still in doubt

it's my 1st time to post here..i'm basically an open-minded person.

so it has always bothered me to think that there is only one true religion.i've always told this to my mom but she thinks otherwise.

i love my mom so much that i would do anything to make her happy but she knows that i have doubts.

Many people here think all jw's need to be rescued from the religion, or at least that's the vibe i've been getting. Now, i don't know about that. My mother and I have come to the conclusion God judges on heart condition, not religion. There are many good people in every religion. I'm sure a lot of people are happy to be Jehovah's Witnesses, and are kind people in every aspect of life, just as many Catholics, many Baptists, many Mormons, etc. It's the people who suffer that need out. But I say leave the rest in, if they're happy doing it. So gotcha, if you are happy where you are, then stay in. If not, then try a change. God knows you are a good person on the inside, no matter what religion you're in. If you live your life the way you do to make HIM happy, then I truly believe that's all he really cares about.

Why should people turn to religion then? in my opinion, you shouldn't. But that is only my opinion. It's easier to be strong with others who believe the same as you. As long as you're serving God in a way that YOU feel is right and that makes YOU happy, that is all that matters.

to all those who have in some way left the organization (be it disfellowshipping, disassociating, dis-whatever):.

come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.

the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?

*****Don't give me the "if you're so much in the truth how come you're reading apostate web sites" -routine.. I've been there, done that. I started my search for truth with these kind of websites. Freeminds.org was my first source of information about Jehovah's Witnesses. Today, I am a baptized brother in good standing. Goes against the statistics, eh??*****

See, the trick is, you're not supposed to announce your ignorance. If you read all the articles and know the real truth behind the religion, you really shouldn't be proud of still giving your free mind over to the watchtower and handing the rest of your voluntary actions to an organization. shame shame shame.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE FROM SCRIPTURES IN THE NEW WORLD TRANSLATION, USED BY JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. ALSO, I GOT THIS FROM A WEBSITE, BUT I FORGOT WHICH ONE. PLEASE DO NOT SUE ME FOR COPYING.

1) Jn 1:3 says that Jesus created "all things", but in Isa 44:24, God says that he "by himself" created the heavens and the earth and asks the question "Who was with me?" when the heavens and the earth were created. How can this be since if Jesus was created by God, then he would have been with God when everything else was created?

2) The Watchtower Society teaches that the 144,000 of Rev 7:4 is to be taken literally. If chapter 7 of Revelation is to be taken literally, where then does the bible say the 144,000 will come from?

3) The WTS teaches that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will not reside with Christ in his heavenly kingdom. How then do you explain Mt 8:11 in which Jesus says,"But I tell you that many from eastern parts and western parts will come and recline at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens?"

4) If Jesus was executed on a torture stake, with both hands together over his head, why does Jn 20:25 say "...Unless I see in his hands the print of the nailS...", indicating that there was more than one nail used for his hands?

5) Jesus uses the phrase "Truly I say to you,..." over 50 times in the bible. IN the NWT, the comma is placed after the word "you" every time except in Lk 23:43, where the comma is placed after the word "today". Why is the comma placed after "today" instead of after you "you" in this verse? If the translation of this phrase in Lk 23:43 was consistent with the translation of this phrase in all the other verses in which it appears, and the comma was placed after "you", how would it read?

6) If Christ will not have a visible return to earth, then how will he be seen by "ALL the tribes of the earth" (MT 24:30) and by "EVERY eye" (Rev 1:7) when he returns?

7) If the spirit of a man has no existence apart from the body, why does Stephen just before his death in Acts 7:59, pray to Jesus to "receive my spirit?" How could Jesus receive Stephen's spirit if a man's spirit ceases to exist when the body dies?

8) In Rev. 19:1, where does it say the "great crowd" will be?

9) In the sermon on the mount, when Jesus was addressing the "great crowd" (lk 6:17), why did he tell them in Lk 6:22-23, "...your reward is great in heaven..."

Subliminal Messages?

the posts on the previous topic brought this question to my mind.

a while back, i was looking at a website that had so called "proof" of subliminal pictures.

what i liked most about the site was it debated the topic from both sides, supporting the subliminal pictures and then chopping it down, leaving you, the reader, to make the decision.

The site was closed down for some reason, but it was interesting to think about. Does the watchtower really use subliminal messages in their pictures? i admit, some were a bit far-fetched, but to me, some seemed to be pretty unmistakeable. Whatcha guys think?

HI. I'm 16 years old, and i was baptized at age 10. Not really a sufficient understanding of the bible was needed, just one of the watchtower's rules and regulations. When i was 15, my older sister, who was baptized with us as a family, started cutting herself due to fear of armageddon. she opened the door for me. after she left, i followed, and my parents followed after that. we faded thank god, so no shunning came upon me. I did lose my best friend, but i now realize that he was only my best friend partly because we shared the same religion. I just wish i could've saved him. anyways, nice to meet everybody.

Hi 30. This board is a great place, and i too would love to hear your stories as an elder. All of the above posts apply to this one, and i'd like to add that losing some friends is a small sacrifice to getting your life back. I lost my best friend of 5 years because i left, but soon after, i began to realize he wasn't my best friend simply because i liked him. it was because we were in the same religion. now i have REAL friends, and i only look back sometimes. it feels good to have my life back. but like all the others said, take it SLLLOOOOWWWW.

Thanx for your thoughts everybody. When I tried discussing this issue with my mom, she just simply stated the Witnesses fall back scripture about the "greater number cooling off". I told her I think this scripture doesn't apply to only the witnesses, but the world in general's love cooling off for religion. Whatcha guys think?

Hey. sorry bout all the posts by me lately. i'm beginning to annoy myself. but here's a question i like turning over in my head, raised by a picture of somebody on the board ( that of an alien head ).

I'm fascinated with UFO's, and extraterrestial beings. they absolutely boggle my mind. Maybe it's because part of me wants something better than what is on this earth right now. I don't know. You can imagine how i felt after reading an Awake! stating UFO's were Satan's way of distracting followers of the truth. LOL. anyways, what do you guys think would happen if suddenly alien life was discovered? do u think there would be upheaval in the organization, or do you think they would work it into their "NEW LIGHT" system some how?

This question came to me while i was answering "nature's call". Too much info? probably. but this is when my best thinking is done.

Just wondering, how much longer does everybody think the organization will go on? It's been going on for quite some time, but with so much emphasis placed on this being the "time of the end", how much time will it take before people begin to realize nobody knows when it will come, and therefore cannot judge the time of the end. I mean, things could definitely get worse than they already are. I believe medieval times were worse than those today. So how much longer will this religion go on? I also wonder this as i see so many people getting tired of the religion, even after being in for so many years, and still leaving.
