My thought when we talk about Jesus coming back is that it won't happen until the last day. Otherwise it seems unfair too all the people that don't know God like kids etc. God loves everyone, not just the Jehovah Witnesses. How can anyone think there is only one true religion? Oh ya, through cults!

A month ago my mother died. She had been a witness for 40 years. When she was sick she got me wondering if all the witnesses think that this system will come to an end in there lifetime and they won't have to go thru death? I know my mother went to her grave thinking death would not happen to her. One time she even told me she was like number 170 in line. One wonders when a person knows of there impending death if they think the new system is seconds away? Any ideas?

Go to the local Halloween supply store and rent a nuns outfit. You won't have to worry about being bothered by any of them!
I think its rude when folks come up and say where have you been? I am sure they know by your loved one who passed that you are no longer in the fold. When my JW mother passed away the family had her buried through the Catholic church. Only one JW showed up so it was real easy on the family. One may say, "But that was her faith and you should burry her through that" Well sorry but the survivors in the family don't believe in the same kind of death so it would have been a kick in the head to even listen to the "asleep" speach.

It sounds like you are in a sticky place. For my family Mom was a JW and no one else was. The kids all grew up to resent her because we were always looked at as being different. Kind of like freaks. I have a brother today who is 46 and claims that my Mothers JW faith totally wrecked his childhood. If you really love her I would try to find a way to get her out of it. This sounds strong but our childhood sucked growing up with a JW mother. I am so happy as an adult to have joined a main stream religion and now that Mom is gone I want nothing to do with the JW hall people. Your children if made to follow there ways will be looked at the same way. Kids can be mean, and your children will have to live with the scars left behind from these people. My Mom died just a few weeks ago and the JW's didn't even show for her wake service. She worked her butt off for them for like 40 years and thats how they thanked her. Sorry if this sounds strong but I have lived as your child will live if you let this go on. Best of luck, Dave

Thanks too all for writing. The only info I had on gays in the JW faith I had read about on the internet. We all know how that can be! I was reading some of the posts and it does make sense that if your gay in the JW faith that you need to keep your mouth shut about it or try to make some kind of change. When I was a young man maybe 12 or 13 I went with Mom to the hall. Not sure how long in time I was associated with the group, I am guessing about a year or two. I had done some of the readings at the KH, went out door to door, and went to some of there functions. How did I get away from them? All I can remember was there was a point where I just said NO MORE! Door to door was horrible, I didn't know enough info and remember some of the people quoting things I knew nothing about.
In the last five years I have become Catholic. I am active in the church by singing and solo music work. I know there policy on Gays and could care less. I take out of the church what I need and give back. I think anyone out of the JW's needs to set limits on any religion they get involved with. We learn that after the control they have had on us that we call the shots from here on. Opps......I think I need to start a new thread, keep the peace and Happy New Year too all who read this, Dave

Its funny how someone can find out your gay and all of a sudden act like they didn't know you. Being gay is not an animal instinct. Straight people have nothing to fear. We don't prey on you or your kids, we love just like other people, pay taxes, pray and worship just like you, we just love someone who happens to be the same sex as we are. Most of my partners and my friends are straight, someone once said, "So what do you call Stan and Dave?" his reply was "Stan and Dave" I think God made us all for some reason, we are not to judge. The thing that gets me the most is how people think we are out there to nail there children, not true, not true at all.

I was reading on the web about gays and JW's. First of all I am gay. I am not saying I am sorry as I don't feel there is anything bad about it. I have lived with my domestic partner for 14 years and am not interested in anyones husband or children. The thing that cracks me up though is that it is ok to be gay in the JW groups as long as you don't have sex with anyone. Of course they encourage us to marry as long as its with a woman. How many of you dads out there would like me to marry your daughters knowing I am gay? I think the JW's have there heads up a very dark place to think such a thing. Live and let live as long as you don't harm others.

I wanted to add to my story and say there was only one JW that showed up at Moms Wake. They could have went there to pay there respects but didn't show. The one that showed up gave me a card and said they will look forward to seeing her in the reserection(spelling) and gave us ten dollars. At first my thoughts were not as nice. I thought about sending them a thank you and telling them I was using the money to have a mass said but then thought about it. I thought I should take the high road and not the low road. I thanked them for the gift and then said that they were the only JW to even show. I thanked them for coming and blessed them for the fact that even though my mother was known well in there Hall that I thought a lot of them for showing respect. I work with two JW's that knew Mom well and they offered condolences when I returned to work but said nothing more. No JW's at the funeral the next day and that was totaly fine with myself and the family. I would say there wasn't much love for her if they couldn't even show at the funeral home for someone that had been such a good witness. They get rid of you when you can't be out knocking at doors any more or writing letters. I use to say to Mom, " If we all pray to God aren't we all praying to God no matter what religion we are? I also say, "I pray to God, You pray to God isn't it all the same" I never got a answer...............

I wanted to share with people my story about the Witnesses. When I was five my mother had been searching for a new religion. She was brought up Catholic and didn't understand the church. Anyhow one day the witnesses came knocking at the door with all the answers for her and the family. This was 1965. Hence forth our journey began.
Through the years my father kind of went along with it but never committed to the JW religion. The rest of us (five kids) were in a gray area as Mom didn't push to much. I do remembering being at the Hall and not knowing any better thought that this religion was on the right path. I always felt different from all the other kids in school as we had nothing to talk about with holidays and had to just stand for the pledge to the flag every morning. Right away that made us stick out as strange. After a few years us kids just did the pledge because we wanted to blend in with everyone else.
I remember as a teen my brother wanted to go in the army and Mom tried to get him to not do it because of her faith. She witnessed whenever and wherever she could. Boy if these people just knew how hard it is for there "worldly kids" to live with all of these things. We always grew up different from other kids. Our family really never bonded like a family would, because of the mixed faith in our family. I am a middle child and my older brother claims that Moms faith wrecked his childhood all together. I don't totally agree with that but I know we could have been closer if it wasnt for the witnesses.
I remember in 1993 when Moms Mom passed. The funeral was held in the funeral home instead of church. I always felt Mom thought she would burst into flames for walking into a church. Grandmom was Catholic. I remember Mom looking at the priest saying, "I have been a Jehovah wittness for 35 years! Grandmom asked me before she died, to bury Mom Catholic when she passes. I said I would do what I could.
Skip to year 1999. My partner (I am gay) had an aunt who died and just asked for her relatives to have one mass said for her each year. My friend went to a church that he delivered at. (he is UPS). I wanted to be able to have communion but didn't know how to go about it and always felt that I was a religious person but had no background in any church of any kind, exept what I knew about the JW's. I started taking lessions and found a home in the church. I sing in the choir and canter there.
When December 9th, 2005 came about my mother passed away. I am glad she is out of her pain and glad to finally say goodbye to the Jehovah witnesses. They are now in the past. I know that God loves them as he loves all of his people. No one is in his bad eye for being another kind of faith. God is love and that is love for all.
Moms funeral was held on the 13th of December in my Catholic church. My priest knew all about her and the witnesses but said that we bury the dead, not just Catholic dead. We had the full choir and I sang two of her songs. It was the last gift I could give her or my Grandmom. I feel that if Mom was right she is asleep, If I am right she lives! I just wanted to tell my witness story.
