thank you all for your stories. These really are astounding and disturbing reasons. I fully believe that one reaps what they sow. while I have continued to go to the KH, I have had doubts for many months now and am just curious to others experience. I guess you could say that I am collecting a lot of data.

first of all La Capra, I don't really give a crap whether or not you think I'm living a double life or the WT for that matter. I am allowed to question to see why other people have a problem with the WTS. You presume to think that I don't know that what I'm doing would be in direct violation of the WT's stance on apostacy, but I do and frankly don't care. It is my double life to lead. I don't need anyone on this board to tell me what I'm doing or what I will do in connection with my religion. If I wanted anyone's opinion as to what I am doing I would ask for it. Just stick to the topic that was posted. I wanted to know about other people's disfellowshipping experiences, not why you feel I should not join the witnesses. After I have searched and collected all the information that I want and need, then I will make an informed decision on what I will do and with what organization (if any) I will do it with. Until then thanks but no thanks for you humble opinion

I posted this question for the sole purpose of finding out why people were disfellowshipped. I do know why people get disfellowshipped and I assume that most people on this board do also so I will not list the entire spectrum of reasons. I appreciate everyone's responses. If you were disassociated instead of disfellowshipped, that's fine too. I am not trying to figure out if I am going to be disfellowshipped or marked or anything like that. I am simple INTERESTED in other people's stories. OK?

i am a bit nervous making a reply.
i find it a bit challenging to gather my thoughts and express them in the written forum, but her goes!
i have been coming to this site for years.

i think you hit the nail on the head. it's hard to leave one religion if there is nothing (in my mind)better to go to. Some of the other churches that I've gone to (before the JWs) have left me very disappointed, so leaving the witnesses isn't an option right now. I haven't been baptized yet and probably won't, but i'll still go to the meetings and do some informal witnessing. People just tend to stay with what they know until something better comes along.
