i'll start...... bully boy elders.
Fear
Obligation
Guilt
i joined the forum yesterday and made 2 angry posts which received encouraging replies.
i spent a good chunk of time today browsing various posts, and i can't get enough!
i'm doing things backwards now and taking a moment to introduce myself.
anyone else tired of this wt cliche?.
"a certain young man named eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep.
as paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead".
"Holy Sh!t... I think I'm in a cult!
i keep thinking about the time i will "come out" and tell my wife about this sick cult.
i don't know when that day will come, but knowing me i will seat down with her and ask her for 5 minutes to explain to her why we as a family has to get out.
my question is: what will you tell somebody in 5 minutes, that will convince that perdon that this is not a good religion to follow and that we have been deceived?.

the following is a paragraph from the new february study watchtower article "learn from jehovah's loyal servants.".
7 a conflict of loyalties may arise when a close relative is disfellowshipped.
for example, a sister named anne [1] received a telephone call from her disfellowshipped mother.
Holy crap!
They are getting intense. I sometimes wonder if someone in the writing department is awake. And really pushing their most embarrassing traits on purpose. That is insane. If this bit right here doesn't make cult alarms go off I don't know what would... sound like what someone in the dark ages would burning a heritic.
“The only way you can relieve your pain is by returning to Jehovah,”
did anybody else read this article and just think wth?.
sometimes god approves of war.. sometimes god doesn't approve of war.. when the israelites fought battles and won it was because god blessed them.. when they lost it was because god had not blessed them.. sometimes god fights for oppressed ones.. sometimes they must wait and have faith.. it is so clear that the bible contradicts itself on this issue and that the nation of israel had a totally different view of god than the early christians.
it is also clear that the nation of israel was highly superstitious and would attribute every battle's outcome to the whims of a higher power.
i know this question has popped up from time to time but i really would like to know how you guys, those that no longer believe, came to that conclusion?
was it the wts and all its crap?
was it something you read?
I heard something simple and amazingly profound last night
"truth is not controversial"
We could say facts are not controversial.
Beliefs certainly can be because we can believe things that are dead wrong and totally crazy. But real truth there is nothing you can do about it.
When you express an unfounded believe expect controversy. Express a fact and no one can dispute it unless they are just crazy.
"...those who preach humility should be the first in exemplifying it".-ray franz crisis of conscience active lurkers give this some thought
