New songs at meetings

today at the wt study one of the new songs was used.

how has this been going in other congs - at my hall about two thirds had it on either tablets or phones with lyrics on or printed out, rest just stood looking blank.

singing very poor.

My impression was everyone was lost. And totally indifferent. Back in the old days the jw songs sucked too but they were around forever. I remember my grandparents singing them all the time from memory. This new crap no one will ever sing from memory because they can't even sing it with the music and words right there.

if god exists, he must be a god of freedom.

because he has endowed us with free-will, and never interferes with it (as confirmed by our own experiences).

that means he wants everyone to make their choice and reap the fruits accordingly.

i discovered that my 96-year-old grandaunt had named her jw elder as personal representative of her estate and another jw "best friend" as her power of attorney.

i learned that they used a financial advisor at wells fargo advisors to help raid my grandaunts bank accounts in the years before her death, and then the wt and jws received most of what was left of her estate.

i am currently working on a book to expose this horrific practice.

This is what the person that wrote the Jesus story about the widow was talking about. And these a$$holes twisted it in their begging for money broadcast.

It's really sickening to see it in action.

venting: My wife is in cult mode again! she tried to start a fight..

so when i was at luch today, my wife was in full cult mode.

she started in on me about us not being able to hang with other witnesses and when i go to the meetings with her that i don't talk with nobody nor pay attention and act angry.

i told her that i don't want to fight and i have better things to do than argue.

I can relate all too well. Generally speaking my wife does try. But it's taken a while. And even still as hard as we both try the religion inevitably puts up a wall and things get awkward. Going for a long stretch now of things being just uncomfortable.

Are There Good People Out There?

even though i'm no longer mentally a jw (i still technically am) i do recognize that there are some benefits to being raised one.

for example, the first (and only so far) wordly guy i was involved with had to smoke weed every day and got drunk all the time and that was his idea of fun.

i couldn't help but feel bad for him.

Good is a broad word and means many things to different people. Jw good is not the same as my good. There are wonderful people out there. You need to take some time and get to know people without any religious morality. Have empathy and start to see people for what they are. Find out what good really means to you. Jw religion taught you to follow a social law they established. Sure some of those things are safety measures in life. But extreme. They also taught you that if someone believes differently than you they deserve death. Take some time and learn about people and "good". Fmf
