I find the subliminal art in WT publications interesting, but considering all the other much more important lies and scandals, it's just the tip of the iceberg.
Strangely, my partner and stepson, who are the x-jws in our family(I never was one), find them horrifying, and they did help them see the weirdness and deception going on in the WT. I guess it's horses for courses.
after reading the news about puternut, i decided to compile some of his posts into one, so we can all share in his memory.
there are many ups and downs listed below, but i ended it off with a post he made to all of us who helped him during his difficult times.
puternut is starting his life over, because i had nothing left, and needed to move on.
I haven't been here long, but this is so sad. I hope he can see how much he was truly appreciated and loved.

it has been well documented that some extreme cults have be able to isolate their memebers and then have them kill themselves because of their beliefs.. the dubs has always looked at these cults as being mislead by the devil and the dubs would never do anything as drastic a mass suicide.. however as a child i remember thinking that at the begining of the great tribulation, the fds might tell us to run, or congragate somewhere isolated and we would actually leave with on the clothes on our back, and anyone not heeding this warning would be killed at the battle of "armefogotten".. if the fds could get the dubs to leave their home and familes, bascially their lives behind, isn't it just a small stretch to think that a desicion to end ones earthly life could be the next request?.
also remember that particularily the jim jones event, some members had to be physically forced to drink the kool - aid while others freely drank.. does anyone else think that because of the power that the wbts has over it memebers, if they decided to do something drastic, many of the members would just blindly comply?
I have personally heard in disbelief a Jehovah's Witness man (who claimed to be of the "anointed") yell to an eight-year old little girl whom he suspected was participating in holiday celebrations with her non-JW Grandmother:"YOU ARE GOING TO BE DESTROYED AT ARMAGEDDON!"
This immediately brought a look of fear and tears to this little girl's face. That is one event I will never forget. It led me to seriously begin considering the Watchtower religion as a sick cult to allow this type of emotional abuse.
I heard my stepsons Mum tell him repeatedly that he was going to die at Armageddon with his apostate father(my partner), just because he was screaming and begging her to let him stay here us and be happy. She just said 'if you leave the meetings you will die', and 'you belong to me'. Sending him home to that was heartbreaking.
That was a year ago, thank god we got him out two months ago and he now lives with us.
after leaving the jws as df/ed or disass/ed were you willing to expose them for what they are to others, or were you unwilling to do so because you still felt respect for them for being the "truth"?
Even though I've never been a JW(just the partner and stepmother of one), I've studied the cult for a long time. I'm pretty outspoken on what they are doing wrong. Just last night I gave my next door neighbor lots of info about the changing blood doctrines, UN association, Custody case perjury and misquoting of texts to support the no trinity doctrines. She has recently reunited with an old school friend who has become a JW, and being a Christian herself has got into a few debates with the JW. I just wanted to arm my neighbor with some ammunition for her next round of arguing.
i have the feeling that 2006 will be that year.
i finally told my brother about my feelings toward the wt (he was never baptized) and i'm still waiting for him to respond through email.
how do you mentally prepare for it?
I just thought I'd let you know about my partner. He decided to fade, so that he could still see his son(who we now have living with us anyway). His father is an elder, and his father knows that he now smokes, lives in sin, has a child with me without being married, the list goes on. It can be a case of out of sight, out of mind. We live 150 miles away and see his family twice a year.

Here are two quotes from the Watchtower detailing exactly what they think of the UN:

So in 1919 "the disgusting thing" appeared. In time, the League gave way to the United Nations. Jehovah's Witnesses have long exposed these human peace organizations as disgusting in God's sight.
Have a look at this letter from the UN, if you haven't already. It confrims their affiliation for ten years or so. As soon as they got caught out they withdrew.

i recall it was always a buzz word when i was in to "inculcate" your children (deut 6:7) the belief system.
i don't remember exactly what they taught inculcate to mean but i decided to look it up: inculcate .
to impress (something) upon the mind of another by frequent instruction or repetition.
I don't want to offend, but I find it very hard to swallow the fact that parents do this to their children without researching the effects it has. I would NEVER make my children do anything that I hadn't thouroughly looked into. I know that JW parents are brainwashed themselves, and they are trying to do the right thing, but really, they aren't trying very hard are they?
I didn't have my son innoculated with the MMR vaccine until he was 5, because I wasn't sure it was the right thing. How many parents research the Org. before brainwashing their children and baptising them into a life of misery?
what if any effect could this have on the brothers who go into the hospitals and use the blood brochure for information for the witnesses to abstain from blood?
My father in law is in hospital liaison. He watched an old man die about 5 weeks ago because of blood refusal. I'm thinking of sending him the article so he can shit himself when he realises that the WT may end up shovelling the blame onto him.

the custody brochure encourages members to commit perjury, which is unconstitutional and unlawful.
this is another weak point.
I've already read the custody booklet from cover to cover, as we were about to head into a battle for my stepson. Thankfully his mother(and I use that term loosely) abandoned him before it got that far. These are my favourite parts of the text(highlighting is mine):
EVIDENCE OF YOUNG PEOPLE :
This can be used to show that they are normal .
Identify and interview young people from local
congregations who have been raised as Jehovah's
Witnesses and, in the eyes of the presiding overseer, are
spiritually minded but also enjoy the normal healthy
things that young people do . They don't have to be
competitive to enjoy sports . Be careful that they don't
get the impression that they are in a demonstration at
the circuit assembly, when they would show that the
first things in life are service and going to the Kingdom
Hall . Show hobbies, crafts, social activity, sports, and
especially plans for the future . Be careful they don't all
say that they are going to be pioneers . Plans can be
trade, getting married and having children, journalism,
and all kinds of other things . Maybe you can show an
interest in art and the theater . They must be clean,
moral, honest, but with the interests that you would
expect from other young people .
In other words, find the best young liar in the congragation, and cover up exactly what you've been teaching your children. The first thing in life for these kids is going on the work and the Kingdom Hall. Being a Pioneer is the be all and end all. I love the fact that they encourage them to hide it like some dirty little secret.
From the psychology section;
1 . Show' that you have a balanced view and that
the truth has helped you to maintain such a
view. Do not present yourself or the truth as rigid or
obsessive . Rather, show the evaluator that you are a
reasonable person by showing your flexibility and
responding in an open and nondefensive manner.
6. You may be asked questions about your
refusal to take blood or blood products . You may
be questioned about whether you would permit your
child to die because of your refusal to consent to a
blood transfusion . Rather than just explaining your
hope in your child's resurrection in God's new world
and deemphasizing the importance of your child's
life in this system, show a balanced view and state in
positive terms the medical steps that you would take
to assure the child had the best possible medical
treatment available .
Or, pretend that you are not rigid and obsessive, and lie about the fact that you want your child to die a martyr so that when this system ends they will be saved. Bollocks to the here and now!
Q: And what do you teach your child in these
Bible studies?
A: I try to teach her about some fundamental
principles like honesty and why it is important . Also,
we study about showing love to others, being kind,
forgiving, and things like that .
So hating Gays, Catholics, Ex-JWs etc. is loving now is it? The fact that I have an 11 year old boy on my hands who wouldn't piss on a gay man if he was on fire is 'Kind'. Riiiiiight! Splitting families up because one of them dared to research some scripture for themselves, thats very forgiving.
I just love the hypocrisy and the stench of the lies.
