A lady at my congregation had only been a witness for a couple of years but managed to shun her df daughter.
I imagined that it wasn't that difficult for her as she would still go to family get togethers when her daughter and grandchildren were there but ignored them all.
She didn't feel bad about missing out on her grandchildren as she believed that when Armageddon comes and her daughter has gone, then Jehovah will give the children to her to bring up.

Telephone Telapathy

has anyone ever experienced this?
i have, as well as with emails and especially text messages.. do you think there's any chance this could be real-that there is a valid, unspoken connection between people who reach out to each other?

I've heard its because you only remember the times where you had been thinking of someone who had then got in touch, but you don't remember all the times you had thought of someone who doesn't get in touch. Moomin

I was wondering what happens then on the JW tours when they get to this part and could see the date for themselves.
I was going to go on the trip last year but didn't in the end. At the next meeting after the trip, everyone was gushing about how encouraging it was and that lots of members of the public would tag onto the tour as they were so impressed by the jw tour guide. Has anyone experienced this themselves?

While being an active JW, did you throw away Watchtower literature?
by JH ini remember that magazines and books came in faster than i could read, it was accumulating fast.
in my first years, i didn't dare throw away anything.
even later when i was starting to cool down, i still had mountains of books, magazines and brochures.

I was told by an elder's wife that I shouldn't throw them away. I had only been a year and I had so many bursting out the cupboards. We live in a small flat and my husband was getting annoyed seeing them scattered about and squashed into cupboards and draws.
My study conductor's husband kept trying to give me new books and mags to give to my husband (books and mags that I already had!) But looking back I realised he was just doing it so he could say he has placed them.
At the 05 assembly he asked me 2 times if he could offer the 'What does the Bible Teach' book to my husband (even though I had picked up one for myself). I told him I'd rather he didn't as I know it would cause embarrassment. He ignored me and planned to give it to him anyway but his wife talked him out of it. I was so anoyed that he had to be talked out of it and not just respect my wishes in the first place.
I remembered how the speaker had said so pompously that the book had already been placed by some of the witnesses and I think thats what got him going as he always wanted to be better than most :(
After that my guilt eased and I could quite happily throw out the older mags.

telling lies
by happyone inneighbors of mine have been spreading some unkind untruths about me and i'm not sure what i can do about it.
i'm struggling and would love some words of insight from others.
there are days when i'd like to sink to their level and tell some lies of my own, but i know that's not the way to go.

Hi Happyone
I'm sorry to hear whats happening, it must be really hurtful and frustrating. I like bikerchic's advice to continue to live your life well. It's hard not to be affected by other people's bad behaviour but you have to try and not let it burden you as you are only responsible for what comes out of your mouth.

Illnesses in The Congregations
by Country Girl indid any of you ever notice that what seemed a larger percentage of people in the congregation seem to have serious illnesses than the same slice of people in the world with the same demographics?
it seems that our congregation had a large percentage of people with mental illnesses, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc.
these diseases (although some md's classify them as psychosomatic) have been known to be aggravated or even induced by stress.

In my cong there were a lot of depression sufferers and a couple with M.E. I was told that one of the back rooms was named the B.O. room as thats where all the brothers and sisters who were allergic to everything had to sit.
There was also a lot of common colds floating around most of the time as quite a few people would still attend the meetings even when contagious :(
I bet it was worse than a doctor's waiting room.
