Question for ex-Bethelites or others in the know: GB members & Bible studies
by sir82 inat a recent circuit event, one of the carefully scripted interviews was with a young lady who had recently moved from nyc.
she has been baptized as a jw for about one year.. she made a point, and the interviewer re-emphasized, that her bible study had been conducted by geoffrey jackson (gb member) and later by mark noumair (gilead instructor).. it seems the primary reason for the interview was name-dropping, with perhaps the idea that even "prominent bethelites" conduct bible studies "just like we are supposed to".
the young lady rambled on about being "grateful for their patience" or some such.

And just to add, she is an average looking person, married with 2 to 3 kids (can't remember for sure). My gut feeling is that she and her husband had the study prior to Jackson's appointment.

Sir82....I met this sister back in 2005 -2006 so she has been in the area for at least 6+ years. It was back then I found out she had studied with Jackson. I'm curious about the time frame...when was Jackson appointed to the GB? Did he continue the study or was it turned over to the Gilead instructor at that time?

The Sierra Club and the U.S. Forest Service were presenting an alternative to the Wyoming ranchers for controlling the coyote population. It seems that after years of the ranchers using the tried and true method of shooting or trapping the predators, the Sierra Club had a "more humane" solution to this issue. What they were proposing was for the animals to be captured alive. The males would then be castrated and let loose again. This was ACTUALLY proposed by the Sierra Club and by the U.S. Forest Service. All of the ranchers thought about this amazing idea for a couple of minutes. Finally an old fellow wearing a big cowboy hat in the back of the conference room stood up, tipped his hat back and said; "Son, I don't think you understand our problem here... these coyotes ain't f*ckin' our sheep.... they're eatin' 'em!" The meeting never really got back to order. . .

Jehovah's Witnesses and the Media
by Spade inhttp://www.watchtower21.org/2011/01/jehovahs-witnesses-and-media.html.
at times, jehovah's witnesses are mentioned in the media in connection with a violent crime.
people shouldn't always believe everything they read--especially, it seems, on the internet.

" An item of interest in some of these stories, is a person's religious affiliation in connection with a crime is only mentioned if they are or were one of Jehovah's Witnesses. If a Mormon, Scientologist or member of Christendom's churches for example commits a crime, their religion is not mentioned in the media with the exception of religious leaders of some importance that commit illegal crimes."
Whatever....last year a 21 year old woman in my wife's congregation was found dead inside her home. The next week her cousin was charged with rape and murder. The following week, the woman's mother, who was active in the congregation, was charged as an accessory and also with incest as it was alleged she was having relations with her nephew. Stories I read about this made no mention of their affliation with Jehovah's Witnesses.

A Brother on "Wheel of Fortune!"
by watson inin the pre game interview, he mentioned that he works on the "rbc" committee to help build places of worship in his community.....a little evasive sounding to me, didn't actually say he was a jw minister.... he has a cleaning business and waits tables at an italian restaurant.
wife and son.. i guess being on the wheel of fortune, is a "grey area.

I think it was the CA in 2008 that there was a symposium that warned against watching game shows because of the snare of materialism. It was a genuine WTF moment. I know sir82 posted a thread on it but I can't find it, hopefully he will chime in on this thread.

"I live in 15minute increments. Jah is my morphine pain pump metaphorically speaking. The times are intensely painful and that is coming from the mouth of one who is living in the shade with lemonade! I consume Jah and His Word, and all the meeting materials, daily text, Cong. Bible Read--it is my morphine--I am dependent on it--I absolutely am. Jah rocks this Universe! Christ rocks--and his brothers are doing an awesome job under his direction... The guidance is there abundantly, are we going to take advantage of it and apply it? We can trust Jah won't act unfair nor leave us regretting or in shame.... Yesterday's text reminded me of a mouse on a glueboard stuck and screaming for a rescue--as its dumped into the trash or left to die struggling into dehydration and death. Jah doesnt do that, he hears our cries for help and comes and gets us unstuck off the glue with His oil-like help....he does rescue us! Ever free a mouse glued to a board--oil is the only thing I have found that works--otherwise you pull his feet out of his sockets and detach them from his body--now what good is he?
I havent read todays text--better head on, was attempting to put the theme text in the fb window and got sidetracked...Have a great day everyone!" -

I know a guy named Christian who is a Hindu. He believes that there are millions of gods. His experience is not documented in a brochure but I wrote it down on my steno pad just now for future reference.
