Does Anyone Still Believe in God?

do any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?

even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.

the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

There was no time and space? What the hell did he/she/it occupy? And I am a fan of string theory, I think its hard to say that there is/was nothing before the "big bang". Just because we humans THEEE MOST IMPORTANT CREATURES IN THE UNIVERSE AFTER GOD AND ANGELS happen to occupy this material universe, why does our universe have to be the end all? We think so small and arrogant, and that is how we came up with the stupid idea that is god in the first place.

If the question is are their creatures on a higher level than us humans out there, I believe that is entirely possible and likely, do they have something to do with starting this universe, creating humans, giving us a purpose, or even knowing we exist, well that is a different story. There could be multiple levels of things superior to us, in both make up and consciousness, just like in the physical world of our own planet, why do you have to stop it somewhere and give it undue credit?

Thats like my dog looking at me and thinking (which he probably does) I created the universe for him... I am the highest being, infinitely intelligent , able to walk up right and drive a motor vehicle... I am the supreme being!! When i am just another species in the world, I have caused nothing.

i bet jesus would have been df'd by the "elders" in his day.

lets think about it, jesus hung out with "worldly" people.

his closest friends were known prostitutes, money collectors, men of "prominence" in the world of that day, non "beleivers" of the "faith" like samaritans, and many others that todays "elders" would have deemed "unworthy".. jesus spoke against the "organization" and "elders" of his day.

He was wasn't he? Disfellowshipping was a thing with the Jews at that time, banishing someone from the temple and wasn't he basically banished by the Pharisees?

He disagreed with a self proclaimed "gods chosen earthly organization", he spoke critically of them in public, he taught things against their doctrine, he was the ultimate apostate, and because of it, he was censored, shunned, and eventually murdered.

yesterday i was with a group of brothers that wanted my advice on re-roofing a home.

three of them were ministerial servants.

all of them are from the spanish congregation.

You did a good job, you are protected even if it was an elaborate hoax (which I am pretty certain it is not).

You planted a seed.

I still feel there is a "student" part, so I think saying they are doing away with it is a step further than the watchtower will explain. I think the school will just be changing. Because in the letter they used the words "student" I am hesitant to say they are throwing the school away, at least in their perception.

since the move, it has been so enjoyable to not have jw's breathing down our necks asking why we didn't make the meeting, or having to pretend to be "spiritual" in front of family all the time.. 90% of my week is virtually stress free.

then, my mom calls or texts wanting to talk to her grandkids.

every dang call, she asks about the new congregation, if we went to the meeting, etc.. why can't i tell her to fk off?

You may not need to DA. Maybe if you cross that line into WT critic they'll back off out of fear. Or they will push you into DAing. I feel personally it's only a matter of time until I DA. But I still feel the right time for that is in the future. I wouldn't call anyone a coward for their calculated steps with this cult. But if you want to test your courage maybe try this.

The arc is available publicly. Not on apostate sights. As a man with kids, you can say this is very disturbing and you need time to process the watchtower actions and ethics. And during that time because of your concern for your kids and the societies potential danger to children you are sequestering them from influence until you sort it out.

Now they will probably shit their pants, tell you to talk to the elders and so on. But if you get the courage to push them over their cd limit they will leave you alone with out DA. Many people on here who have spoke their mind to the family have been shunned without DAing. Just think about that.

If your Bethelite Brother Doesn't Know About It, It Musn't Be True

a few weeks ago my deeply indoctrinated father who is a long time elder was wondering why we hadn't been attending meetings, and why my 8 yr old son wasn't on the theocratic school ( sounds like i almost off the hook with that one...lol).

we live in a different state, but i came to find out that one of the elders in our hall called my father, who he never met, to see why our meeting attendance had been so sporadic (i am in my mid-40's, so that knowledge made my blood boil, to put it mildly!

i tried not to answer, but he kept pressuring me, so i brought up the arc and child abuse cases i had heard of in our area.

The theory of God was born out of three things in the past. Ignorance, superstition, and fear. Nothing good comes from those three things. It was founded on nothing more and since then it has done nothing except cause problems. It gives a broad stroke to explaining everything. The mere idea is the enemy of thought discovery and knowledge. A tool of the ignorance. God is a simple, false, stupid idea. There is not only no evidence of God there is no need. It's a outdated superstitious myth.
