Why is Trump so effective???
by Coded Logic ini think trump is an absolute idiot.
his tactics, however, are undeniably effective.
thought i'd just put together a short list of some of the things he does.

1.) I'm not sure it's fair to compare President Clinton's actions to President Trump's actions in regards to the State Department because it sets up a false equivalency. To be clear, the issues is NOT that Trump is putting his own people in charge. Rather, the issue is that Trump has fired nearly every leadership role in the state department MONTHS before he will be able to get conformations or replacements for them. This is a huge problem for a country seeking a leadership role in the world. Gutting the State Department is like turning the US into a sailing ship without sails. Trump can spin the helm to his hearts delight - but the ship isn't going anywhere.
And this is nothing like Bill Clinton who had his replacements lined up and ready to go BEFORE dismissing any prior appointees. Trump is just being plain reckless.Fair point. You are correct. It’s nice to have someone on here who thinks these things through in a discussion thank you
I still feel this doesn’t concern me so much because Trump has clearly been on a mission to shrink “government”. So I think the media is presenting it as chaos, when rather it’s his move to redirect money into American problems within the country, not outside.
Another thing to consider is what has out state department become? It has become a “political” state department. From 1789 to about 9/11 that’s not what it was. Now it’s another bloated government agency spilling and crossing over into other departments. Originally the state department was about diplomacy and negotiated treaties and ended wars. Now? Hmmmm… can you or anyone tell me what the Department’s Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region of Africa does?
I don’t think he is eliminating the state department, I think he is putting it on an extreme diet. The results have yet to be seen, but I am still not sold on global apocalypse because of thrashing what has become another bureaucratic quagmire.
2.) I'm not sure why you're saying MSM is "making stories" about Kellyanne Connoway. The only persons responsible for the parade of nonsense coming out of the mouths of Trump's media team are - Trump's media team. The fact that they habitually run around peddling conspiracy theories and false narratives is deeply concerning. And, more importantly, a great many articles and air time has been spent on Scott Pruitt's scientific illiteracy.
It is possible to cover both the lies/idiocy of Kellyanne and simultaneously cover the lies/idiocy of Scott. News is not a zero-sum game.I disagree with you on this. Not that Kellyanne says or do stupid things, but that the MSM’s inability to resist obsessing about it is a good diversion tactic if Trump wants it to be. Why play his game? A true scandal is going on, have Kellyanne say something crazy, suddenly the MSM channels are choked and jammed with nonsense because of their insatiable appetite to be entertainment (not news). Our news media has become sensational entertainment media, and the Kellyanne circus plays right into click bait headlines, and twitterable sound bites. I don’t buy it. I would not be surprised if more often than not, its calculated diversion. The media is like a dog chasing a tennis ball, throw it over there, they all run.
3.) Your comments regarding the UN remind me of when my congregation went to visit Bethel and we stopped at the UN building along the way. The brother conducting the tour went on about how, "since the UN was formed there have been over 300 wars" and how it was a total failure.
Of course, what the brother failed to mention was all the wars that the UN had STOPPED from ever happening. He failed to mention all the wars that were shortened in length because the UN intervened. He failed to mention all the treaties signed that prevented countries from using chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons on the battlefield. And he failed to mention all the cases in which the UN managed to broker a lasting peace between countries.
The value of the UN cannot be overstated. And to threaten to abandon it like Trump has is a fools gambit.Do you have a list of great accomplishments of the U.N. in peacekeeping? Their sessions are a joke. In the 1960s Ayn Rand (I know I will catch shit for quoting her) said: "What would you expect from a crime-fighting committee whose board of directors included the leading gangsters of the community?" Here is something I cannot overstate (even typing it is such a joke). THIS IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT PUT IRAN AND SUADI ARABIA ON ITS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL. If that is not the height of ironic stupidity I don't know what is.
Symbolically it may be something, but in action, I don’t know. Most of the “peacekeeping”, even when the U.N. was involved, was carried out by the U.S. military.
Since the inception of the UN, there have been hundreds of armed conflicts around the world. Your bethel brother was right about that lol. The UN authorized the use of force just TWICE to my knowledge (Korea and Gulf War I). That means if you live in a country where war breaks out, you have a 0.0083% chance that the UN will actually send troops to help you out! (as long as you don't mind that 90% of the troops who show up are American). That’s reality.
THE U.N. IS BAD VALUE FOR THE MONEY.
4.) Between January and September of last year the US Coast Guard seized over 416,000 pounds of cocaine (with an estimated value of 5.6 billion dollars). And by the end of the year it had intercepted additional 26 tons of cocaine. I'd hardly call that a "negligible impact".
This is something I happen to have some life experience with. The “War on Drugs” to me is one of the biggest wastes of money. This is a game the government chooses to play and not stop. Its all a show, that goes for the DEA as well. Occasionally catch a few bad guys (sometime a prearranged deal), make a show, keep the agency going. I don’t think the main value of our coast guard is the war on drugs. Our own CIA is so deeply involved with cartels and other shit it’s not even really a war. Just another circus to keep big government spending money on BS.
Perhaps if we had smarter drug laws (aka educating people on safe recreational use instead of felony charges) we wouldn't have to spend so much on our Coast Guard. But that's a whole separate topic.
Drug laws make no sense to me. If you want to do coke, they are not going to stop you, just punish you if you get caught. Like you said this is a whole other major topic that we probably agree on.
I respect all your opinions coded, I just think we don't agree on certain things and thats cool

