Thanks IT Support and Jaffacake,
I also respect both of your opinion's.
this doesn't make alot of sense to me, because the word "inspire" can have alot of different meanings, as i've copied from the merriam-webster online dictionary below.
while i definitely believe in god, i think that #5 is probably closer to the truth.
if i write a book or a song and say i was inspired by elvis, that doesn't mean that elvis wrote it or even approved it-----it simply means that i wrote it with him in mind.

Apart from any theory of inspiration; or any theory of how the Bible books came to their present form; or how much the text may have suffered in transmission at the hands of editors and copyist; apart from the question of how much is to be interpreted literally and how much figuratively, or what is historical and what may be poetical; if we will assume that the Bible is just what it appears to be, and study it's books to know their contents, we will find there a Unity of Thought indicating that One Mind inspired the writing and compilation of the whole series of books; that it bears on it's face the stamp of it's Author; that it is in a unique and distinctive sense THE WORD OF GOD.
There is a present-day view, held rather widely in certain intellectual circles, that the Bible is a sort of age-long story of man's effort to find God: a record of man's experiences reaching after God, gradually improving his idea of God by building on the experiences of preceding generations. In those passages, so abundant in the Bible, in which it is said that God spoke, God, according to this view, did not really speak; but men put their ideas in language professing to be the language of God, while in reality it was only what men imagined about God. The Bible is thus reduced to the level of other books, and is made to appear, not a Divine book, but rather a human book, pretending to be Divine.
I reject this view utterly, and with abhorrence. I believe the Bible to be, not man's account of his effort to find God, but rather an account of God's effort to find to reveal Himself to man; God's own record of His dealings with men, in His unfolding revelation of Himself to the human race; the Revealed Will of the Creator of Man, given to Man by the Creator Himself, for instruction and Guidance in the Way's of Life.
isaiah 55;10,11 does anyone understand this scripture in regards to jehovah being the god of purpose
Chapter 55 is the Servant invitation to all the world to enter his kingdom and share his blessings.

30: and many other signs truly did jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:.
anyone post a thread on this topic yet???.
Here is the Author's unequivocal statement that his purpose was to demonstrate and illustrate the Godhood of Jesus.
so last weekend i'm heading out of my apartment for a lunch date.
as i am walking down the sidewalk to my car, two men in suits with bookbags walking towards me try to start a conversation by saying "excuse me" with big smiles.
i just walked by them and said "i'm an apostate".
When they ask, "Can I talk to you about God?" Reply, "Sure, what would you like to know?"
Answer the door with a bloody knife and say, "I'm sorry, could you come back in a half hour? We're not done with the virgin yet."
Answer the door with an automatic weapon and say 'Allah be Praised!
Ask them for their address. When they ask why you want it, claim that you want to appear on their doorstop univited so that you can peddle your own beliefs.
Look smug and tell them that your God can beat up their God.
Tell them you already have your own religion. When they ask what it is, wince a little before confessing, "er, I'm not sure if it's legal in this country
A chalk outline of a human body on the pavement, and a few copies of "The Watchtower" scattered around...
Answer every one of their questions with "What do you mean by that?" This might take a while, but you and your loved ones can have fun placing bets on how long it takes for them to leave.
Ask them to explain the story of Elisha and the Forty-two children.
Invite them in to see your fine collection of dinosaur fossils.
Three Religious Truths
Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian faith.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not recognize each other at the porn shop.

TRY GIVING THIS A SHOT Would a Jehovah's Witness trust the translation of their Bible to someone who didn't know Greek or Hebrew and only had a high school education? |
This is an important question to ask a Jehovah's Witness because they do, in fact, do just that. The Watchtower Society has always resisted efforts to identify members of the translation committee for the New World Translation. There is good reason for their secrecy. The translation committee is now known to be a group of five men with no credentials that would in any way make them qualified to translate the Bible from the original texts. Four of the five men in the committee had no Hebrew or Greek training whatsoever and had only a high school education. The fifth member of the translation team claimed to know Hebrew and Greek. However, while being examined under oath in a court of law in Edinburgh Scotland, he was found to fail a simple Hebrew test. The truth is the translation of the New World Translation used by Jehovah's Witnesses was translated without any ability to read the original texts. |
first, the word jehovah came about because the ancient jews had a superstitious dread of pronouncing the name yhwh for fear they would violate the commandment not to take god's name in vain.
to avoid the possibility of breaking this commandment, the jews substituted the name "adonai" (lord) or some other name in its place when ever they read it in scripture.
eventually the scribes inserted the vowels from adonai within the consonants yhwh and the result was yahowah, or jehovah.
Nothing Personal...just wanted to put in my 2cents

Jehovah is not the only name in the Bible used to refer to God. Many times in Scripture God is referred to as "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob". Because God is referred to by other names in the Old Testament, Exodus 3:15 cannot be taken, as the Jehovah's Witnesses do, to mean that Jehovah is the only name by which God can be addressed.
In the New Testament, Jesus NEVER addressed the Father as Jehovah. If the Watchtower Society is correct that God must always be referred to as Jehovah, then Jesus was way out of line. Jesus began many prayers with, Our Father. We are told as Christians to cry out to our God as "Abba, Father" (Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6). According to the Greek manuscripts the word Jehovah does not occur a single time in the New Testament.
hello, i am newly dissociated and was wondering how some of you who grew up in "the truth" have started relationships.
i have never dated for obvious reasons and am now 26 with no experiance and extremely shy about this whole dating process.
i have tried places of interest like gyms, workout classes and even eharmony with no prevail.
Make sure you always be yourself, go out and make new friends and it will come when you least expect it. Just try your best not to think about it.
