I too have likened being in the Society to the works of George Orwell. 1984 struck a cord with me, and described certain aspects of my life that other people could not understand.

Excerpts from '1984' by George Orwell--Part 1 (Warning to the impatient: DO NOT READ)
by sd-7 inyou folks play aggressively here, and i'm starting to understand why.
but let's not waste time.
life as one of jehovah's witnesses could accurately be described as an orwellian nightmare come to life.

I'm sad you feel 'outed', i hope this passes.
From the perspective of us Ex-Members, we just want you to feel as we do and discover 'the other side' of life and the Witnesses. Not to cause hurt but to educate, letting you see things as they truly are. Sadly the world is not Black and White, there is knowledge out there that would 'rock your world' so to speak.
It is your responsibility to choose your future, we shouldn't try to influence your feelings toward the Society, but as a genuine follower of God, you should seek to find the truth.
Regardless of your faith, welcome, please stay and participate.

i think your question is an important one for Jehovah's Witnesses as well, who worry by leaving the Organization there is nowhere else to go for them. there may not be a set place, and a busy schedule but life can be much more fulfilling.

the ridiculous thing is, that they claim all their materials are inspired. if that is the case, they are merely a vessel, speaking the word of God. they are now copyrighting God's word?

MY B-I-L IS IN THE HOSPITAL
by Mary inhere's another update on my brother in law:.
my sister and b-i-l went to the cancer center in toronto earlier this week to see about getting the stemcell transplant for his disease.
it was actually an encouraging visit as the oncologist there said that they did not feel his condition had progressed into the acute myloid leukemia yet and that he had longer---up to 2 years---than what his local oncologist had said.

I can't lie Mary and say that i know what outcome all this will have, its you faced with the harsh reality of it, along with your Sister and Brother in Law. Remember, your Sister has you to support her and on that score, you'll know you won't let her down which can only be a good thing.
Take care and let us know what the story is. I wish you all the best.

BlueGrass, it is not me who has pain left to bare, but some of the individuals who still come here seeking the freedom to 'let off steam' without being judged by men who will never the time to understand why there are genuine reasons, for these hurt individuals to act on their emotions and feelings.
They have been wronged, and there is no one except themselves to pick up the pieces. You won't be able to comprehend this perhaps, because your already formed opinion on us as a group, but imagine the joy they feel when they discover they are not the only outcast, and have once again found belonging.
What does happen, eventually is that these people leave here, beginning a new chapter in their life. Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses are not to be scorned upon, they are unique in a special way, because not only have they learnt a great deal, but they have the opportunity to start a new chapter in their lives that seems that bit more meaningful. They take the world face on, relishing the opportunity to examine everything without fear. It would be like growing up seeing only in black and white, to suddenly being able to see in colour. The difference is extraordinary.
As mentioned in a previous post, some have come here so downtrodden and weary they have taken their lives. We have felt that loss strongly, not necessarily because we know them personally, but we identify with them and can understand their reasons. When you intiated this Topic, your broad sweeping statements were a kick in the teeth for those who deserve a break, and a total lack of respect for ones who are no longer with us, because of the Watchtower Society, which left them out in the cold.

The only weak thing i ever did was stay in the Witnesses longer. As regards to your comment about 'us guys' being unable to read well, i think you'll find it is you who struggles to read, or perhaps the Society teach their sheep to actively seek out association with its ex-members?
Your hypocrisy only serves to show your weakness. That you'd sooner kick a man while he's down, than follow your Organization properly.Perhaps, as an exercise to further develop your reading skills you might learn about the ridiculous things your religion has done over the last century? That is, of course if you can fit that in around the crammed schedule you have. Ministry, Meeting, Ministry, Meeting, Ministry...i don't envy you when i'm having a nice lie in on a Sunday Morning.
Oh, and before you tell me about the imminent destruction that awaits us all at Armageddon, take a moment to consider the District Convention, less than a decade before 1975 where the witnesses were told from the platform that this wicked of system of things would soon end. Ironic isn't it, that all those faithful people, just like the thousands before them failed to see the end which you so eagerly look forward to.
Remember one thing, just for me. You will see old age, you will grow sick and weary in this 'system of things'. You will never see another. Accept it or not, that is how it will be.

BlueGrass, you appear a little confused. You no doubt feel proud, registering on an apostate site to give us a piece of your mind, ignoring that the Watchtower Society forbids such a thing in the first place. Perhaps forgetting that association in any way, shape or form with us is never going to be acceptable so long as you are a Jehovah's Witness.
You may be unable to comprehend this, but that is not my problem.
People who are genuinely grieving a former way of life, sometimes even relatives & friends, need somewhere they can go to feel accepted. This is virtual group therapy for like minded individuals, who are venting in an open environment where they won't be judged for doing so. You and your shallow views, are not welcome.
What makes you look even more ridiculous is that you do not know any of us, and you insist on judging us by our comments on a website. You are but a mouthpiece for an Organization, that will ultimately leave you with nothing but empty promises, or like some, nothing but a burnt out shell.
You ignorant fool, desperate individuals have come here at the end of their tether, some have even ended their life. I may as well be talking to a child, with no compherension of the real world. It is not black and white.
I suggest you take yourself to a local Hardware store, buy a powerdrill and make yourself an anus.
