I'm not expert on law here, but I think we are overlooking the obvious. As a young man, after reading the International Bill of Human Rights, I find that the Jehovah's Witnesses do in fact break at least a few of the rules set forth. Namely Article 12, which states: "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks." -- I'm sure everyone can think of how the Witnesses not only invade privacy but also how they viciously label people as apostates and attack their honor and reputation. How is this not a violation? There are other articles like Article 18 which is about the undisturbed freedom of opinion and the right to change religions, or what about Article 19 that says you can use any media available to distribute your own ideas and opinions? Or what about Article 16 that says everyone, with no limitation due to religion, has the right to marry and found a family? Doesn't the Watchtower break that by teaching us we can only marry people within the Organization? Isn't that a "limitation due to religion"?

The WTS fornicating with CESNUR
by greendawn inthe wts is a member of cesnur an organisation that seeks to promote new religions and to oppose anti cult actions by governments on the grounds that these are attacks on personal and religious freedom.
surprise surprise the other members of this organisation make up a strange brood: mormons, scientologists, new agers, ramtha's school of ancient wisdom, etc.
clearly the wts that criticises mainstream christianity so much chooses to join forces with such dubious religions in cesnur.

Fatal error, an error has been encountered and Watchtower needs to close
by Morocco inthis may not be as amusing to the members here as it is to me, but i would like to say that irony is my favorite thing.
i was doing some searches in the watchtower library cd 05 and it was crunching the numbers on the loads of bull crap it found.
all was going well until i decided to do a search for "witchcraft"... when the program crashed, gave me fatal error, and shut down.

I thought for a moment this was a failsafe, to keep the rank and file Watchtower fodder away from the juicy bits of sinful information. No, it was a for real crash. What is there to crash? It's not like we are talking about a super complicated piece of software here – we aren't using the Library software to smash atoms. I just found it amusing that such a simple piece of software would crash on a term like that. I wonder if the witness Elders who come to my door (because I'm "inactive") on Saturday morning attempting to "reactive" me would have fatal errors and die if I just spouted out words like witchcraft and magic. Worth a try, no?

by truthseeker inis he right or wrong?.
during his talk, the circuit overseer asked what kinds of negative information get spread about jehovah's witnesses.

To answer your question "is he right or wrong?"... both. They only believe in Jesus when it's time to LOOK like a christian... once no one is questioning our faith in Christ it's back to the god of the Old Testament, you know the one that insidiously manipulates men to their death and who will rain down savage, burning bits of hell from the sky when you even think about questioning him? That's the one the Governing Body loves a little too much.

Unusual preaching method I spotted today..
by ackack inwhile waiting for a streetcar today, i noticed an unusal flier stuck to the side of a newspaper box.
why has love of neighbour grown cold?many people feel miserable with no solution.
in israel, jews and arabs live together, but often hate one another.

You know I find it interesting that the Witnesses can't quote the Bible to aid them in convincing others they are some diamond in the rough. They have to quote Canadian "worldly" sources to back up their ideals.

Free Will vs. Destiny
by Morocco infree will vs. destiny
preordination
n : (theology) being determined in advance; especially the doctrine (usually associated with calvin) that god has foreordained every event throughout eternity (including the final salvation of mankind) [syn: predestination, foreordination, predetermination]

Great and simple observation Eldarwho, it goes hand in hand with what Peacefulpete said... human nature is to take the easy road. Peacefulpete, I also appreciate what you said. We are all controlled to a certain extent, we have reflexes that constantly work behind the scenes in our subconscious, that is why im so fascinated with the brain. What if we could change our entire response system? What if we could modify our base nature? It also sometimes bothers me that we are really nothing more than a certain level of animals. I personally do not believe in a destiny, or preordination, I believe in what IP_SEC and Gaiagirl said, everything, all rules, systems, and contingencies are already set up in reality for everything to be self sufficient.

If Satan is destroyed will another Satan be born?
by Morocco inthink about this one: the bible says one day satan, the father of all evils, will be destroyed and by extension all the sufferings of the spiritual creatures and physical creatures.
i know the jw's teach that jehovah is allowing evil in order to prove a moral point that he is the only one who can effectively rule this reality.
however, imagine a paradise on earth billions of years after the destruction of evil.

I agree with a lot of you, imho, i personally believe that Satan doesn't exist as a creature. the bible says that evil comes from man, from our hearts, but it also says it comes from the devil... so which is it? I think the entire bible, even if it is true, is still a collaboration of stories that are a LIKENESS to what we know. How can you teach a dog financial responsibility? The concepts of a spiritual world probably do not translate and so they have to basically tell a lie, a story, a metaphor. However I find it interesting that free will does not exist without the POSSIBILITY of evil. When you remove the choice to disobey you remove free will. So, if you take the Bible literally and debate over meanings and words, you see that evil and free will can not be separated. Greendawn made the comment that "Whatever point satan was trying to prove by promoting evil it failed and no one in their right mind would want it. It's the choice between good and evil, the beautiful and the ugly." and I totally agree, however, in a world where Satan never rebelled how can we choose? How can man know evil unless it is manifest? I dabble in research and I also agree with Dansk, a LOT of Zoroastrianism beliefs are so close to ?Christian? beliefs its impossible that one wasn't borrowed from the other. How far back do these teachings really go and how much have they been changed? Its an enormous folly to idolize the bible the way people do, religion is a racket and a snare. I still find it all fascinating that the bible is so full of loopholes.
