If The Bush Administration Lied About WMD, So Did These People

since we haven't found wmd in iraq yet, a lot of the anti-war/anti-bush crowd is claiming that the bush administration lied about iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

the story being floated now is that saddam had no wmd (or almost none) and that the bush administration didn't tell the truth about the wmd threat.

well, if they're going to claim that the bush administration lied, then there sure are a lot of other people, including quite a few prominent democrats, who have told the same lies since the inspectors pulled out of iraq in 1998. here are just a few examples of what i'm talking about... .

Yes the democrats lie to and its no secret but they didn't use lie's and exaggeration to start a war.

Democrats lies are better than Republican lies? What about Clinton's same lies then to justify bombing Iraq and an Aspirin factory in the Sudan? Are those same lies also better since it was only bombs and not troops?

Sounds an awful lot like a lie is telling an untruth to someone entitled to know the truth.

But, once WMDs are found, are they still lies? Or, do they become truths and the Democrats will be the ones lying all along?

Are you trying to claim that Weapons of Mass Destruction were used there?! You seem to be comfusing them with just weapons.

Hundreds of thousands of innocents slaughtered didn't matter because of the weaponry used?

Perhaps reading Iris Changs "The Rape of Nanking" might enlighten you a bit. Perhaps researching into the Japanese mindset of the time would help too. Would it have been better, in your eyes, for an outright invasion, as was also planned and fighting to the death of even more Japanese, American, British, Australian and other soldiers and civilians? Casualty estimates were in the millions, beyond the hundreds of thousands already killed.

Seek out and talk about this with British POWs of the era and see how the "innocent" Japanese civilians treated your own countrymen held in Japan as POWs.

You have the luxury that they didn't have back then, 58 years of seeing what a horrible weapon it is. Back then, they needed to end the bloodiest war in history, quickly. That they've never been used again is a testimony to the world seeing what a hideous weapon they are and all the more reason to ensure they don't fall into the hands of egomaniacal tyrants like Saddam.

It is also my hope that someday, you will realize this is 2003, no longer 1945.

Just another point is that Hussein did gas the Kurds, but where was the outrage then from the US.

Many of us who were outraged and cried out then went unheard and unnoticed by those from the other side who also sided with those who would only allow the first Bush to oust Hussein from Kuwait and go no further. Amongst them was the UN, Arab members of the then coalition and a few Europeans.

If memory serves correctly, when the Kurds and Shiites stood up against Saddam, as encouraged by the first Bush, the cries from the left prevented any aide from being sent in then. A similar thing happened at the fall of Saigon back in 1975. Part of the agreement then to the cease fire of 1973 was that if North Vietnam invaded the South, the US would return and help fend them off. As Saigon was overrun, I was sitting packed and ready to return at Ft. Bragg, NC. The Democratic controlled Congress of the time prevented President Ford was issuing such an order.

Both incidents are a shameful part of our history, to me.

Just a few months ago, however, Sen. Clinton assured the nation that evidence of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction was solid - based on intelligence gathered by both the Clinton and Bush administrations.

"Now, I believe the facts that have brought us to this fateful vote are not in doubt," Clinton told the Senate the day she announced her support for the war.

She recalled that after Saddam threw U.N. weapons inspectors out of Iraq in 1998, "President Clinton, with the British and others, ordered an intensive four-day air assault, Operation Desert Fox, on known and suspected weapons of mass destruction sites and other military targets."

Citing intelligence that predated the Bush administration, she explained, "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program."

"It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons," the top Democrat declared.

When the Ottoman Empire was defeated and broke up, why weren't the Palestinians included with the other Arabs that settled in what is now Jordan?

Any reason the Arab Palestinians weren't a refugee problem prior to the defeat of the Arabs in the 1967 war?

Since both Jews and Arabs lived in Palestine prior to WW1 and the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, aren't the Jews also Palestinians?

Seems to me, both sides could resolve this easily with a bit of give and take, without dragging the rest of the world into it. But, isn't it the Arabs who say they will not rest until there are no Jews left in the middle east?

Why does the Government OWE You?

with all the recent political threads, i have a question.

what do you think/feel/believe the government or your country *owes* you as a citizen?.

i am talking about pensions, health care and other *social services*.

All the government owes me is to live up to their promise of the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, nothing else. The more they're out of my way, the happier I am.

To any who believe they are owed something because they paid taxes, think again. You aren't buying anything, but being required to share what you earn with others. Until 1911, you weren't required to share your wealth.

All they owe me is to stay the hell out of my way.
