Question about "good works" ??? ???
by Kristofer innot ever having been a jw, i was curious to know something.... are witnesses ever encouraged to do good works for the less fortunate?
(giving to the poor, working in a soup kitchen, helping the elderly, other volunteer work, etc..).
i know scripture states you will know believers by their "fruit".

I think many times the wrong statements are made about good JW's that are misguided victims trying to do their best. I can understand being angry at the organization, the governing body....but I think most seem to be genuine about their intentions and beliefs.

Dances With Watchtowers - Witnessing to Native Americans
by Clam ini've had a life long fascination with native americans, starting of course as a kid who watched westerns, and then learning of about their true culture and spirituality.
i have often wondered how jws in other countries, particularly the us, would interact with the indigenous people of their country.
do any americans here have any stories about witnessing to native americans?

I couldn't agree more. I hate the name calling. Sometimes I can see a topic going in an interesting direction that starts to reveal a lot and become pretty enlightening. That all comes to a halt when the rudeness begins....
Who knows where some of these conversations could have gone...

DEFENDING THE LIE----by avoiding the truth about THE TRUTH
by Terry init is surprising how intellectually dishonest an otherwise wonderful person can be; (a loved one) when it comes to holding on to.
a horrible lie.. you see it everyday.
a woman will defend her husband against child-molesting and disbelieve her own daughter.

can someone help me find the thread that lists all the sources and the dates they list. It was a BIG long list! most of which said 587 as the year. I can't find it!

I think some of the ridiculous and nasty threads turn people off. I know it makes me embarrassed. I've been trying to convince a few JW's that non-JWs are not evil and not bad people. I got one to come on here and check out the board but when they saw the name-calling, they didn't bother looking anymore. I think the best posts on here are the ones that intelligently and irrefutably present undeniable evidence or at the very least, turn on a light bulb of realization. I'd like to see more of that than the bitterness. I can understand the bitterness. I understand that some peope use this board to vent and others use it as an opportunity and know others will check it out...I guess it's kinda hard to find that balance for everyone.

love this topic and the opening thread!
Is there a way to save the lnk to this. This forum has such good info on it but then gets lost in the many new topics. Does anyone know how to save some of these?