Some of my left leaning friends have turned rabid.
It's purely anecdotal, but I have observed more from the left-tribe SHUNNING those of the right-tribe or even tribeless for simply disagreeing with them. I have not seen that from conservatives or libertarians. That is just my experience though.
A friend of mine told me this morning referring to our bipartisan politics, that its tribalism, and being an EXJW broke him of anything tribal. I feel philosophically most people in this country are more libertarian, just wanting freedoms and agreeing with some things but not all. I find it silly to join a political "team"
They feel a loss of the previous control and can't figure out how to deal with it.
yes, and they are lead by emotion (kinda like religion). The American left has become and emotional basketcase. And most the MSM media outlets are pumping out outrage propaganda. They dangle the hate Trump carrot in front of everyone and they follow it right into a hissy fit whether or not its warranted. The firing of the attorneys is a good example, there is really nothing new or unusual about that, HOWEVER, according to CNN! woah ho ho LOOK OUT. lmao. Between CNN and Celebrities telling them what to believe, oy vey...

1.) Trump's administration has gutted the State Department and is severely curtailing the US' ability to respond to world events.
Ok, lets start here. It wasn’t a big deal when Janet Reno and Bill Clinton did it back in the day, its not a big deal now. The “tribe” of the left and its dog on a leash media is feeding you more silly outrage. As usual the regressive left’s memory is very short and selective, like a few weeks ago they hated the CIA now they love the CIA. And when I say left I don’t mean you Coded, I think you are probably a middle dweller without the tribe of left or right like myself.
2.) Trump has put in charge of the EPA a man who doesn't believe in global warming.
This is bad and scares me too. No Bueno. This is worthy of people speaking up, sadly I think it doesn’t get enough attention because MSM is busy making stories about the exploits of Kelly Anne Conway and the rest of the media circus crew.
3.) Trump wants to cut funding to the the UN by over 50% which would cripple peace keeping operations all across the globe.
How useful is the UN in actual peacekeeping? Here are some failures:
• Darfur
• Bosnia
• Rwanda
• Khmer Rouge (Cambodia)
• Iran
• Congo
• Haiti
• Eritrea
• Syria
• Srebrenica massacre
• South African Apartheid
• Iraq Food for Oil program
• Handling of the cold war
• Middle East peace process
• Kashmir province dispute
• Cancellations of investigations against Lybia, Cuba, Belarus, Sudan
• Policy against terrorism
• Policy against child abuse
• Policy against Human Trafficking
• Policy against Slavery
The UN is at best a joke.
44 out of 127 resolutions by the United Nations Human Rights council, up to 2014, are against Israel. So 35%, over a third of the violations of human rights in the world occur in Israel, and the remaining 65% by... the rest of world. I am sorry does that make any sense???
• Contrast that with
• Sudan – 1
• Afghanistan - 1
• Iran - 2
• Libya (Former Human Rights Council president...I shit you not) - 3
• Yemen - 3
• Syria - 10 (Somebody should tell that to the family of Aylan and Galip, the two drowned Syrian children, they would be glad to hear it isn't that bad there)
• Israel - 44...
How about The United Nations Women's Rights Council.
UN Claims Israel is World’s Worst Violator of Women’s Rights in the world http://www.algemeiner.com/2015/03/20/un-claims-israel-is-worlds-worst-violator-of-womens-rights/
• Not Syria. Where government forces routinely employ rape and other sexual violence and torture against women as a tactic of war.
• Not Saudi Arabia. Where women are physically punished if not wearing compulsory clothing.
• Not Sudan. Where domestic violence is not prohibited. There is no minimum age for ‘consensual’ sex.
• Not Iran. Where every woman who registered as a presidential candidate in the last election was disqualified.
• Not Congo. In which decades of Mass Sex abuse and rape have gone un-handled by the U.N.
Israel….
4.) Trump wants to cut funding to the coast guard by 1.3 billion dollars which would allow illegal drugs and weapons to flood into the country like never before.
I think there may be a contrast to his focus on border security, I am not really sure though, I have to claim ignorance on this one. But in any event weapons and illegal drugs are flooding the country already, the coast guards impact must be negligible.
5.) Trump wants to cut funding to the TSA and FEMA by over 900 million dollars which would make already long airport lines even longer and severely inhibit our ability to react to natural disasters and provide funding to states declaring emergencies.
This is too bad, but still not feeling the out rage though. But I don’t agree with him
