  much has been discussed here about the similarities between jws and scientology.

  when i read this article on salon.com, it brought home to me the methodology that all cults, including jws, use to indoctrinate believers.. http://www.salon.com/2015/04/17/secrets_of_the_scientologists_why_people_do_horrible_things_for_belief/.

  its only after years of training, after they have told the church every private fact about themselves, that scientologists hear about xenu and humankinds alien origins.

  Yea me as well, the worst part for me is I have a large family I am (was) very close to. And overnight I am treated like satan. I have good days and bad days. Taking 35 years of amazing relationships and waving goodbye is not easy, even though I am not DF'd or DA'd. I have thought it would be better for my mental state to DA, but I have a handful or more of very good friends that I would lose also who have no idea whats going on.

  I am usually pretty peaceful and passive, but in the past when the elders flexed, I have shot them down big time. Like get in their face. This was a long time ago in a different place (west coast). Elders out there are a special kind of @$$hole. East coast I find them much less power trippy around metro areas.

  Fascinating... I would love to show this to some R&F, although as with most negative info about the org it worries me, how so?

  I would be willing to bet that in this lovely orwellian organization soon if you share things from the pre-2013 silver bible to show the deceit of the great publishing company of YHWH, you (ironically) will be deemed an 'apostate'

  el oh el...

  There are so many skeletons in the WTBTS closet that when you bring them up everyones knee-jerk reaction is screaming apostate and running the other way, maybe the pre-2013 bible will become another part of JW history that if you refer to it gets you labeled apostate, again, total irony with the OP.

  wow. Direct parallel. In all of my dealings with my family yelling at me for being an apostate it always ends with the same thing at the end. "if its not the truth I have wasted my life". Its a strange admission, because everything else they say, 99% of the conversation is about bad mouthing me for not believing in god, and why the org is where its at, but inevitably, usually with tears, they make this admission. Basically all they have invested is lost.

  People believe in Xenu and thetans because it becomes exceedingly difficult not to in light of all they have committed to the church.

  So when I read this I hear that subtle admission they all slip into the cognitive dissonance rant. They are overly invested. its insane.

  from the draw close to jehovah book in chapter 11 paragraph 10 it says this:.

  10 to find out why god allows suffering, we need to think back to the time when suffering began.

  when satan led adam and eve into disobeying jehovah, an important question was raised.

  At the very least it shows that God interfered to make sure they weren't ok without him. Brings up another question. If he ALLOWS suffering because he can't interfere to prove his point, why was it ok for him to interfere this way to MAKE SURE and prove his point. Double standard.
