i met a sister at a district convention a year ago and i've been talking to her on aim for a while.
i think she is very amusing considering that she is very intelligent and often voices her views on the doctrinal falicies of the wtbs, but when its my turn to give my two cents she makes it seem as if i'm the only poztate.

The discussion about the moral issues/pros/cons of porn and effects/marriage etc. could be discussed for hours...
....my point is in this case:
a) Don't get the elders involved - many of you have stated correctly: it is a bigger problem in the little twisted JW world - the issue itself will be pushed to the back, the poor fellow AND his wife AND his daughter will soon feel the heat of the hell fire that this BOE has....politics come into play (will they cut the guy off, is it a good political move, all kinds of nasty things that have nothing to do with the original issue). All of that under the banner of: "He-needs-help-where-gona-help-him"
b) He is a independent, free moral agent. He has HIS own free will and mind. Let HIM work this one out. Let me tell you, THIS might be the trigger for him to leave the BS he is in. It is excellent to hear that he is so stiff and demanding, but is giving in to his own "weaknesses". THAT IS WORTH GOLD alone. Man, look at the situation we have here. I know elders, ms that are so self-rightness and harsh on others...but once they look into the mirror of reality, they discover that THEY aren't better/worser than others. THIS could be the BIGGEST lesson in this guys life! He is RIGHT now learning more about humans, human behaviour, needs, emotions than he will ever by reading a WT or Awake magazine.
If it disgusts him, he will stop. But if you stop the process "artificially" by some elders hammering down on him, AND PLEASE REMIND HER: on his family, too (meetings with him, meetings with him&wife, interrogation of daughter, calling in of daughter against father if he denies, .....unpleasant to say the least!)
Tell her that her father is exercising his free will (maybe for the first time in his life!). He is braking the bonds with the WTBT$ - willingly or not - but he is....for many that is the initial process to loose the tight control. ...They forbid this a hundred times and he is braking the rules....good for him!
......and if he gets some pleasure in the process....hey, that ain't too bad either.....
Tell her not to worry. We are humans. Sexuality is part of humanity. Sexuality is all over the Bible, Salomon was having a good time with his 700 wifes...Song of Solomon talks about some dripping liquid under the lover....
And YES, why not face it: naked boobs have some chemical effects on a guys mind....it is built in.

It certainly hurts. It hurts me to think about my mother, how enthusiastic she is about "the Truth". She is a very intelligent woman, good heart and willing to help others. It hurts me a lot!!
Since I lived many years in Germany, I can tell you that 80 million germans where deceived by the leaders of the Third Reich. During my pioneering time there, I talked to many, many older germans (in their 70, 80) and they are up til today dumbfounded on how they could have been deceived by a man! Think about it: a whole nation. Talking to them, not all of them where evil, or knew a lot about what was going on. Talking to they're sons and grandchildren, they feel the same as you. They do not wan't to think that their grandfathers where evil murders. Having studied a lot WWII history, I think ANY nation could have been in the same situation Germany was.....matter of fact, it is my personal believe for a long time that there are traits to the WT organization that create the same blindness, following leaders as the Nazi regime did....
Yes. It hurts to get tricked and cheated by others....

Movie: The Truman Show = Jehovahs Witnesses? Anyone seen this movie?
by Trojan inby now, i realize there are a couple of good movies that help to understand the situation a jw finds himself in, once he finds out the truth about "the truth".
like: the village, the island, stepford wifes.
i find that these movies help me to understand the situation of being trapped in a cult and the mixed emotions about finding out and the courage and strenght needed to leave.

There are actual cases a few cases that reach service department of elders that had pre-marital sex with their wifes, 20 years ago and now suddenly they remember that and confess. In those cases procedure is: long time ago, forgotten, nobody knows. Move on.
You will not hear about those...

.....YESSS, the Internet. A friend of mine (Watchtower writer) recently mentioned to me that they can't write about everything and have to compromise the articles, because of the apostates. I asked him how that could be (I mean: THE spiritual food, adapted because of apostates???), he sighed and said yes, they have to be carefull (which they aren't, because I mentioned some topic to him about something the Society wrote only 5 years ago, and he said that couldn't be the Society never said such a thing, I pulled out the WT and his jaw dropped.....). YES, my friend. Read the stuff you write!!!!!!!
Second. You forgot something the CO's keep mentioning and was FAVORITE topic at the recent held Elders course: PORNOGRAPHY....
Probably Porn is doing more than apostate stuff.....I would think in terms of damage: 80 to 20.

hartstrings: No, absolutely no word about JW. It is a movie about two kids (without spoiling the end, or twists) and they're mother that live in eastern germany (DDR in german). The mother is a fierce, faithfull communist and active and loves all the party crap....she then has an heart attack and lies in coma. During that time the wall comes down and the soviet regime crashes.....the country changes....the old communist stuff disappears, and they start having new cars, buildings, coca-cola, ads, ikea, mcdonalds.....it actually gives me goosepumps, because I saw that process with my own eyes. Anyway, the mother wakes up and the kids think to their mothers own good (and her weak heart) they have to fake and simulate the old system. So they go about to build a "fake communist" world (I will not tell you how, but it has very funny parts where they have to come up with creative ideas....like: what if she wants to watch TV? The programm has changed....no more communist speeches....all kinds of stuff like that) They can get away with it for a while since they're mother is attached to the house, due to bad health.......
..........there is a surprising ending and lots of interesting things that I will not tell, as I said, not to spoil the movie for you. Yes, if your husband is JW, go and get the movie.....it might make him think (if you give it a 'little push',.....I didn't see the similarities the first time a saw it, but can certainly see them now).
My take is: the kids=governing body, the mother=the rest of us.

2006 Canadian District Conventions
by enderby indo any canadians have the issue of the watchtower or awake which lists the dates and locations for this year's series of dictrict conventions?
i'm particularly interested in any listing for hamilton, ontario @ copps.
second question: has anybody on this forum ever picketed a convention?

Mary: THAT is the real work that has to be done! I have respect for Danny (man, you have balls of steel, to show up like that at a Convention), but I agree with sickoflies: NO JW will be impressed by stuff like that. Believe me. If it makes you feel good: go for it. But if you think it will make a difference, no, its a waste of time.
This works better and is the sweeter deal for you:
1. They will no doubt get beating up again at those conventions (more service, more meetings, more, more, more....less entertainment, less education, less sex, less of everything you ever dreamed about,....) The WTBT$ will do their best to bring fresh, new lurkers on to the Internet (by the way, even by mentioning the Internet they draw MORE attention to it, not less....human minds are curious! )
2. The ones that are 'ready' in their minds will be drawn to places like this!
3. Keep posting. Keep commenting on this board. THIS IS HOW YOU can contribute to the cause. People like me and others that are lurking around will read, think, read, think...the process is set in motion.
It is very easy: sit back at your cozy place, take a cup of tea/coffee and participate with thoughtfull, logical, sensefull comments at this site. Don't fill the threads with junk, trashy comments as that confirms what many dubs think: apostates don't know a darn thing and are bitter, etc.etc.
