I agree. There are some true gems from the great generation in there. Also a lot at that age weren't "raised" in it but converted so they are generally more well rounded to the real world.

One thing that the WTS & Religion in general has going for it ....
by Simon in... old people!
yeah, i know, as pete kaye would say: "old people, you can't beat 'em .... pity".. but seriously, where else would you have a bunch or 17 year old lads chatting with some 80+ year old guy?.
i remember some of the old people in our old kh and they were genuinely nice people.

A Comforting Thought About Watchtower
by freemindfade inthis organization will never again be what it was by 2013-2014. .
they peaked in the form they were, i believe they were already falling apart in ways, but from the outside and to the majority r&f, things likely still seemed on the up and up.
browsing through the boards and just keeping my finger on the pulse of what's happening, this organization will never again be what it was.

It will survive as long as it will. And it could go on indefinitely.
It will never be as big or influential as it was at its peak. That is my main point. However long its lifecycle will be, it's on the downside now, could take another century, who knows but it's never going back up again.

Scratchme1010 they follow the same pattern as Scientology who makes claim to their growth in square footage. Taking any money you do make (as a tax exempt religion) the only plausible thing to do with it is real estate. Then you aren't "profiting". My thought on their apex and decline has to do more with their indoctrination scope and grip. I think its slipping. In a decade or two they will probably be more like Scientology as a smaller more compact cult.

I think so. There is going to be a split. This is why I say there is not the collective mentality like there once was. I think for some who are very logical and have strong principles, they have to bend watchtowers rules in order to continue on. I've seen it in a few of my family members.
Also, I wish I could have been there with you all.

Yes, people debate whether it will decline or go away or not, over what time, and on and on. I believe most of us feel it will never be gone entirely. But the cult it was, is no more.
The way I see different people getting twisted up about the beard thing and other issues is an indicator of a lack of continuity they once had, and over things so small and trivial. It would seem they lost their swarm mentality. Even things I have seen with witnesses being more tolerant towards faders shows me things have changed a lot in more people's minds than we think. Are they going to wake up like many of us? Probably not, but I do believe they will stop taking the cult as serious and fade in a different less drastic manner.
So instead of fretting over what will become of the Watchtower cult, let's just take a moment to appreciate it will NEVER be the same again. However far that goes from here only time will tell.

"Intelligent" Witnesses
by megaboy inafter reading some experiences, i have found that this organization has had quite a big change in its operations within the last decade.
back when i was talking to the ocassional witnesses at a local hotspot i remember some of them having respectable intelligence.
what i want to know though is those who have been aquainted with who they felt were more educated and independent in thinking, how they handled the rapid changes.

It's become very topical and shallow. It's all about platitudes and Instagram posts.

"Religion of Peace" Busy In Europe Today...
by freemindfade inturkey and now berlin, the abrahamic mind virus strikes again... actually there is no confirmation the truck attack was islam, but... it's probably islam.
at least in europe, they call terrorist attacks just that, unlike here in america, we have become so crazy we have clear terrorist attacks, some over a year old now that they still question the motive ala san bernadino.. religion .

Put him straight in a container and drop it from a plane over ISIS territory.
"Amri had received a “toleration” status from the government."
wtf is that??? Toleration? I think Germany might be tolerating too much. I doubt this is the only jackass walking around Germany with "Toleration" status.

The prime suspect sought in the deadly attack on a Berlin Christmas market — a 24-year old Tunisian migrant...
as the subject of a terror probe in Germany earlier this year and was not deported following his rejection for asylum because Tunisia initially refused to take him back, a senior official said Wednesday.I know it's hard to imagine someone belonging to Islam, "the religion of peace", would drive a truck through a crowd, but it turns out its probably going to be just that... again...

The lengths the regressive left seems to go to to basically repackage these events seems to me to just pour fuel on the fire of the opposite extreme. You get normal people who are not extreme or racist or whatever you want to call it who want intellectual honesty getting mad because polliticians are pissing on them and telling them its raining and they see it.
Trying to separate these acts from the religion is a giant mistake. Islam is all the things liberals abhor yet they defend it so aggressively. A religion as a whole that refuses to clean it's own house shares guilt ala watchtower with child abuse. Constantly giving islam a pass will never help and granting open asylum to people from areas who's religious/tribal/ worldview is so hateful and unnaccepting of any alternative is also going to be loaded with problems.

Typical CNN crapola.
I am surprised their headline for the OSU attack didn't read "misunderstood immigrant drives into school safe space and shoots people with a butcher knife"
