Shotguns have not been deemed problematic by the anti-gun folks, only semi auto firearms.

anyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.

i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

The guns amplified his capacity to harm others.
ok... take away the guns, would that have changed anything?
when you say "easy access" that has 100% nothing to do with law. its about determination.
I could drive into Canada from america and i guarantee you within 24 hours I could purchase a gun on the street illegally. technically access wouldn't be easy. Easy access is an illusion.
none of you think like criminals, and thats a good thing I suppose. But they love prohibitions. banning things does not make things "harder" for black markets. It makes people richer.

You cannot deny that america has become famous, not for gun crime, but rampage shootings. Why rampage shootings? They are sensational, get tons of attention, are horrifying, and generally the people are mentally ill! Not robbing a bank. Think about it people!

America has a problem with mass/rampage shootings.
These things have been sensationalized by the media, I remember when I was younger the shock of the columbine shooting, watching it live on TV. America changed. Those two assholes became superstars. And the media helped a great deal.
There was a pew study in 2013, most americans perception was that firearm related crime was worse than ever, even though it has steadily declined over the past two decades. This shows peoples perception by what they are force fed, and what is reality in numbers don't jive

an apples to oranges comparison of the statistics makes America look worse than and apples to apples stat comparison.
let us not forget america has 320 million plus people and yes, lots of guns.
don't let the media make all of you logical people start ignoring statistics.

If the issue is solely mental health, then you are claiming that America has more mental cases per capita than other counties.
I believe that is true lol
Also there are a lot of guns, so if someone choses to act violently they are probably going to use a gun.
I don't care about gun control as I have already said, legal or illegal ill have one, and I am not going to use it to shoot a reporter in a mental breakdown.
Would not having access to guns affect violent crimes in america perpetrated by maniacs???
I doubt it. Its not going to turn america into some sort of Utopia. The people who want t hurt someone with a gun will get one. This I know.
Supply and demand
America wants guns
America gets guns
Does the law affect that?
And if you have any dealings with healthcare in america, and you have worked with or know someone who works in mental health, there is a major problem in this country and it is the worst funded most ignored institutions. Our mental health system is horrible!
Simon perhaps it is the tone set by America since day one. The mentality of a gun toting country that is deeply ingrained in the psyche of the people. Of freedom. Just like this prohibition didn't end this countries thirst for booze, gun-prohibition wont end it's thirst for firepower, like it or not. So perhaps the amount of guns in this country lends to higher gun violence, sure, the question should be are stricter gun laws going to change the amount and access to guns. I say NO. So your point may have some truth, but I think the solution to it is fantasy. supply and demand, that transcends laws every damn day.

My dad was a criminal, so was my half brother, they had guns everywhere, all the time.
Do you think they bought any of them legally? Nope.
Could they have bought one legally. Nope
Did gun control have any bearing on the guns they possessed. Nope
If it was legal or illegal I will still own one. Criminals don't give a crap about "Gun Control"
If you really want one, in whatever country you live in, you can get one, even the ones where they are completely banned. People need to think more like criminals before commenting on such a thing I think.
How will more LAWS take guns away from people who own them ILLEGALLY. They are already ignoring laws. And if someone wants to hurt people they will find away, gun, knife, car, bomb, whatever.
A crazy person is a crazy person. if guns didn't even exist would this asshole who shot the reporters just have said to himself "well I don't know how I will kill these two people, oh well, guess I'll just do something else". Pretty sure he would have found a way and killed them.

Can anyone logically explain to me how stringent gun rights will take guns away from criminals?
Only facts please. If you say it will take the guns off the streets that's bs. I lived in NYC which had extreme gun laws (for america). And I could have made one phone call and bought all the illegal fire arms I wanted. People were shot regularly with ILLEGALLY acquired firearms.
lets say they ban guns, someone mechanically explain how that will prevent an insane or criminal person from getting on and using it please.
