If the video was a mother explaining to her child how Muslims can't enter into paradise this forum would be beside itself in how "racist" it is. This board is so ironic sometimes.
Something actually worthy of social anger comes along (kids being programmed for homophobia in a cartoon) and its "what is everyone so upset about?"
Again maybe you guys have been away from actual witnesses too long, the sugar coating in the cartoon and in watchtowers does not reflect how vitriol and homophobic witnesses actually are.
The way this cartoon deals with children is what I find most outrageous. What does "not getting into paradise" mean to a witness??? Cofty? Simon? Steve2?? Does little Sophia and all other jw kids know what that means? Bet your ass they do. And if you think it doesnt have that implication congratulations. You've forgotten what it was like to be a witness. Even non-witness journalists have enough brains to figure out the message.
Why don't you guys believe the the witnesses don't shun people?? Same principle. With cults its less about he definition of words and their implication in context of the cult system. You are denying the message based on the semantics of the words used when the purpose couldn't be more clear. "It didn't say her parents will die at Armageddon so the implication doesn't exist right?"

Angst and the Jehovah's Witness Mindset
by cofty inthere is no typical jw personality type.. any of us who were in the religion for a number of years will remember all sorts of individuals.
there is as much variety among jws as there is in the general population.
some were arrogant and judgemental but others were humble and kindly.

I agree with this op whole heartedly. 100%. Letting go of that angst and seeing the world for what it really is is an unimaginable weight off your shoulders. When you are out and go back and listen to any public talk you will see how much of an angst buble the witnesses live in.
Also learning that action instead of "preaching" and useless dogma makes much more of difference in the world

Yes JWS have always been anti homosexuality, yes they indoctrinate their kids, but this is a highly visible ugly demonstration they have signed their name to. The thing that really made my blood boil when i first watched this wasn't shock that JWS are anti-gay, it was the audacity of publishing a children's cartoon about such a thing. It sickened me to see any group (JW or not) showing how to teach your child to take discrimination to school!
As one new article summarized it:
Cute, computer-animated, religious kids shows are nothing new, but One Man, One Woman is something different. In 2006, VeggieTales was largely stripped of its Christian messaging when it was broadcast on network TV. One Man, One Woman, on the other hand, has problematic overtones that come with instructions teaching kids how to proselytize on the playground.

New Spiritually Weak Label: Not Using Tablet/iPhone
by Doubtfully Yours inwith last night's meeting it became official: here in the states is a must to keep up with 'jehovah's org' that one fully jumps on board with this tablet/iphone crap.. so, now, all of us that up to this point have refused to follow the wtbts in their electronic/wireless revolution will deal with the browbeating from the 'spiritual' ones.. already receiving lots of grief from hubby and rest of the family/close friends when seen at the meetings with paper publications.
