Another Newbie

i have been reading and enjoying the posts here for over 2 years.

i have been a witness for over 30 years.

i am going to the meetings just to keep peace in the family.

Welcome to this forum! As you can see I'm kinda new, too. This forum is becoming a wonderful self-healing therapy. I don't know this people personally, but have lots and lots in common with most of them....at the beginning I felt very nervous, posting my first comments....but it goes away (little by little). I have been "raised in the truth" and are still an bethel elder.....( I'm wondering how long I can play this "cat and mouse" game....at times it's emotinally consuming at others I get an incredible thrill.....)

Most of the folks here treat you like a friend, that is how they have treated me so far. I've got lots and lots of PM (personal messages) and most of them comforting. Actually very comforting. There are very colorful characters "aboard", but you will like them as they represent the way humans are:

bright and colorful and not BLACK AND WHITE! I despite the "black and white" thinking. Anyhow, I hope you don't live too much up to your nickname!

...so said my dear 'ol mom after her and my dad made reservations for this year's district convention and realized that another hotel on the lodging list had a cheaper rate.

she figured that calling up the previous hotel to cancel was against the society's rules counsel listed in the km about making reservations.

so she spends the next 20 minutes looking all over the house for the km to make sure there are no rules against cancelling a reservation already made with a hotel since "we don't want to bring on reproach on jehovah's name.

Schizm: You have enough material here to go and create your own religion....man, all that writing!!! You're scaring the folks at WTBTS, as THEY are the ones that publish stuff like that....

Here's what you could do: Create a great book, include your theories (don't make it red, as that is already taken by our friends in Brooklyn), than gather enough people together (one tip: preferebly people that bow and agree to anything you say, works best, we've all seen that).

Next step is: you study with them - i would say, how about every week? If they don't answer (the right answers, naturally the ones you have whispered in they're ears) you will expell them from the group.

Ahh, one important point (shame on me, the most important!!!): ask them for donations, as you will need them to print your next theories about other books (how about Daniel?) and also a book about Aliens (would sell nicely and the folks at WTBTS don't have one, great money-making tip here from me...)

Pack all up, give it a nice name.....and off you go, my friend......an NEW WORLD RELIGION, BORN before our eyes!

Man, if Russell or Rutherford had the Internet......they would be posting stuff like this!

blondie: I have always appreciated your posts (when I was lurking)....just tell'ya: WOW! You have more knowledge about elders stuff, than most elders I know (and count CO, DO, too). You really know what you're talking. Hats off, to you.

hellrider: LOL. A lot!!!!!!!! Your comment really made me crack up.....I've had such a good laugh, man, thank you. That description is one of the best I've ever read about elders/elders meetings/elder behaviour. You really hit the nail.

Mind Control Alert - Watchtower Article - simplifying your life -

jgnat: LOL with that one! Good thought, i've never seen it that way. It's so true, i have to wake up in the morning and shave and get dressed, etc.etc. all the stuff a sparrow doesn't do.....you can't just compare birds with people!

They mention that a sister gave up college and went on to special pioneering in Liberia. Well, thats a bad example. Actually, very bad in the context of materialistic thinking. Why? I've been to third world countries, and the truth is that in many of them it is BETTER to become an special pioneer, as the cash that they pocket in form of an allowance is higher than a local teacher or doctor would receive. If the sister is Liberian, than that is not JW heroism, but what i call a smart career move! For foreigners in such assignments it's a little different. The allowance hardly pays the phone bill to call mum or paps.

The bethel study conductor ended the article with the comment: "This article is equivalent to having Jehovahs point of view on material things."

Well, that was a good one. What is Jehovahs view on material things then?

1. Israelites leave Egypt. All obedient and nice. Blessing? They loot the bad, bad, worldly egyptians and take all their gold and silver and jewelry....

2. Than they get along conquering other cities, and again, Jehovah "blesses" them with more material things: goats, sheep, more gold...

3. Salomon. Asks for wisdom, gets it. What is his blessing? You would expect that a wise man like that would receive tons of books, libraries, but instead the blessing was again in material form: supposedly 200 Million Dollar yearly income (hey, could RunningMan do a check on this? I would love to hear his opinion on the figures, as he did a fantastic work on his book.....)

4. The promised land. What was the carrot? "A land of milk and honey"=great agriculture=wealth. They where never promised "a land of spiritual riches, and you guys will be assisting 5 times in Jerusalem and getting watchtowers and all" Nope. These folks where creating wealth, asisted meetings one time a year and dissappeared afterwards...

5. Abraham. Job, all the same. Whenever we're talking blessings its equal to CASH, MORE CASH.

6. Modern Bethel homes: they are used as the example for the regular JW family. Ok. Let's round up. All new cars, electric gates, some of them swimming pools (how many JW families do you know with swimming pool AND that are pioneering?)

Ok. Sum this up. Jehovahs point of view DEFINITELY favors YOU in making some serious CASH, as that in biblical terms IS A BLESSING. So, now, stop reading this, don't waste time, get your college degree.....

a) are young (everybody: "is he having an ehm....erection...he must be, look at him, he's YOUNG" or: "will he pioneer? he doesn't dare to go to college, does he?")

b) have a computer (statement: "everybody that has a computer MUST be a pervert.....i don't care if the guy works as an accountant and needs to work on a computer....it's a universal rule: everybody with a computer is so freakin evil, i can't even express it in words....")

c) have a full-time job (good paying) (everybody: "look at this materialistic pig.....he has thrown the truth out of the window.....no, i don't care if hes shoveling in 20 hours in service, is an elder, gives xxx talks at assemblies.......he MUST be materialistic.")

d) all of the above together!

Isn't it wonderfull HOW MUCH a picture like this teaches you???? A picture is worth thousand words....you don't need to read the article once you see the photos....do I hear several of you saying: "creeps"...wow, not exactly the feeling these elders should awake in you, isn't it?

I just wonder....question to the ones that have thrown in the "im-screwing-your-wife"-thing.....WHY is lefty the only affected one? WHY is everybody humping HIS wife? Is brother righty (righteous) wife OK?

Saoirse: Yes, he gives me the creeps....but he is common among elders (and even worser)

blondie: you're absolutely right! (How do you know?) These "techniques" are commonly used among elders (some are quite proud of the tricks they have pulled off to get some poor bastard nailed...they tell them as jokes at elders meetings, believe me. All the truth!) I call these methods Gestapo interrogation methods, and if somebody from WTBTS is reading this and thinks it is not true....go and do your homework. I had once one circuit overseer with three of us doing an interrogation that lasted until 1:00 a.m. in the morning....I almost wanted to stand up and knock the guy out of his suit, but I couldn't because I was soo tired and red eyed, that I couldn't distinguish who was who....
