Oompa, I was just wondering how you are doing the other day. How is your recovery from the accident coming along?
In my opinion, disfellowshipping and shunning are used to keep the congregation in fear of losing their families and friends. Just look around this forum. How many people do we have who post here who only go to keep up appearances so the dont lose their spouse or children? It always makes me wonder how many would actually stay in the religion is the practice of shunning was stopped.

Assembly/Convention Rules
by IMHO injust been reading the resurrected topic "remember when assemblies were fun".. bought back some good memories particularly regarding the 'holiday camps'.. i was going to add this but decided it warranted it's own topic.. the 'good times' have been replaced by incessant rules.

she and i was babysitting our niece and since she had three kids going to the hall with her (including my two daughters) i figured i'd go with her to help out.
they were rambuctious and wild to say the least.. while i was in the hallway with my youngest daughter, i continued to listen to the speaker talk.

One thing I have noticed from hanging around here for the last 5 years or so (besides the fact that I should probably get a life).....
The born-in people have a harder time letting go and getting out. They are going after children who were born-in to scare them into making a decision that will bite them in the ass later.
