So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?
by Simon init seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.
i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

A lot of the ugly rhetoric didn't come from a section of the crowd, it came from people with the mic stood on the podium.
Yes. Also all my social media feeds are clogged with similar rhetoric by anyone being extreme left, which is most my feeds.

Religion...is regarded by the rulers as useful
by flipper inlucius annaeus seneca, roman statesman, 4bc - 65ad: "religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.".
this comes to mind as trump has been throwing the word "god" around.
there are a lot of outwardly religious people in this government.. benjamin franklin: "the way to see faith is to shut the eye of reason.".

"And parading around dressed as female genitalia is a ridiculous shock value ploy." As ridiculous as a "pussy grabbing Donald Trump?"
Everyone keeps using this strawman that any issue with what is being discussed somehow endorses or condones Trump.

The left needs to regroup. Like an alcoholic admitting they have a problem, they need to admit why they lost to the orange goblin, then they need to make meaningful steps to fix it. They also need to take real, grown up action, donning vagina hats is great, hell I love vaginas! But the imagery is not as powerful as meaningful actions aimed at civil liberties and change. IMO this is one of the best presentation ever on getting shit done. You need to start with the 'Why'.

I have another question for this post, can you question the left without it being considered an endorser/apologist for the right???
Me: "I think JWS might be too lenient with pedophilia"
JW: "so you think I'm an idiot!? and you hate Jehovah!? You love satan and his system!? You want to hurt your family and God? How dare you"Simon and I have disagreed on many things before, but I am shocked the way he is being thrown under the right wing bus here for simply questioning what I would consider to be his own peers.

Simon's perfectly entitled to ask the question 'what is this march for?' It doesn't mean he is now a Trump supporter or a fascist.
True. I think the fact many of us consider ourselves rational, progressive and "liberal" makes this new regression era more frustrating. We are putting groups over individuals, and we have the new cult of the left where if any of your views, question or criticisms automatically warrant you being deemed the worst thing imaginable and worthy of being ostracized.
I loved darkmatter2020 on youtube, they said something to the effect of its ok to be extreme as long as you are my brand of extreme. How is madonna saying she wants to blow up the white house or trade BJ's for votes "Progressive", how is one of the founders of the March who openly promotes shariah in America and has ties to Hamas liberal?

My whole thing is they should call it what it is. It's a womens march/rally against trump/ current political administration and that is OK. But they should call it that. I feel its repackaged as something else which is intellectually dishonest. I am all for women marching, womens rights, 150%, even women marching and hating on trump. The modern version of feminists and many big civil rights movements are not holding to the formula set forth by people like MLK, who were extremely effective at getting things accomplished and not just making a scene. We knew exactly what they wanted to accomplish and they communicated it beautifully. That's my thing, and why i think I understand the OP

National Co-Chair of the Women’s March Linda Sarsour openly advocates for including sharia law in the United States... No-f-cking-thankyou!!
I don't know what modern feminism has become, but it doesn't seem to be really about equal rights, to echo's simon's OP, what is the mission? What is the goal?
