The more Christian you are the less attractive to women you become
In a nutshell this is true. Of course you can wait around til the women are forty and have had enough jerks for a lifetime.
Actually, in my experience "Christian" men are the biggest jerks EVER. Give me a headbanger (or a muscian)

Poor CoCo starts a thread and the women get a love fest (from each other).
My bad boy loves it when I get to spend time with my girlfriends. He gets the house (and the stereo) to himself.

I like bad boys. Define bad.
The bad boys have the balls to stand up when their girl gets in trouble. The meek and mild ones tend to wait until she figures it out and saves him.
What we call "bad boys" get a bad wrap. In my definition, bad boy means more "free spirit". No, they are not always gonna do what you want and you will just have to deal with it. At the same time, their rebellious streak is tempered by their big heart.
I call the men that Mary are referring to "dicks".

There have been several stories here about how the BS host's home is treated. I never noticed any of the things mentioned happening in my community. We were a very small congregation, in a very small community.
That whole arrangement does seem like it would be a huge pain in the ass for the homeowner. On the one hand, at least you don't have to drive to the bookstudy--but on the other hand, you're house gets invaded once a week.
It always amazes me when I read how some of the Witnesses acted at the Bookstudy. Maybe the Watchtower should print a book on common courtesy? They always write about stuff they have no clue about anyway. Maybe they could palagerize Emily Post!

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

Oompa, I was so relieved to see you recovering from that accident. It's great that you had already seen through the religion and told your wife you would take blood to save your life. You could have died, man!
Your medical information is supposed to be private. Jeez!!

A Concerned Elder Speaks
by Franklin Massey ina lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.
many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.
i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?

You guys have made this thread so great.
Finger, I was holding my breath as I clicked to each page, waiting on a shoe to drop.
This is just my opinion on education and the GB's demonization of it. A bit of background first.
My Mom was baptized in 1969 when she was 22 years old. Her grandmother studied with her when she was a teen and "helped" her (ugh!) join the Witnesses. My Mom was told in 1969, that I would probably never even have to start elementary school. I was born in 1968 and I'll be 43 in a couple of months (double ugh!).
So, not only did my Mom miss out on alot waiting for the "end", she taught me there was no reason to get an education because the end was so very near.
The reason people want their children to get an education after high school is because they don't want their kids to struggle paying for necessities. It doesn't seem to me that these people are materialist, they are not trying to get rich--they are trying to survive. Has anyone noticed that in America you can't graduate high school, go to work in a factory and survive like you could in the 50's and 60's?
With only a high school education, the best high school graduates can hope for now is a minimum wage job. Ever tried to pay rent and buy clothes for kids on $7-8 an hour?
