Ruby456, the problems with Islam are not isolated to "terror", no one calls it terror when they are killing apostates in saudi arabia, or treating women like cattle in Muslim countries. The whole thing is pandora's box of terrible ideas that go against everything those of us (true) progressives abhor.

Actually the failure of the Media was allowing D.Rump so much free air time. During the campaign you could not tune into Fox, MSNBC or CNN during the morning news shows and not see or hear the Donald tout his BS. The same with ABC, NBC,CBS. and we'll throw in the BBC as well.
I honestly believe to some degree he trolls them initially, mistakes and all.... something to think about...

The premeditated lie of Obama and Hillary to proclaim the Benghazi attack a reaction to a YouTube video about Muslims was far more disturbing and insidious (in the fake news department and beyond) than the careless blatherings of Trump, and still the MSM portrays his words as the greatest of scandal. It's exhausting. Trump has a lot of issues, but I guarantee you no other president in history has been such and intent focus of smear in all history, to the point of ridiculousness. -

Free press is critical.
Criticizing media (CNN, FOX whatever spin), is not a ban. It's not limiting, Google, twitter, youtube and most social media outlets that have MUCH further reach and views, but are very left slanted as well, and quick to censor.
History without fail teaches the mistakes that happen when the citizenry is not informed. No free press, no access to real information, no accountability in a democratic government.
I do not consider the blaring rhetoric of CNN on the left or any similar and FOX on the right and any similar as "informed". They give you ONLY the news that reinforces THEIR agenda, and they spin it hard. That's not informing, that's propaganda.
Also the blatant meddling between CNN and Hillary is a good indicator that a station like that is not information but an Orwellian mouthpiece of the democrat elite. Known collusion

Now... while I do not agree with Melanie or the GOP mixing religion in politics (i do feel it's an overreaction in the news), how can the left venerate a religion (islam) so dearly, especially by so-called modern feminists, a religion that in its majority countries literally (not exaggeration) treats women like farm animals. ?????
The MSM media is promoting the news it chooses and spinning it in its favor, I don't know if "fake news" is the right way of describing it, but its something.

I actually figured that "Extremist Islam = bad" was a settled issue by now on this forum
I don't believe so, some still associate it as an "oppressed group" and that means they are "good". I think it is safe to say if the shoe was on the other foot, and I was strolling through their country, most of these individuals would have no problem with me being beheaded as an infidel, and god knows what other unspeakable things. I know plenty of people personally who have served in these countries. They make no qualms about this being an absolute fact.
That is why I think it's silly to just think because people are in trouble makes them "good". or "ok" or "peaceful". No, I don't believe they are all going to come here and start committing terrorism, but my heart is not bleeding for them either. I believe its a shame people are suffering, but the suffering is a result of the ideologies they are clinging so strongly to, and our progressive way of life is not a cure for the horrible ideas they hold close to their hearts. They won't suddenly stop hitting their wives because DEMOCRACY. It doesn't work that way.
I just think its ok to be realistic, but in our trigger-warning-safe-space-oppression-Olympics America, you sound like a tyrant for not subscribing to the utopian idea this is just another religion, oh and a peaceful one... (rant not directed at you bohm, just ranting in general lol)

I am cautious of bad ideologies and those who subscribe to them literally, I am also afraid of groups holding those ideas that are somehow above scrutiny because they are changing OUR good ideologies, not their bad ones.
We have no trouble criticizing JWS for fostering a protection of pedophiles, why can't we criticize Islam for its protection of extremists?