6.) Trump wants to increase our nuclear arsenal which increases the risk of proliferation and increases the likelihood of other countries starting nuclear programs.
I also don’t agree with him. But still not running to a bomb shelter yet lol.
7.) Trump is poised to start a trade war with our two biggest partners in trade - China and Mexico which could skyrocket the price of food and goods here in the states.
It could, but they could also fold. Where are out balls? We bend over and take it in the butt from the rest of the world and are so afraid to take a strong stance. We play the worlds police, and consumer, but we are somehow afraid of upsetting them? Again, the effects of this are not known, why jump to conclusions.
8.) Trump has said he wont defend members of NATO which has greatly increased the threat of Russia to our European allies.
Who pays the NATO bill?
"We spend about 75 percent of the entire cost of the military aspect of NATO. Given the fact that France has a very good health care system and free public education, college education for their people, the U.K. has a good National Health Service and they also provide fairly reasonable higher education, you know what, yeah, I do believe that the countries of Europe should pick up more of the burden for their defense."- Bernie Sanders
This is about a half true statement in reality, it’s a very complicated thing to decipher. Really America represents 72% of NATO, that doesn’t fall within NATO itself. Obviously part of America’s role is forces, equipment, and bases around Europe. So NATO or no NATO, America is paying a lot of money to protect Europe. That’s good for us, but maybe more should come from Europe to protect itself… no???
9.) Trump as made of White House Press Office a bad joke and the office of the President lacks all credibility. When the wolves really do show up no one is going to believe Trump because he's cried wolf WAY too many times.
Opinion, Obama did have a much more eloquent and mutual masturbating relationship with the press. Trump I feel uses the circus that is the media against them. I agree, but I also don’t feel this is worth safe space outrage.
10.) Trump is making health care unaffordable to the lower middle class but is giving huge healthcare tax breaks to the rich.
I don’t care because I am screwed either way. Obamacare made it worse for me than before, if Trump scraps it, it will still be not great for me. I am failed to be outraged once again.
To change things all this self-gratifying outrage needs to go the f-ck away. Even if he is doing somethings wrong, actions and cool heads speak grater volumes than anyone standing up to fly their own virtue flag for their selected tribal ideology. If anyone is going to fix this and change things, it’s not Left or Right tribal nonsense. The outrage culture that now exists is SELFISH. Not effective.

Anyone who understands Trump's personality will realize that people like him will erode our system of checks and balances if given the chance.
And what would you base that on? Forget Trump for a second, a lot of the nonsense in place that he is using or abusing was put there by the "Giver" American left. I think everyone is terrified of Trump for breaking down government not increasing its overreach. I do believe many want to live in that controlled "utopia" where harm is reduced because people just can't be trusted. Not me.
Anyone seen the movie the Giver? very interesting. I would put that dystopian reality as a future of where we have been headed with Bush/Clinton/ Obama era's. I feel the left is more aggressive for overreach, but the right is there too.

Well, I think no matter where the news lands on their chart they are capable of delivering facts that other will not. That goes for left and right. I think this has to do more with the degree of slant. I always reference that a progressive liberal Maajid Nawaz has to go on Fox news to be heard. Does that make him conservative? or wrong? I don't think so. But he doesn't fit the CNN (1984) mold. I dont agree with everything on the chart either, to me CNN should be moved pretty far left.
What really concerns me about the media is that the internet has given us access to what should be unfiltered news. However, I always check google news for headlines and I see this leaning the way the MSM that represents the regressive American left. Stupid non-stories make it to the top, if its negative about trump its all top news, if its negative about the left, its hardly on the radar.

I tend to like NPR, BBC, most other on either side I don't feel like I am hearing the news, rather being persuaded about WHAT to believe based on WHAT they want to report. "Fake News" is almost becoming a subjective term.
- Does it mean outright lies?
- Does it mean something that is not 'news worthy'?
- Does it mean skewed propaganda rather than news reporting?
I feel #2 & 3 are more often what is going on.
