ABSOLUTLEY NOT. They really don't seem to have a good grip on reality let alone death. My family is dealing with this subject right now. Just recently my uncle passed on and this next week is his memorial service. Everybody in my fam are JW's expect for about five of us "young ones". I chose college instead, and I am greatful for a real education. I can't stand the cult and am a bit of a blck sheep for it, but at least i have my sanity. I haven't been to JW funeral in awhile and I am very apprehensive about attending this one b/c he was well liked within the JW community and outside of it as well. I was surprised when I was at the hospital to see so many elders there. They were initially pushing the "no blood" issue, and then it was "family support". You could feel the ignorance in the waiting room. It made me physically ill.

Do You Think Witnesses Deal With Death Properly?
by minimus injws aren't supposed to breakdown in their emotions for it could be a sign that you put too much emphasis on the temporary.
just focus on the ressurection, for heaven' sake!
don't mourn like the world that does not have hope!

Why did the JW's Shun my mother at her funeral?
by DaveNwisconsin inmy mom had died on december 9, 2005. she had been loyal to that religion for 35 years.
she had been in a nursing home for the last two years.
some of the old ladies would come and mom would still write a letter to a "not at home" once and awhile.

Dave, I am very sorry for your loss. That sucks! You and your family deserve so much more... I try very hard to forgive for they do not know what they do, but I know it can be overwhelmingly frustrating in dealing with those who just don't seem to get it. I would not hessitate to ask those dubs why they didn't show up to pay their respects, but please don't expect much from them. You could be setting yourself up for dissapointment and more frustration.

I felt kinda lost for a while, but i also believe that GOD does not disert those that truly love HIM and ONLY HE knows the who you really are. Only HE knows your heart, feelings, and thoughts. After all, HE is all knowing. Not some hypocrytical organization that seems to be slowly trying to take over the world if they could really do that. (please forgive my spelling). Anyway, in the end regardless of what any of us believe only then we may find out what else is out there.

Jack W. I work in a very large hospital, and i can tell you from personal experience that you would have every right to sue. HIPAA and JACHO mean a lot to the higher ups that run hospitals and if an employee is not compliant with following those standards then they can be and most likely WILL BE FIRED. I would bet my life on it. Anyone on this site who works in a healthcare setting knows exactly what i am talking about. One has to be very careful when discussing patients due to the confidentiality laws. In fact when a person is hired into a healthcare institution one must papers stating that they will not discuss any kind of patient info openly. Should an employee choose to share information with someone who is not directly involved in that pt's care they can be fired on the spot. Don't believe me? Talk to any hospital liason in the U.S. Google HIPAA and JACHO and see what comes up. They have just as much power as the WTS. I suggest talking to a lawyer now, just for your own piece of mind and also talk to your charge nurse and physician. He/or she will also be able to help your situation. The charge nurse has the authority to see to it that the witness nurse is asssigned to another pt and/or another floor. Best of Luck to you guys.

Shunning someone is one of the worst things anybody can do, JW or not
by JH in.
i guess that being shunned doesn't affect everone equally.
i never did mind being shunned by jw's because i don't have any family or friends there, but being shunned by anyone you care for is cruel.. how did you cope with being shunned?.

I think that some of them some how feel morally superior for shunning their former friends and family members. Like they are some how truelly able to please God by doing this. They have to know it hurts which makes it even worse when there are those jw's out there that really do enjoy the shunning factor.

My Witness sister is going insane and falling into depression
by free2beme inas i grew up, my sister was always a pretty strong person.
when she was 21 she got baptized after she married a worldly man, and they have been married 17 years.
he never went into the religion, and never even attended one meeting and has told me that he never will.

This is my first time actually logging into this website, but i frequently visit often as a guest. I have quite a family history of depression and for some reason this faith attracts soooooooooo many of them. I would encourage your sister to seek counseling and NOT from an elder. Most of these people have absolutely no background in dealing with people who are truelly phsycologically and/ or physically ill. My mother suffered from depression for years and still suffers from it. The elders did nothing to help her and even went out of their way to hurt her. I was once told that she was "weak" and not sick. Get her away from this group as best you can. Talking with a healthcare professional that she can trust and that can help give her an objective point of view on things will make a huge difference. The medicines out there for depression are getting better, but you really begin to see the difference in someone once they are able to learn coping skills and get ahold of themselves. I hope this helps. I am speaking from experience.
