  wonder what this man did to blot his copybook?

  I had it on first hand authority that somebody visiting the London Bethel some years back, ran into an old man in his dotage that was accompanied by a younger bro. in something like a nurse uniform. The younger one said that the older one was John Blaney who was retired and being looked after at Bethel. Blaney was , in his day, a tremendous charecter and a very well known C/O and D/O. I had previously heard that he had retired and gone into the Bethel.

  I am thinking that the costs of caring for all of them would be significant, after all nobody expected them to still be in this position in this system . Perhaps it is like every congregation that I have known, that care of the elderly is very sporadic , if you are in, you are in - but others get left alone.

  As for sympathy for this man? Yes, without knowing the facts. After all, we all preached the bulls~~~t . I served as an elder for 24 years . For decades I exhorted the flock, delivered the public talk outlines and sat on committees - I really believed it . No doubt he did too.

  I really can't add much. Frank, you have my respect. You too, blues brother.

  I did my 30 years as an elder and probably did my own share of damage, even though I tried to be kind and compassionate. I am suffering now and have been disfellowshipped over the UN NGO deal last May.

  Glad to be gone. the suffering is because I didn't realize for 45 years that I was so gullible. What a waste of time. Tried so hard, thought I had hit life's lottery and on my way to paradise. We are all victims. I hope people close to Emshoff try to help him out. Also, I hope Frank is ok and able to have some degree of happiness. I am 60, still working, and fortunately didn't spend my time in 'full time service' but rather raised a family and did some minimal planning for the future.

  My respect to you guys who did it the other way and now are having problems.

  Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???

  i have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.

  how many "welcome" or "introduction" .

  threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

  Thank you both for the comments. Yes, I did have my backside handed to me pretty handily a couple of times.

  My problem with posting is when I start getting "hot" I can't stop until I have offended about half the posters.

  It is very intimidating to post here, and it takes a lot of work to keep up with it.

  It is a lot easier to check in and read than to post.

  For example, just think how dumb this post turned out.

  someone backed into my new mini cooper and left a nasty dent and took off the black plastic rim that goes over the front passenger wheel.

  hell, even the passenger door won't open.

  once again the elders appointed a convicted and confessed child molester to a position of responsibility as an officer and ministerial servant of the congregation.

  this time the accused name is jerry anderson crabb of the lancaster congregation of jehovah's witnesses - 4795 macleay road se, salem, or 97301. sadly, as one would expect, he has been accused of sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions.

  Page 72 subheading ' Justice in business and in money matters'

  Paragraph 10 :

  I think anyone who leaves any religion or belief system or former loyalty is an apostate, whether or not they ever adopt another one or speak out against the former one. It is not really a scary word.

  Every single JW that used to be a different religion or married to a different person or a subscriber to certain magazine is an apostate. Okay, maybe the magazine subscription is a stretch . I used to be a JW, so I am an apostate. JWs view the word with some sort of paranormal superstition that the word simply does not denote or connote. Every ex-JW is an apostate. Only the JW usage of the word would carry some connotation of vengeance against the formerly held loyalty.

  I am definitely an ex-JW and I am working toward becoming an EX-ex-JW. But if I can help hit the reset button that will free my wife and family to choose again on my way toward that goal, so much the better.
