Have we become what we despise so much?

the majority of members who tend to join this forum have been hurt possibly even traumatized sometimes to the point of wanting to end their lives.

upon joining the forum, new members are welcomed with open arms, welcome messages start pouring in, "likes" are freely given, a false sense of security is promoted where a member is free to speak his mind without having to worry about the wt gestapo.

again, similar to how potential converts are welcomed and "love bombed" upon entering a kh for the first time.

Nooooope. We were selling bad ideas. And clearly you haven't left far enough from the organization to realize that it was group think. As i said in great detail earlier, the things that create heated debates on here were not personal ideas/thoughts we could entertain before, but were censored and spoon fed to us by "mother". Religion/God, Politics, World affairs. We were provided the answer we were suppose to give to all those things. No its not the same.

There is no spoon feeding out here. Everyone is on their own. And I see the debates as a healthy sign of that very thing.

Half of the cong was dancing last night

Not all is bad or some much worse than other.

A lot of personality issues come from time in a cult. That is something to be sensitive to without judging

I'm going to break my "not going to midweek meeting" record and attend the circus tonight to see this joke. The worst part will be afterwards listening to people who were clearly thrown off and confused justify how its all good and the changes are just the best.

This probably more accurately represents the exit of most apostates. They do it because of honestly. All honesty should start with intellectual honesty. But again there are all types but this story should give you hope.

You are on the right track. Human behavior and morality is so complex. Just keep asking questions. While I feel the way you said what you did raised some people's defenses I think you are sincere. So keep asking and keep opening your mind.

There are all type out there dude. Honestly reading cedars story and Paul and seeing sincere people waking up on you tube helped me out a lot. I think before the information age if you were in the organization your impression of apostates was the people outside an assembly screaming and acting insane and in their defense they had very little ways to outlet their frustration. I believe there is a new generation of apostate that are not that way or maybe it's same as ones that have always been there they are just more visible. This is a pretty big generalization of "apostates"

There are good and bad people inside and outside religion believe it or not. Time to shed the us against them mentality. There is also what we consider bad. The lady you speak of I don't know her circumstances but maybe she married someone because of the organization. Maybe too soon. Too young. Never had enough other experiences. I don't know. But the way your morals are given to you in the watchtower when people are on their own what do they have? It's not a justification but being raised a jw doesn't really equip you morally. It makes you a robot.

is there a way i can successfully live a double life?

don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to get engaged in activities that are condemnable according to the *bible* (not the *wt*) standards.

i figured that the only way i can get the brothers and sisters to leave me along is by pretending that i am an unemployed drop out.
