What does the rise of Donald Trump tell us about the USA?
by fulltimestudent ini thank one of my former lecturers for drawing my attention to this overview.. after some 100 years, living out its "manifest destiny" dream, as the hegemon of the world, what has this 'dream' done to/for the usa?
the approaching presidential election provides an opportunity to examine this question.. and what of all the appendage organisations (like the wts) that rode across the world on the hegemon's coattails?.
the answer may be here: http://www.vox.com/2016/3/1/11127424/trump-authoritarianism.

The short explanation of Trump is that many Americans have bought into the erroneous belief that a country should be run like a business, even though,
"not everything that is profitable is of social value and not everything of social value is profitable."

This Week's New Yorker Magazine
by DNCall inthe april 4th issue contains a very well-written and insightful article about the jws: "god's work" by kevin canty.
it's fiction, but on the money as far as the experience of an adolescent reconciling the beliefs with his natural biological urges.
boy, could i relate!

Governing body member engaged... Again!
by OneDayillBeFree injust found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.
it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.
what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

Getting it out of my system, a VERY long introduction/outpouring..
by adimmedlight inwarning, novel ahead:.
after a few months of lurking on this site, i've decided to take the plunge...i don't really care so much about introducing myself, but somehow there is some relief in the thought of getting my little story out there, just getting it out of my system.
i am the oldest of 5 kids.

I left at 23 also. Looking back after 4 decades, one regret is that I didn't leave sooner.

Synthetic Blood in 2 Years? How Will the GB Shoot This Down?
by DarioKehl ininteresting read.
if they already allow "fractions," there's no way they can ban this.. here:www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/nhs-to-give-volunteers-synthetic-blood-made-in-a-laboratory-within-two-years-10343279.html.

The GB could make a case either way - artificial blood mimics the life force that is in blood - Jehovah will not be mocked! - etc., etc. Or, as mentioned, they could hail it as a victory for Jehovah's people.
Either way, the real issue will be - which choice benefits the WTBTS most?

Je Suis Charlie
by Slidin Fast inthis incident in paris makes me feel absolutely furious.
yes i feel desperately sorry for the victims and their families no one should have to deal with that.
the thing that makes me feel absolutely incandescent though is the attack on freedom of speech and expression.
