hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.

i am not negative towards the wt at all.

so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

First off to freemindfade... I did recently come out to a couple of elders about ALL of my doubts. They were nothing but kind. And one of them I use to always feel had it out for me. They even recommended to me that I continue to serve as an elder.

hold it right there. First of all you started this by saying you are "questioning your faith in god". This is a very safe delivery of that idea. I know if you said this in front of elders they will love bomb you just short of s-cking your d-cik. I've been there too. With elder and the CO. I told them the same thing and they were soooooo cool. so helpful so sweet on and on. I promise you if you told them you don't believe in god. you don't think the FDS is god's channel for truth. or any other more direct things, their tone would have been less sweet and more "now just hold it right there". Doubts is an open door, that you are just weak and need help. I used that word for a few years and everyone is very sympathetic and sweet. Get into a factual debate about a TRUTH they don't accept, ie 607 bce, as soon as CD kicks in the sweet kindness goes out the f-ckin' window. You still want to believe in god, you still want to believe in this religion. You haven't become intellectually honest with yourself yet, and probably because it is a very uncomfortable metamorphosis and deep down you know that.

Don't feel like you are being attacked here. We all have differences of opinions here. On atheism. Christianity. Judaism. Muslim. All kinds of differences we don't agree with. However, when it comes to denial about the witnesses we all see the pattern that is familiar in ourselves or others we've known or know.

I agree with DOC, part of it too that you may experience that may have been part of it for me too, was a certain kind of pride, that hey I am too smart to ever be a part of something as bad as it is portrayed, yea I may disagree and walk away, but if I think it was as bad as reality, that means I, me, was duped! Well, I was raised in and as long as I went along with it for 3 decades, I was duped. I was wrong. Its bad and its a high control cult.

One day I asked myself, if I wasn't born in and the witnesses came to me at my door would I give them a second of my time? the answer was nope. From that day I completely stopped identifying with them as you are describing. Its just another harmful religion. One of many.

And again you say you don't have disdain? you are censored, you cannot share your thoughts and truths with them, once you do, even in the slightest, it will turn on you and you will learn to hate the religion. When you see loved ones acting out of emotion and CD and not rationality to you're and their harm. you will change.

You don't think they damage families? tell your witness friends and family you lost your faith in God and see how quick you are kicked to the curb like you never existed.

I'm not trying to be harsh. You just need to understand their control is not OK.

So honestly I am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the WT because I still love the organization and the people in it. But that is because I truly believe that in general witnesses are good people that are trying their best to do good. I have had my issues with many fellow JW's but I have been an ass plenty of times to not let that make a blanket statement of nefariousness. I only mention this because I don't plan on engaging with anyone that just wants to talk bad about the people.

I used to be this way exactly like you, to some degree. I lost faith in the bible, then god. And just told myself whatever, witnesses are good, i'd never call them a cult, and so on and so forth. I wasn't looking to rock the boat with relatives or anyone.

That was then. I still believe of course in good people in the org with good intentions. But that doesn't change they are harmful. It took me fully waking up and being the subject of difficulty from the fact it is a cult that caused me to see the danger and damage of the Jehovahs Witnesses.

As for your second paragraph this is a big question and the explanation is broad. part of waking up from god and a cult is coming to realize the indifference of the universe, and things you can control and things you cannot. As a witness you were indoctrinated with the idea of a just (in their mind) settling of ALL wrongs. the reality is this is not going to happen, but you may still carry the anxious idea that everything is immanent doom, and there has to be a complete solution to fix it all. Just remember the universe is indifferent, there is no grand plan to speak of.

Thinking the world is on its way to destruction (for and by humans) is it that strange and dire? Well dire I guess for us, but the truth is the earth has destroyed itself about 12 times now if my memory serves me right. Yep, the planet has had mass extinctions multiple times, why would we think those would be the last? Somethings survived but over all the place was destroyed as it was prior. Perhaps we as a group can do something to protect ourselves from ourselves, but this place earth is dangerous! We aren't the center of the universe, things weren't made for us, we can be wiped out. The good news is its not the desert god coming to get us. I know what I am saying sounds bleak but there is a lot of positivity on the other side of coming to terms with these things, then reinventing yourself as you were meant to be, not as a cult conditioned you to be.

I like your story, because I started the same. I am very happy, and positive, more so about life and being alive than I ever did as a witness. Welcome!

i'm sick of.... ...having an elder i barely know invite himself over to my house, and bring another asshole elder with him, you know, to "see how i'm doing" f-ck them.

...having same elder with all insincerity approach me at the beeting and before inviting himself over, ask, "how are you doing?

" then when i say everything is great, go ahead and invite them selves over anyway.

That being said, something that helped me be able to speak openly with my wife, was her seeing how the brothers treated me (we had a kangaroo court remove me as a servant, question my character, and try to trump up charges......it fell flat, but accelerated my fade).

This is partly what I am seeing that she is getting first hand exposure to the pressure of the group from a new perspective now. The more they bother me (while I am not bothering anyone) she is seeing it as a nuisance I hope

Going Nuclear - Marriage

has anyone here gone nuclear on their spouse and, all of a sudden, came out in the open as a jw opposer?.

by this i mean, sitting them down and saying: i no longer want to be a jw anymore, do not want to go to meetings or preaching anymore!

and, what has happened in the relationship after that?.

I have, somewhat slowly, but she knows I only go because I feel bad for her.

Clearly she doesn't like it, but she is afraid of losing me so no matter what she's not going anywhere, but it does cause strain being JW and awake apostate for sure.

Are the J.W's reaching a "Tipping point"?

i haven't been to a meeting in 15 years but my mother and sister are hard as j.w's.

the brothers they are appointing elders are at best suspect like one guy from my old hall made elder,big time drug used before becoming a j.w his talks are all over the place and would have struggled to make m,s years ago but with at least 60 to 70 % of young ones leaving the pool to pick from is at best reduced.. 2 other recent elders both young and zero life experience both on benefits one not well at all falls asleep all the time.. the decent,kind elders mostly older and are decent people with alot of life experience are burning out fast as there are so few of them left like 3 per congro of 100 publishers.. then you have the rich elders who wouldn't ever think of inviting some poor older or mis-fit person out to the expensive placers they go to as they couldn't afford to go so they are above the r&f and the r&f get pissed off with them.

then we have the ones who have "put the kingdom 1st" who are now old worn out and barely getting by from welfare cheque to welfare cheque that are saying "the system should have been over many years ago" it's still here and they are struggling everyday.. then there are the pioneers who have a low payed reduced hour job that seem to think anyone who has anything is totally materialistic and looks down on anyone getting a new car buying a house ect.. along with the child abuse issues,the generation change,access to information the the g.b don't want anyone to know ,not to mention the issues around blood.. is there a tipping point coming????

I feel 2014-2015 was their apex. I believe starting in 14 a lot woke up. And a lot more are showing signs of disatusfaction. But because it's a cult and "captive" religion, the tipping could be slow because so many inside that have mind that can wake up, may believe it's only them and fear not being a witnesses.
