usa were poor.. i was impressed with the england fans not booing the american national anthem, sung beautifully by kelly rowland.

How come the women's restrooms always stink at assemblies....
by tan ini mean i use public restrooms...even gas station restrooms on occassions and they never smelled like the assembly bathrooms.
i thought that they were suppose to be clean people????.
just thought i'd ask....

With ref. to your thought on soccer as an Americanism, there was a belief that it was a South American word for 'Futebol' once upon a time.
As far as I can tell, it's only in Australia and North America that the word 'soccer' is used. Even in Rugby mad NZ, the national body is the New Zealand Football Association and people involved in the game usually call it football.
I was reading a history of the game in NZ in the late 1800's and it made mention of Assoc. Football, the 'Assoc.' having the start of the 'SOCcer' sound. -

LouBelle- Considering the football/soccer history of both nations it was a given that England would win. I'm surprised that they didn't get about 5 goals or so. Was it a strong England team that they put forward.
Yes, it was a very good side LouBelle, tons of classy players but just not enough shots and not enough on target.
Actually, if my memory serves correctly, the USA beat England 2 - 0 not too long ago and of course there is a very famous 1 - 0 victory a long time back.
BTW, how's your World Cup project going ?
