Also since i do feel you are sincere in your questions, something to start to really dwell on is the way they speak about things. Often referred here as "double speak". Not that double speak makes you a cult in of its self, but it lends to things they use to deny being a High control group that fits the model.
Ie; our leader is jesus. When you really get attuned to the way the phrase things you realize they flat out lie about things, or present it in a way that does back flips to make the answer seem correct. Just because they say does NOT mean they practice it. At your baptism you swear yourself to THEM (the gb), if you tell your elders you disagree with THEM, THEY will have you banished.
At the ARC Geoffery Jackson made it seem like he had no idea what was going on, and doesn't have anything to do with policy, in fact other GB member on the stand have similarly played as if they were nobody, but within the group... we know what really goes on, they are calling shots, making policy, enforcing it.

I didn't attack you Richard. Just responding in my words to the OP. Cult and Religion are the same.
cult
kəlt/Submit
noun
a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
"the cult of St. Olaf"
a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.
"a network of Satan-worshiping cults"
synonyms: sect, denomination, group, movement, church, persuasion, body, faction
"a religious cult"
a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.
"a cult of personality surrounding the leaders"
synonyms: obsession with, fixation on, mania for, passion for, idolization of, devotion to, worship of, veneration of
"the cult of eternal youth in Hollywood"
Witnesses do fall into a systematic way of high control. ie dangerous cult. I faded out and didn't really think that at first, but then the more the onion was peeled back I realized they are full blown high control.

even religion that isn't high control like witnesses and scientology is considered a cult in the purist form of the word, and not all the things "cult" are necessarily harmful.
The difference comes when you say dangerous cult. which the witnesses in fact are. All religions are cults. So you cannot say cult or religion, the answer is always both. Now some cults are dangerous like the witnesses and some are eve far more dangerous than them. So as far as I know there is no cult scale showing where a religion falls on the cost of devotion.
Witnesses use undue influence, coercion, emotional manipulation, and the list goes on and on. They are not one of the laid back ones. I suggest you look up on you tube Steve Hassan on Joe Rogan's show. Steven Hassn still is religious and cannot deny that his form of liberal Judaism he participates in could not be called a "Cult". So religion always is a cult. We typically use the word though to describe fringe groups that control people, like the witnesses, but the word has a broad meaning.
jehovah's witnesses are a harmful cult

I am not trying to say guns aren't a problem
I am not advocating for any type of gun freedom agenda
I am simply stating that when I hear people outside this country speak of paranoia then buy in, they need to take a step back. Some of the things I hear are WAAAAYYYY off. The impression is people are walking down the street with guns strapped to their side, having shoot outs in the streets. Thats only really happening in the places no one is seeing on the news. And that image has little to do with one of these sadistic school shooters, or negligent parents.
Just calling it what it is outside of the paranoid bubble
Peace and love

i need some advice
by SpunkedTeen inyesterday i finally confronted my mom with my research about the wtbts being registered with the un as a ngo for ten years.she didn't get angry at all but she says she doesn't want to doubt the organization, i asked her if she realizes that if this is true what it means and she replied by saying she believes she has found the truth and that satan wants me to turn away from the organization.she also said that apostates make these very clever looking articles to lure us away.i told her that i avoided all apostate websites(which i did) and went straight to the un which confirmed it.i asked her to do her own research on the matter but she refuses to saying she is not going to live her life having doubts about the borg.
i don't think i can wake her up ,especially if she doesn't even want to think that the organization is not "god's earthly organization".. i was thinking that now that she knows about my doubts i can disassociate myself but as i only turned 18 this week and have nowhere to go if she kicks me out the house(my entire family are j-dubs) i don't know what to do to move forward from this point .do any of you have any advice for me ?
thanks in advance..

My advice
Slow down.
Take a deep breath and try to stabilize things and make cool headed calculated decisions on what you will do. Be in control. You have time now.
and this:
she doesn't want to doubt the organization
Is the way most witnesses feel, most would never want to know TTATT. If its wrong, they lose their dream, for many their lives work, their hope, they will feel incredibly "duped" as many of us do, and its too much to bare. This is in affect saying i want to stay asleep and blind because the alternative is too scary for me.
Good luck

If you take a quick google search of statistic for gun violence in just Chicago last week, you would see there is A LOT of gun violence, murders. This stuff doesn't make headlines, anyone wonder why?
Well it doesn't support the emotional value cappy is talking about.
There is a lot of gun violence going on, most of it with illegally obtained firearms, and committed by inner city areas ravaged with crime and poverty. But this is fulfills no ones agenda. its swept under the media rug. While a gut wrenchingly tragic story such as this one, is at the top of the news feed. All while this has been going on IN JUST CHCAGO.
Year To Date
Shot & Killed: 352
Shot & Wounded: 2002
Total Shot: 2354
Total Homicides: 400
These numbers are staggering! and you never hear them. You only hear about the deranged person who stock piled weapons in their home, then one day carried out their premeditated personal act of terrorism. Or something like this very sad story, it invokes strong emotion. It also lends to the paranoia that many of you outside of the US have acknowledged goes on here, that everyone you see is a walking armory about to lost their mind and shoot everyone. and the paranoia FEEDS the behavior of mass shootings, every single spree shooting in America recalls and immortalizes the shooters before, because they see the EFFECT and ATTENTION it gets. Everyone knows their names now, they aren't nobodies anymore... This is an adjuvant problem we now have to live with, just like if a radical islamist decides in the UK or Australia to hit someone with a car then decapitate them in the street... the paranoia and coverage of our information age may embolden the next monster to try to "one-up" the last one.

Shunning legal since 1987
by TheWonderofYou inlegality[edit].
in june 1987, the united states court of appeals for the 9th circuit upheld the witnesses' right to shun those who fail to live by the group's standards and doctrines, upholding the ruling of a lower court, finding that "shunning is a practice engaged in by jehovah's witnesses pursuant to their interpretation of canonical text, and we are not free to reinterpret that text ... the defendants are entitled to the free exercise of their religious beliefs ... the members of the church [she] decided to abandon have concluded that they no longer want to associate with her.
we hold that they are free to make that choice."[99][100].

Data, technically on jaydoubleyu.org it says they do shun. After some twisting of words and making it seem like you are free to leave, they then talk about disfellowshipping and do use the word shun -

Here is my thing. Most of us. Especially born ins chose this fate before we were adults. Anyone baptized before 18 this should fall into a different space.
