Has my biological family stopped shunning me?????

one of my favorite movie quotes is from bill and teds excellent adventure: strange things are afoot at the circle k. (bill and ted said this after seeing themselves arrive from the future in a flying phone booth time machine.).

starting last week some very strange things have been happening.

first, on christmas day i got a phone call from my parents phone number.

I can tell you that your tale has made me feel better that I am not alone and that the shunning from JW's is alive and well. Before Christmas I got a letter from mom basically saing that she is going to have to make a decision and left the letter open ended for me to answer. A ways back my brother asked me to be his best man...he called back and he was pretty upset and said the elders said no. My brother asked if I was still coming to the wedding anyhow. You all know what would have happened...and this is what I told my brother..."Once I get there I will be treated like I had the flu...the elders would speak with me in private and walla I am DF'd. A told my brother that I love him and that he is always in my heart and that I wished him all the best. My letter back to mom will be finished this week and I will keep you posted.

How stressed were you as a JW?

i don't know about you guys, but it stressed me alot to be a jw.. i never did like talking in public, in front of a group, or going door to door.. gee, i hated the tms meeting.

the moment i knew that i had a talk, i became nervous and often i had a hard time sleeping.

just knowing that i had to talk for 5 minutes in front of the whole congrgation got me nervous weeks ahead of time.

It's funny you should mention it...I have a Disc Jockey company and thanks to the JW's I entertain all types of occassions... www.mikesmobiledj.com Just kidding...I was pretty outgoing kind of guy but to speak in front of a large group...it was pretty dicey at times. As far as field service...what was worse...waking some one up at 9am or catching them home during the week when they just got home. I swear...there should have been days were we could have been ambulance bound to a hospital.

its funny to me... i was just talking to someone i consider my friend.

she doesnt come on here, but she left the "truth".

i now have gotten to know her and her husband, along with their son and his wife.

It's fuuny when I was a teen JW and had responsibilities...everyone wanted to be my friend...when I drifed and left and moved to GA...nodda one ever picked up the phone to call. The friends list was short in my first number of years here but, I have them all over the states and 3 that would drop what their doing to help me in an emergency.

What would it be like if I weren't brain washed for over 20 years?

hello...this is my first posting.

i heard about this web page from a friend that has a boyfriend that is trying to live life out of the clutches of jw's for the last 2 years.

i have found that even though i haven't been involved with jw's for about 10 years, thier nails run deep.

First of all welcome as the others have welcomed me. I was brought up as a JW. I am going through a situation were my mother has sent me a letter stating her stand with the congregation. I never thought I would see this day but...then again I did. It looks like 2006 that it will be the year than my parents and brother will turn thier backs on me. I came to this site and Nicey...I can say that within minutes...I had gotten encouragement and ddid not feel alone.

On another note...as to recognizing you...unless you were in upstate N.Y. I don't think we ran into each other. I am glad you are here now!

Letter from Mom

First of all Happy New Years to all of you!

I finished DJ'ing a party last night from 6-9 (Mock New years for a Country Club) I then took my wife to Wild Bills to ring in the new year www.wildbillsatlanta.com. We rang in the new year and did not let the letter get to the both of us. We both love my parents and will keep doing so. Our door will be open to them always. I will write a letter back to her saying the exact thing without dragging in the society. It is about a mother and her son's love for her and that will be the message in the letter. I will keep you up to date with the letter to mom.

My sister in-law goes to Crossroads in Lawrenceville...I have popped in from time to time. It is totally different. It is the first chuch i have gone to ...1 that does not critisize another faith... 2 to it is massive so that you are lost...3 I did not have to wear a tie LOL

Well...here goes...I got the letter and mom goes on about how bad a job she did in raising me. I have not been in jail, I am not hurting anybody, and I am not a mean person. I think she did a great job. She says that the check for $250.00 was like a Christmas gift. The stuff I sent were not wrapped gifts. My brother wanted my old PDA, mom wanted a necklace that my wife wore on a visit to their home and dad wanted a jacket but, I sent him a college sweatshirt. It's funny that the only thing that came back was the check. She goes on to say that I have drifed away from the truth and that she is having to make some tough decisions and asks what should she do? I had a conversation with my brother and he laid a guilt trip on me saying that everybody asks for me...it's been 20 years since I left. If they were so intereted...call me. I think that my brother mentioned the conversation and this all got wound up. It makes mention that she is blood guilty because of my upbringing and that she in good conscience move forward until she wrote this letter. and end the letter with that I always love you.

I spoke with my wife and I will write the letter after my cruise in two weeks...tell me if I am wrong in saying... that my love for my parents will never change and that they we both moved on with our lives. It hurts me that I have to write this to my mom.

heck of a way to wind up 2005...well I am DJ'ing a NYE party for the same client for 5 years. Taking my wife to Wild Bills and celebrate and ring in 2006. I want to thank all that responded and welcomed me unconditionally to the board! I hope one day to meet some of you in person! :)

(UN)Expected development

part 1: my family and i stopped being active witnesses some 3 and a half years ago.

we did the fade thing, thus we are neither das nor df.

before we stopped, i served as an elder.

I did the same thing when I was 17 and now it's been 20 years and I get a letter from my mom that the check I sent was considered a Chrsitmas gift and that she could not accept it. It did not say Merry Christmas. My heart is heavy and I know your mind has got to be scrambled. They kept asking me if I was coming back. I guess I should have been blunt but, didn't and the letter with the check was opened by my wife thing it was a thank you card. It was basically a seperation letter. I am a disc jockey and celebrate many events. I am enjoying them all for the last 14 years. Keep your head up!

I to am new to the post. I was brought up a JW and left basically when I was 17 with no word. My parents went back and forth to the hall. Basically when it was convinient. In my childhood years my grandmother took me all the time...granted my mon and brother went as well. As time passed obviously I could not be the best man at my brothers wedding because of not attending meetings. I think what kicked it of is when I started my own DJ company and I performed at events that the congregation did not approve of.

I sent my mom and dad some money because business was good. I wanted them to go to dinner and a movie, by something form my grandmother...which she is in a nursing home. Also, to buy something for my brothers daughters. Mind you that the check did not say Merry Chrsitmas. My wife of 15 years gets a letter from my mom thinking it was a thank you letter but, it was a returned check and a long letter explaining her position. I am about to leave work and read it myself. Are there any ex witnesses in North GA that I can chat with. This has really just bummed me out and it's funny...we did not shut them out but, I feel like it was a good-by letter.

Those that know me ...realise I am one of the nicest and most easy going people you will ever meet. I am saddened that a religion has that much pull over immeadiate family members. I am not blind...its just I am not looking from the outside. I just needed to decompress. Thanks for letting me ramble.
