I wanted to update the tat issue from a couple of months ago. I finally got one, then 2, now 3, it is very addicting...and God knows I have an addictive personality...lol! The first tat I got was of a leaf with 3 lady bugs on it in the shape of hearts with my daughters name incorporated into a saying around it on my left wrist. The second one was a large one down my right calf of a long stem rose, banner and a heart with my mom and Pops name in it. And the last one is of my favorite band in the world U2 with the words "walk on" under it! Love them all! I also ended up getting my nose pierced, (took it out), and my eyebrow pierced, (also took it out, not because I wanted to, it was a little infected). So I am catching up with all my rebelous antics that I never got to enjoy in the Kingdumb Hall!! Any one else have any new ones?

Hi Jug,
I was never disfellowshipped, but chose to walk away after 16 years....What a sense of freedom for sure. My experience in the congregations, (cause I went to a few), was nastiness on the part of a lot of folks there, cliques, and downright favoritism. I think it is amazing being out and feeling like I am a worthy person for the first time in 16 years. My husband and I and our 3 girls were the only witnesses in our family. People knew that at the Kingdom Hall, knew we had no other outlets or friends besides them, or should I say, "potential friends." And most of them ignored us, shunned us treated us like we weren't even there. A friend of mine would tell me...you have that look of "don't talk to me". That is the person I became...Never again. I will never allow an orgainization of self righteous people make me feel like I am not important...I am rambling cause I can hear your sigh of relief, and wanted to let you know I feel exactly the same way!! Welcome!

You know, this is a tricky one, I don't know what I believe any longer, I know I need some time to de-program in order to even begin looking that is if I even ever will! I saw a bumper sticker that I sooooooooo wanted the other day that sums my life up now..."I believe in Life before Death"....Isn't that perfect! So many folks believe in "life after death" they never reach thier full and true potential in all aspects of life. I think having a hope for the future, and not living for today but living for another time even goes against what the bible tells us in regards to "sufficient for today is it's own badness"....Just looking at that in itself is really helping me to be the best person for today. If whoever it is that hands out judgement, (if there even truly is one), doesn't think that is good enough....than so be it! I really am not afraid of death any longer. That is the one true thing that holds many people captivated in Religion for years is the thought of death and their mortality. Think of it this way, If armageddon does not come in our life time and we die, and do not receive the ressurection until some undisclosed time, (as the Witnesses tell it)... will we even know if we were to be ressurected or not? We will be dead, unconscious! Be good to people now, live life now, nobody says we have to give up our morals, and even if we do, that is up to us! Just my thoughts on things!

I came into the truth when I was 23...tattooing and piercings seemed really popular in the 90's as it is today.....I wanted to pierce my eyebrow so badly....Of course I didn't, didn't want to stumble anyone....well my family and I have been out for a few months now and my 18 year old daughter just got her first tat today!! Sweetness, it is so freakin' awesome looking, (the skeleton from Social Distortion). My youngest is going in on Saturday for a distorted heart, (the used cover) on her shoulder, I can't wait to see it. Well mind you, I am 40, and I don't care....I feel like a lot of my youth was given to the WT orgainization....I am setting up an appointment to get 2 tats myself....one on my hand, one on my foot. I am also going to get my eyebrow pierced and my nose pierced....Yes I know I may look like the old broad with the "young" stuff, but I am FREE..and this is my present to myself to celebrate!! I will maybe post picks when I get them done if I can figure out how to do so...and the best part is, My kids WANT me to get this stuff done!! YAY!! Oh and that article in the awake....funny stuff, I remember thinking...geez, If I walked into the Kingdom hall with a glorious depiction of Christ with short hair from one of the societies drawings...I would so get pulled into the backroom and probably chastised, and repremanded for being a person with free will....and probably disfellowshipped!! It is hilarious, there is no conscience decisions in that orgainization....God I am so glad to be out!!

Why Do We Come Onto These Boards???
by minimus insome of us are addicted or simply curious or have been referred to, to see what these boards are all about.
even when people say that they're done, they're never coming back, they reappear......what's wrong with us?

As a newbie, I come here to look at other peoples reasons for leaving, after being brainwashed for 16 years of my life, into thinking that I would be a sinner to not be a Jehovah's witness...I want to know the people I will burn forever with...lol!! Nah, it helps to know that I am not the only person out there who was crapped on by a "loving" orgainization!! And you know what?? I am sooooooooooo making the right decision to get out....thanks to all the people who post here!!

How Many Of You?
by justsomedude inhow many of you, when you were an active and zealous jw (assuming you were), were motivated by the paradise idea?
i was basically born in, so i wasn't drawn to the religion, it just was.. the whole idea of the paradise never really exicted me though.
i followed the religion and did what i did because i just believed it was the right thing to do and not so i could obtain the carrot on the end of the string.. how many of you felt the same way?

Oh man...I was 100%...before I became a witness, I was so afraid of dying...(I had just had 3 kids and they were all little), mortality hit me like a brick. So the thought of dying at armageddon or living forever in a "paradise on earth" was very much at the fore front of my thinking and motivation. Now, as I see alot of creeps in the KH....I would rather die at armageddon than live forever with these people!!!!!!

What made you lose your joy in serving Jehovah?
by JH inwe all started off as happy witnesses, except for those dragged into this religion by force as kids.. in my case, i found that there were way too many meetings.
then seeing the new system being constantly pushed back, and finally when i saw a lack of true love in the congregation.
and when they hinted that probably there wouldn't be any sex and marriage for the resurrected ones.

The hypocritical actions of the people in the Kingdom Hall!
