great scriprure confession. I hadn't thought of that one. I knew that there were more than 3 "paradise earth" scriptures in the entire bible, but I didn't have time to find them all(at work). I do have hope of a earthly paradise, but even if there's not one, I just hope that there is something else, regardless if it's in heaven or on earth.

people still have the choice to follow God even if they are disfellowshipped and are extremely hurt by the WTS's actions. I would hope that one would not lose complete faith in God and start doing things that the bible(not the WTS) condemns. It's unfortunate if that happens. We are all responsible for ourselves in the end. I think people forget that when they are mad or hurt. People will often go from one extreme(the strictness of organized religion) to the other(all out sinning) because of the control factor of the organization, but that still does not give those people the right to go hog wild against God and biblical principals. Hopefully, if that happened, they would find their way back to the bible. While the WTS definitely can be blamed and held responsible for pushing people away from God with their tactics, people can not blame them forever for their unfaithfulness to God. IMHO which accounts for nothing anyway.

I have been reading the post and I do realize that there are differences in the df cases depending on what KH you go to. I do not agree that everyone that's been df has been done so unjustly. I think that many may be done unjustly, but I am sure that some are df for good reasons. ie. pedofiles(spelling?), unrepentant adulterers, relapsed drug users, etc. Just to name a few that I am aware of in my KH. However, I am sure that many elders and others abuse the rules and df people for more personal reasons. Nothing can be said about that except that one day those people will have to pay for what they have done to the members. I know that "some day" is never soon enough to the hurt one, but is anything ever fair? please keep posting! I do learn from these posts!

i can hear the reply by the witnesses now. just because they may have gotten the medical facts "wrong", the bible still says abstain from blood, so it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. can anyone give me some other sites where i can find out other interpretations for those scriptures?

i thought this was going to be big news that the watchtower was going to bring out, not some expose of the blood thing. a lawsuit to the WTS won't change a whole lot to most witnesses i don't think. of course the more money spent on lawyers, the worse it is for the watchtower, even if it is their own lawyers. I was hoping it was going to be something bigger. i've got a 2 day assembly this weekend and it was the only thing i was looknig forward to. oh well, better than nothing

by Check_Your_Premises inwe all know that cults use loaded language as well as redefine words and phrases to have their own special meaning.. not to long ago i was talking to a very devout jw sister (totally brainwashed just doesn't describe it) about my daughter.
she kept talking about the "young ones".
she must have said the phrase twenty times over the course of the conversation.

my sis said the one that really has aggravated me almost from the beginning. "it helps us to appreciate..." That drives me CRAZY. there's one lady who uses it so much that i've renamed her "miss appreciation".
another thing that bugs me is their writing style. Looking over some older watchtowers, I noticed that they always seem to put "other sheep" in quotation marks(just like I just did). Don't know why that bugs me, but it does. just say the other sheep and be done with it. I don't remember the bible putting it in quotation marks.

I want to thank everyone again for their thought provoking and heartbreaking stories. I know that my question may seem abrupt and person to some, but I figured that those who didn't feel comfortable sharing their stories wouldn't and those who did would.
smartone i understank where you are coming from, however the other posters are correct in saying that you will soon learn more than you think you knew about the WTS. I don't profess to agree with everything that is said here but I don't agree with everything the WTS tells me either. One thing that I have seen others say has occurred to me also. That the witnesses do seem to fall back on the "light getting brighter" argument. The thing is, in the bible when Jehovah revealed his purpose to his people and prophets those things came to pass. You never see an incident where the prophets came out and said "oh wait, that prophecy was wrong, we gave you an incorrect revelation, the new revelation is this". Now you can argue that the WTS does not claim to be prophets and I will tell you that there is a very fine line in what they are saying they are(Jehovah's conduit) and a prophet. I was reading some of my older Watchtowers last night and from my reasoning book and notice that even thought they may say that they aren't prophets, they do make direct parallels. I will continue reading and then email you those watchtower publications and pages. It seems that with the WTS their light completely changes like a stop light. It's red(you can't do it), it's amber(it's up to your conscience) or it's green(it's ok now). If they are God's organization, then sadly they aren't paying enough attention to what Jehovah is trying to tell them IN SOME CASES, not all.
That being said, I know that the WTS and members are imperfect, but Jehovah is not. I was having doubts long before I came to this website and the only reason that I am still attending the meetings is because I don't like to make rash decisions. I like to work through things to the fullest extint to make sure that whatever decision I make, I can live with without regrets. Do I think that this website is apostate. Maybe, some of them, but definitely not all of them and their stories are worth reading.
One last thing, I am going to try to read these posts the same way that I read the WT publications. I will research the material if I can to see if what they say are true.(not the personal df cases but doctrinal and scriptural things)
