It's not about crime. It's not about crime stats. It's not about criminals who use guns.
It's about: Who the hell is anybody to take away my choice to protect myself and/or my family.
Sure, somebody breaks in to your house and wields a baseball bat...what are you going to do? Oh I get it, you just say,"Please roving murdering psycho, please don't kill me...let me call the police first and wait 10 minutes (an hour if they are busy) whilst you wait and surrender yourself". I'm sure they'll oblige to such request, after all, criminal minds work in such a way.
I guess we should ban cars too. I mean after all, criminals steal them and go joy riding often killing people. Knives? Baseball bats? Rope? Let's add some more shall we? I mean come on! Maybe we should require citizens to wear boxing gloves, this way when roving bands of unarmed gang members take their sweet time when kicking and punching people to death.
Oh wait? What is that I hear? Only let the Police, Federal Authorities, and Military have guns? Sure why not. I was watching some old black & white news reels about how this country instituted such fire-arm control...I couldn't understand it...because it was IN GERMAN! I mean after all, government authorities are to be trusted, governments can never abuse such a responsibility of the only ones being armed.
Murder rates? Think they will go down? Ha...HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Jeez, please, don't tell me you've been sold on THAT ignorant pile of special interest crap! One thing we humans do is invent new ways and methods as to what we want to accomplish. Sure, let's say we ban guns, on this alone. Watch the "bludgeoning with blunt object" murder rate sky rocket! Or poisoning, or strangling, or....add some more please!
Yep...banning guns sure abolishes a lot of problems, the problems that stand in the way for criminals and governments to achieve their goals.
As to the opinion of gun-ban happy people from Netherlands (or any other nation) blah blahing about U.S. citizens' rights as to have firearms: Who give a flying leap what you think. Go jump in a lake, preferably one in your own country.
And for the people who like to revision history and play with the words in the 2 amnd. of the Constitution: Since it's draft, I still don't see your argument being enforced. Citizens still have their guns for 200 some odd years now, nothing has changed. Guess everybody doesn't see it your way. Too bad. :P
