  Problems with Common Atheist Arguments

  the reason i entitled this "problems with common atheist arguments" instead of "the case against atheism" is that many atheists claim that atheism is not a belief system, makes no claims, and has no requirements to follow, so there's no way to argue against atheism itself.

  And i like the Goat Herder Fallacy, its a good one, I honestly would not trust a professional goat herder to possibly do brain surgery, or build my car, or do a lot of things that are not goat herding related... is that so bad? I put dictate my moral obligations in that same basket I'm afraid... bronze age goat herders... please, don't drag modern herdsmen into this.

  tradition within christianity has long been that any time the phrases holy spirit, holy ghost, or spirit of godare used in the bible (especially in the new testament), it always refers to the mysterious third divine person of the trinity, who is fully god, co-equal to the father and son, yet somehow distinct.. i want to present a simplified alternative view: let the context determine the meaning!.

  (one thing to keep in mind is that the meaning of the bible words used for spirit basically is unseen force or invisible presence.).

  Are atheists more likely to be morally good than Christians?

  i have no problem saying atheists and christians are equal.. but some people seem to have the belief that atheists are more likely to be morally good, or more likely to change the world for good, than christians and theists.. but what evidence do you have to support this claim?.

  if atheism is what causes people to do great positive things for the world, then why weren't martin luther king, jr., william wilberforce, isaac newton, francis collins, barack obama, mother theresa, abraham lincoln, or john f. kennedy atheists?.

  The thing about religion and atheism and credit, is religious people do it for a pat on the back from god and every other human, its publicized far more, and atheist just does it because it's right, not to try and prove an atheist point.

  • Atheism Dictates NOTHNG

  If your religion asks you to do something immoral its the WORD OF GOD

  Atheism ask you to do nothing, it is up to each individual to gauge moral decisions

  FusionTheism. Absolutely not! Please do not believe everything you see on JW.broadcast, or on regular TV. I have a lot of family that conduct studies in Prison and I have had more than a few in federal prison. They are not converting atheists. They are finding run of the mill christians and making them JW cult members.

  I agree with religion and evolution you two. If you are choosing to stay stuck in a religious idea you haven't evolved. Man had many imaginative ideas during his evolution, they thought that disaster were brought on when ever a comet passed.

  You should both do some reading on the role that Oxytocin plays on both our social evolution and morality. Instead of crediting a bronze age desert god maybe you guys could give credit where credit is due.

  In 2013 a report was released by the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons.The report looks at all the federally run prisons in the U.S. — that makes up about 218,000 prisoners — and the inmates’ religious affiliations. When they say that less than one percent identify as atheist, they actually mean 0.07 percent. That’s right, 0.07 percent. That is way less than one percent.

  In reality, that number could be even lower. Seeing as how 17 percent don’t identify with any religious preference, this could mean more don’t believe in God(s) but choose not to identify as atheist. At the very least, they do not identify with any of the world’s major religions.

  So how can this be? When the religious right is constantly claiming a moral authority in this country, how can it be that they make up more than half (the report shows 28.7 percent identify as Protestant and 24 percent Catholic) of the prison population?
