have a basis for making good decisions. But ultimately I would leave their life course up to them when they are older.
when i surf on this discussion board i feel a lot of anger.
this is totally understandable because a lot of us suffered or still are suffering from their association with the watchtower society.
some of us are victims of child abuse.
Rado, let me just say that I really liked your site when I first found it several weeks ago, thank you for putting it up.
I can see where you are coming from, I have several relatives that are witnesses and I love them. I also have several people who were frends of mine that I really care about that are still witnesses. I don't think they are bad or evil people, but I do feel that they are being misled by an evil organization. Now don't get me wrong, I don't believe that the GB or the rest of the organization thinks that they are doing anything but God's will, but it still does not mean they don't fit the definition of evil.
The organization uses people. The organization lies to its own people in order to get them to believe things. The organization makes people give up everything that is good about their lives for some false expectation of a paradise that the bible doesn't even really promise. I'm sure you've heard, millions living in 1925 have died! Breaking up families in favor of loyalty to an earthly organization, you've experienced this firsthand. Don't you think that these are the kind of people who Jesus would "spit out of his mouth"? Don't they remind you of the Pharasees who would show the people no love? They are more concerned with their own image than helping the downtrodden of the flock. Who am I describing, the Jewish leaders in Christ's day or the modern day organization. The fact is there is little difference.
When it comes to blood and pedophiles, these aren't just "issues" that need to be dealt with, they are at the core of their belief system! They have shown that when people bring these legitimate issues up they are summarilly banished from the religion and their family is told to shun them, or else! Usually they don't even have to threaten the family as the family thinks what is being done is good and just.
Those hoping for a wholesale change in the organization are looking at it the wrong way, you will never be able to change the organization, only individuals. Besides can you honestly tell me that even if they changed their stance on blood and "two witnesses" for pedophiles that you would go back to an organization that has such a grip over your own family for them to shut you out of their life for what you have done?
If you were to read the book 1984, and there is a good article about this out on the net, you would see that the organization is not unlike Big Brother. It is a system of brainwashing built on lies and propaganda where free "independent thinking" is disallowed by their own literature. You know its evil when you see people in the congregations nodding their heads when they are told not to independently think for themselves.
The only change I hope for is a change in people's hearts that allows them to see the truth about the "truth", the change that motivates them to get out of their seat in the Kingdom Hall, leave and never look back. So when people on this board express hate for the organization, they are justified. They have had their families ripped apart. They have seen abuse take place and were told to "wait on Jehovah" sometimes for decades! They have seen overbearing elders lord it over the congregations and have been thrown out for as much as disagreeing with them. I'm sure that most of the people here have love for their fellowman, thats why they hate so much an organization that by its very nature crushes the humanity of those who serve under it. So please excuse a little anger, because these issues are real and some of us feel very passionately about them.
i was wondering if any of you have read this tract that was given out at the district convention .. i found in this tract they are pushing the fulltime ministry more than ever before.
they in so many words say if you are not a fulltime minister you are not serving god.
it stated that youths today should not strive for academic success.
Anyone else have any experiences or thoughts on the WTS's view of education, career, etc?
